Wes Anderson, one of Hollywood’s most revered and identifiable contemporary filmmakers, is back with “The Phoenician Scheme.” The writer-director’s follow-up to his acclaimed 2023 sci-fi dramedy, “Asteroid City,” is another high-concept, highly stylized ensemble film bursting with more vibrant pastels and deadpan gags than you can count. But will it be able to live up to the standard of Anderson’s past films? There is only one way to find out.
Here is how, when and where you can watch “The Phoenician Scheme.”
When does “The Phoenician Scheme” come out?
“The Phoenician Scheme” is set to be released in limited theaters on Friday, May 30. It will expand nationwide on Friday, June 6.
Is “The Phoenician Scheme” streaming?
Like most of Wes Anderson’s films, “The Phoenician Scheme” will be release exclusively in theaters. It may be weeks or months before the film makes its video-on-demand premiere, and even longer before...

From “Mississippi Masala” to “Homeland” to Carrie Bradshaw’s land, Sarita Choudhury has lived an exciting and diverse life on screen. Choudhury plays Seema, one of Carrie Bradshaw’s closest friends on “And Just Like That,” and Seema shines as one of the strongest characters on the “Sex and the City” sequel. In fact, it’s hard to remember the city without Seema.
IndieWire sat down with Choudhury to discuss season 3 — all things sex, Seema, dating, love, Carrie, Aidan, and of course, the only city that matters, New York! Choudhury opens about her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Nicole Ari Parker.
And she also weighs in on comparisons between Seema and Samantha Jones, Kim Cattrall’s longtime “Sex and the City” missing-in-action mainstay (she reveals whether Samantha and Seema would get along). Choudhury also confesses the big risk she took for her “Ajlt” Zoom audition that probably got her the role.

Things might not have worked out all that well for "Suits LA," which was cancelled after one season despite the success of its mothership series. But make no mistake, we are still very much in the age of newstalgia, a streaming trend that's as simple as taking something popular from a bygone era and presenting it to modern audiences as if it were new.
"Bones" might not seem as though it belongs to a bygone time, as the show only wrapped up in 2017. But not only is that almost a decade ago, things have changed pretty dramatically since then. What's more, "Bones" debuted all the way back in 2005, meaning there's a whole TV-watching generation who have no recollection of a time when the show was dominating network TV. Heck, there's a whole generation that doesn't remember network TV, so "Bones" is very much prime newstalgia fodder.
Sadly, a "Bones" revival...

Apple TV+ Needs to Bring Back Sci-Fi Comedy Show Featuring Forgotten ‘Mission: Impossible 3’ Villain
In today’s league of genre-bending, Hello Tomorrow on Apple TV+ stood out like a rocket to the future, taking off from a suburban lawn but making it retro. Think Jetsons plus Mad Men aesthetic. They were deeply human themes wrapped in this slick sci-fi cover of a show. It not only entertained, but it also intrigued the audiences.
Billy Crudup was brilliant as Jack Billings, a morally ambiguous vacuum salesman who had dreams of going to the moon. He played the role with the same charisma that he had as the villain in Mission: Impossible 3. The first season of Hello Tomorrow with buzz, but it quickly fizzled out, only after one season, leaving fans wondering what could happen next.

The Diplomat has been renewed for season 4 ahead of the Netflix thriller's season 3 premiere, confirming Kate Wyler's story is far from finished. The Diplomat season 3 was first announced in October 2024, the same month season 2 of the political drama arrived on the platform. The show's original early renewal confirmed that Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) would be back for more, her investigation into an international terrorist conspiracy stretching far beyond its initial storyline. Season 3 is set to debut in Fall 2025, following a shocking cliffhanger during the season 2 finale.
Now, Varietyreports that The Diplomat season 4 has been confirmed ahead of season 3's arrival on Netflix later this year. Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria made the announcement during the streamer's upfronts in New York, confirming the thriller will continue beyond season 3. This renewal for the show is exceedingly early, especially since season 3 isn't due to premiere until later this year.

Jurassic World Rebirth: Scarlett Johansson Fights To Survive In New Photos From Upcoming Dino Sequel
As part of their summer movie previews, Entertainment Weekly, ScreenRant, and Empire have shared new stills from Jurassic World Rebirth, offering a killer new look at the franchise's newest leading lady Scarlett Johansson, who plays covert operations expert Zora Bennett, doing her best to survive all kinds of dino carnage.
Aside from a handful of brief glimpses, the early images from the film reveal remarkably few dinosaurs—likely because the production is keeping the Distortus rex and any other mutant dinos on the island tightly under wraps, so we'll just have to strap in this Fourth of July for all kinds of mayhem.
With How to Train Your Dragon due out in theaters in June, it seems highly probable that a new trailer for Rebirth will be arriving online sometime before the end of this month as they begin to ramp up the marketing campaign for an epic Jurassic June.

