I am glad that Turkish producers are trying new ways to tell stories about horror and mystery, other than bad spirits which goes on of years (siccin, bokcin). I've read the book and loved how the story dissolves in later episodes. Saw some minor light problems, maybe because i also do YouTube shootings it caught my eye. Loved the costumes and decors which i think reflects the spirit of the era pretty well. Also the social structures are done well. Glad to see someone whos putting effort and work into music composing, it felt way different compared to other local productions. I wish the episodes were longer.
But after i switched to Turkish I came to realize this is a marvelous story with incredible depth, soul, and a real insight into the nature of human hearts and human character (from an albeit inhuman being's experiences).
This is a Frankenstein story to be sure, but it's got a life of its own and should be judged not on its closeness to Mary Shelly but its own merits as a cinemagraphic artwork. I have no clue why so many haters have dropped the rating down to a lowly 6 but this is a piece of fiction Netflix truly excelled in acquiring. Just hope the ending isn't the end.
My only criticism is the failure to provide true closure in the final episode, but in a way it tries to whilst holding the door open for a greenlight of another season it seems (as evident from the 2023 - ___ for its dates). Very good work directors, actors, team and historians. You've actually made me want to dive into more Turkish cinema, something I had 0 interest in or knowledge of prior.
Cheers.

Creature (Yaratilan) The Netflix limited series 8 episodes and is from Turkey. It follows a medical student who tries to break the boundaries of religion and science by bringing the dead back to life, but what comes back is far from what he expected.
This series is a highly unusual adaptation of the Frankenstein story, starting with the ancient beliefs of Islam and delving into the realm of science. The later episodes are filled with intense and heart-wrenching drama. While the narrative may not always flow seamlessly and features some peculiar pacing due to the significant divergence from the original, the story remains engaging and intriguing because of its unique approach.

I randomly turned on the series but watched it all night. At first, I found it very strange that 37-year-old Taner Ölmez was playing a 17-20 year old young man who had just started attending Mektebi Tibbiye. He couldn't get over his role in the TV series 'A Miracle' but the series drew me in so much that i forgot about it after a very short time. I NEVER AGREE with comments claiming that the series is cliché. I couldn't predict how it would progress and end until the last moment. When I first looked, the IMBd score was 6.4, it is pleasing to increase by 2 points but it needs to increase even more.
If you have the patience, the last two episodes of the series are truly incredible! The only downside is the presence of a young child, who, if ignored, can easily lead you to binge-watch all the episodes in a single day. Nevertheless, the series delivers a powerful message about love and humanity, serving as a poignant reminder of the significance of family bonds. Moreover, it imparts a valuable lesson on the prevalence of arrogance over scientific knowledge in life's intricate tapestry. Through its narrative, 'Patient' skillfully illustrates how sometimes, despite the leaps and bounds made in scientific understanding, human hubris can still overshadow progress. The characters in the series are brilliantly portrayed, each contributing a unique dimension to the overarching storyline. Their interactions are delicately woven, providing viewers with moments of both heartwarming tenderness and gut-wrenching conflict. The cinematography is nothing short of breathtaking, with every frame meticulously composed to evoke emotion and immerse the audience in the world of the characters. The attention to detail in set design and costume adds depth to the narrative, further enhancing the viewer's experience. In addition, the soundtrack deserves special mention. It expertly underscores the emotional highs and lows, effectively drawing viewers deeper into the unfolding drama. The music becomes an integral part of the storytelling, complementing the actors' performances and enhancing the overall impact of the series.
