I really enjoyed the rough cut of this film.

Comedy? This trash?

Whoever decided to promote this rubbish as a comedy needs a sense of humour transplant. Seriously. This waste of an otherwise blank DVD is singularly unfunny.

I read a review on here by a guy claiming to be 'a fellow film maker'. He claims that at some point in the movie, "comedy ensues." He's wrong. There is no comedy in this rubbish. Absolutely none. Not a skerrick of it anywhere.

The same reviewer also claimed "Living Will is going to go very far... You will not be disappointed." Well, yes, I guess it went very far; to the garbage tip after I tossed it into the bin.

As for being disappointed, absolutely no disappointment here at all. In fact, turning this trash off, scouring a huge, deep scratch into the DVD's data/play side with a heavy screwdriver then cutting a pair of fatal puncture wounds into it with a hole punch and a hammer before junking it with the leftovers from dinner was very pleasurable.

I scored this at 2/10. It would have got 1/10 but the 500 millisecond shot of a printed T-shirt carrying a derogatory statement about Sarah Palin saved it.

Certainly doesn't suck

Simple premise: the ghost of a guy's best friend interfere's with his love life. I rarely laughed out loud, but I certainly never cringed. Ryan Dunn's beard plays a very nice poor man's version of Zach Galifianakis beard. The film knows it is silly, and it pokes fun at itself. The humor here is not quite my taste, but still I could not fault it. I am not too sure though about the initial premise leading to the best friend's death. Is constipation something that even happens to young men? Could a young man even from constipation? So the initial setup seems to have a small fault. Yes, it's absurd and silly, but the medical condition seemed a bit too plausible to be humorous. Perhaps if the death and funeral scenes weren't so farcical.

Worth Your Time if You're a Dunn Fan

As a lifelong fan of Ryan Dunn, I quite like this film. It's certainly not award worthy, has way too much sexual content and not a lot of depth, but what can you expect? There are several laughable moments, one of which is Bam Margera's cameo appearance, and in spite of yourself, you actually care about what happens to the characters. I also love the indie soundtrack, even though some songs seem out of place at times. It's important to remember this is a goofy comedy that doesn't take itself seriously and despite the fact that some of the situations seem forced and the premise itself is ridiculous, there is real feeling beneath the shallow exterior. As I said, to enjoy this film you should be familiar with Dunn's previous projects and his outlandish acting style. It's clearly not for everyone but if, like me, you appreciate the silly and absurd, Living Will... will definitely tickle your funny bone and makes a nice addition to your memorabilia collection. It's sad Dunn never got to see the finished product before he tragically died. If anything, the film should be revered as his final curtain call.