As Fox this morning unveiled its fall 2025 schedule, the network has four more scripted series whose fate has not been decided: sophomore Accused, third-year drama Alert: Missing Persons Unit as well as drama The Cleaning Lady, now in its fourth season, and animated comedy The Great North, in Season 5. All are on the bubble as the bottom four lowest ranked scripted series on the network.
Of the four, only one, Accused, developed and executive produced by 24 and Homeland’s Howard Gordon, has finished its most recent season, which wrapped in December. There were calls for its revival, and the actors of the series often got together at Comic Cons to reminisce about their experience.
Firefly was set 500 years into the future, when humans have entered a new star system. The series followed the adventures of a group of misfits aboard the Serenity, a Firefly-class spaceship. This group of nine anti-heroes was led by Fillion’s Malcolm Reynolds.
While a revival rumor is still in the air, the stars of the series have moved on. Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk have all gone on to build great careers for themselves and are actively part of successful projects. Here’s...

Debora Cahn knows the allure of political intrigue. The film and TV writer has spent the better part of her career exploring the knotty dilemmas and gripping power dynamics of the public sector, as a writer and producer of White House drama The West Wing and CIA thriller Homeland. But Cahn felt there were stories still untold, particularly about the individuals who — often quietly and behind the scenes — bear the brunt of some of the government’s trickiest work, including the building and maintaining of international relationships. “There’s not a long history in television of dramatic thrillers about diplomacy. It’s been tried and has failed in the past. But I have always been a real fangirl of the people who do this kind of work,” she explains. “It just felt like it would be a really great collision of person and place.”

“The Diplomat” isn’t just a thrilling ode to the delicate work done by international ambassadors (with an incredible star turn by Keri Russell); it’s an emissary, much like its subjects, for “humanity, dignity, and equality” around the world.
So say the Atx TV Festival and Human Rights Watch, who are partnering to present creator, showrunner, and writer Debora Cahn with the “Impact of Storytelling” award at this year’s Austin-based event. Cahn will be the inaugural recipient of the honor, which celebrates “a creative and/or series that has highlighted socially relevant issues through scripted or unscripted episodic storytelling, and foregrounded narratives that advocate for humanity, dignity, and equality.”

There are a few shows or movies that set a standard and a template for a whole genre. HBO’s 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers not only did that for war dramas but also launched and boosted many acting careers. The series, created by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, presented real-life events of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division throughout World War II.
The ensemble cast of Band of Brothers is one of the main reasons people still remember the show. Apart from playing the roles of soldiers, actors like Scott Grimes as Donald Malarkey, Kirk Acevedo as Joe Toye, and Damian Lewis as Richard Winters made the audience empathize with their losses and wins and connect with their camaraderie. Now, after more than two decades since its premiere, let’s catch up with some of these talented cast members and see what they are up to.

“Yunan” unfolds as a measured exploration of one man’s search for solace. Munir, a Hamburg-based novelist weighed down by chronic stress and a sense of dislocation, arrives on Germany’s marsh-flooded Hallig islands under a doctor’s recommendation to rest. Stripped of familiar routines, he confronts his own isolation amid windswept pastures and salt-stung air.
Director Ameer Fakher Eldin fashions this film as the second installment of his ‘Homeland’ project, following 2021’s debut. Coproduced across Palestine, Jordan, Canada, Germany, Italy and France, the movie bridges narratives of Middle Eastern displacement with European landscapes. This international partnership brings authenticity to a story centered on exile and human connection.
The film’s heartbeat is its unhurried tone, a naturalistic drama that alternates between Munir’s real-world encounters and poetic interludes drawn from a fragmentary fable. These dream-like sequences echo Abbasid poetry, weaving cultural symbolism into the stark northern coast.

Almost exactly a decade since espionage thriller “The Bureau” became the first series in France to adopt the American writer’s room format, French-American producer Alex Berger is still reaping the laurels of its success.
At Canneseries to promote the festival’s opening night screening of “The Agency,” the George Clooney-produced adaptation of his French hit, the veteran reflected on his career and impact in the industry, recalling how the European country “wasn’t used to doing the type of shows we were aiming for in the rhythm we wanted to do them in.”
By “we,” Berger refers to himself and multi-hyphenate creative and “The Bureau” showrunner Éric Rochant. The duo founded independent production company The Originals Productions in 2008 and perfected their practice following the success of their hit show, coining a technique titled Structured Writing Workshop. Although great novels do not always translate perfectly to the screen, using a profound piece of literature as inspiration is rarely a mistake. Many of the hardest aspects of storytelling are crafting characters with interiority, developing a world that feels like it could exist beyond the confines of the specific narrative, and detailing a time and era that informs the context of the situation. As a novel, “On Swift Horses” may have been pitched as an attempt to recapture the spirit of the “Great American Epic,” as there are innumerable comparisons to be made with the work of William Faulkner, John Steinbeck, and F. Scott Fitzgerlad. As a film, Daniel Minhan’s directorial debut is absorbing and understated, even if it often feels overexerted in trying to bring to life every detail from the page.

