I can't believe the lower rating on this film just because what, it's filmed in China where free speech and media is controlled heavily? I don't think so. We should quit our bias against the entire entity and view this film from a wider perspective. This film is perfect, it's such an emotionally intriguing drama that I couldn't help but sit through the end and cry. Characters progress and develop in unexpected ways and relationships are laid out raw and true. Espicially the early 2000s in a rapidly changing China, this movie shows an insight to this changing world as the protaganist grows up. This film deserves much more recognition, though at times pacing and things seem a bit random, it's super raw and unfiltered further enhancing it's deeper connection with the audience.