You think luck is when preparation meets opportunity—but sometimes, luck is just a phone call from someone who sees the potential in you before anyone else does. Naomi Watts’ big break wasn’t just a stroke of fortune, it was a turning point in her career, and, believe it or not, she owes a great deal of it to David Lynch, the late filmmaker whose movies dance in the shadowy corners of cinema.
When Watts was teetering on the edge of doubt about taking on the role of Ann Darrow in King Kong (2005), it was Lynch’s words that made her leap. And, well, just like that, she jumped right into the palm of cinema history.

Many regular theater-goers in New York likely play the following game. Before the show begins, try to guess how many of the actors you're about to see have been on an episode of "Law & Order" or one of its spinoffs. It may be wise to guess a number north of 15. After that, you open your Playbill and look through the actors' credits to confirm your guess. The person who comes closest without going over wins; everyone else has to pay for their meal after the show.
The "Law & Order" franchise has, as of this writing, close to 1,400 episodes under its belt, and each one of those episodes required at least one dead body and at least two suspects. This makes the property a hoop through which every working actor (especially in New York) has to inevitably jump. It's like entering the cave and taking the sword at the...

The Naked Gun Official Trailer Is The Single Most Important Trailer Of The Year (And Maybe All-Time)
To kickstart their very Mission: Impossible focused CinemaCon presentation, Paramount first debuted the official trailer for their upcoming action-comedy The Naked Gun, a movie they are cheekily describing as "The single most important Naked Gun movie since the other Naked Gun movies."

We also learn that he's playing Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's Lt. Frank Drebin, who the film will honor and it seems like they'll do it in typical Naked Gun fashion.

The film will provide some much-needed humor to an action-packed summer, opening in the wake of Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps and opposite the animated sequel The Bad Guys 2 and the body horror film Together. It's likely Fantastic Four will repeat as the box office champ,...

This summer, get ready for a whole new dino-filled adventure with Jurassic World Rebirth, a film that promises to take the franchise in a bold and terrifying new direction as new dinos and monsters descend on humanity, causing unprecedented mayhem.
During their CinemaCon presentation, Universal Pictures brought out director Gareth Edwards and stars Scarlett Johansson ("Zora Bennett") and Mahershala Ali ("Duncan Kincaid") to introduce their never-before-seen new footage from the upcoming blockbuster.
With all three of the previous entries topping $1 billion, it's a pretty safe bet that Rebirth will likely also reach those heights, especially with fans eager to see this bold and scary new direction as well as box office superstar Scarlett Johansson leading the charge.
Johansson is a longtime Jurassic superfan, telling the CinemaCon audience, “It has been a lifelong dream to be in a Jurassic movie.," before adding how she did everything in her power to be cast in this film,...

This summer, the Jurassic series evolves in an ingenious new direction with Jurassic World Rebirth. And the dinosaur sequel has now stomped its way into CinemaCon. Universal showcased new footage from the movie, which will probably be finding its way online very soon with the movie hitting cinemas this summer. As per ScreenRant, the footage plays out as follows:
Begins with an alarm going off in the lab, with someone getting stuck inside a chamber with one of the mutant dinosaurs (the red room we see in the marketing materials). “In the island we’re heading to, two dozen species have survived there alone.” A T-rex is walking into water, chasing a group of people on a dinghy. Lots of shots from scenes shown in the trailer. “Survival is a long shot,” says Jonathan Bailey’s character. As they’re trying to escape the island on a boat, the mososaurus finds them and attacks.

With over 60 TV directing credits to her name and counting, DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter knows a thing or two about how the entertainment industry works. After getting her start on Steven Spielberg’s “Amazing Stories,” she went on to work on shows such as “Twin Peaks,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Homeland,” and more recently the Robert De Niro-led “Zero Day” on Netflix. Her work has brought her all over the world, but as she puts it in a recent interview in The Hollywood Reporter, there’s nothing quite like making art in Los Angeles.
However, following costs rising as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and consolidation in the wake of the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, production has declined severely in the City of Angels. Closing a remarkable circle, TF1 espionage thriller “State of Alert,” starring legendary French singer-actor Patrick Bruel in his first major TV work, will world premiere March 27 at Series Mania.
The red carpet affair, featuring other cast and crew, will take place at the very same festival where Keshet Intl. head of drama Atar Dekel, having put through initial development, pitched the series as an Israeli project way back in 2018.
A fast-paced thriller set between Paris and the spectacular white-sand Negev Desert in Southern Israel, “State of Alert” kicks off with a taxi 43 kilometres outside Paris. Anatoly, a Russian journalist, is called on his cell-phone. When he answers, the taxi stops, on a railway crossing. The taxi doors lock, as a train thunders towards the car.
The assassination almost certainly involved software developed by Israeli intelligence services which can send a virus through a cell-phone call to take control of a car.
