Even better than Part 1. I love this franchise.

Hooray, part 2 of this super cheesy franchise is just awesome, I love that these films are such fun and lighthearted and don't go over the top with the drama. Part 2 picks up where the first film left off, Skye has fled the scene of the murders and has set out to find her long lost mother, she is greeted with open arms when she arrives on her mothers doorstep and all seems well for Skye as she attempts to put her life back together, that is until the killer turns up again and starts hacking people up, AWESOME!

This installment is even better than the first one for many reasons, the character of Skye is given a lot more depth which allows the viewer to really care about her story, this also feels slot more like an actual movie, obviously this franchise is made for television but it does a good job of seeming like more than that, the kids getting murdered in this movie are even more dislikable than the first so its great to see them get it. I personally would have preferred it if the supporting cast from the first film were left out of this, the whole searching for Skye plot kinda bored me, it was an unnecessary plot line but oh well you can't win em' all.

I hope the third movie does get made, these films are such fun and a third installment would put the icing on the cake. I hope Lauren McKnight gets more roles in actual movies because I think she could be awesome, well even more awesome than she already is, kinda like a less angry and more naturally edgy Kristen Stewart, she's pretty cool. Grade A teen slasher fun.

One complaint

My one complaint about this movie is that it's shot like a TV movie. It's bigger and better on almost every way except for the shooting style and that's just a bummer.

Worthless sequel that's totally without merit

Believe it or not, I enjoyed MY SUPER PSYCHO SWEET 16. Sure, it was no great shakes as a film, but for a TV movie - a slasher TV movie, no less - it was surprisingly decent, with inventive twists and a good, gruesome atmosphere.

By comparison, this sequel is horrendous. The plot is a lukewarm retread of the first film's, except without the originality or atmosphere. The cast are horrible, the performances are entirely 'meh' and, even worse, the deaths are either kept off-screen or dealt with in the most perfunctionary way possible.

Aside from a couple of knifings, there's almost nothing going on in MY SUPER PSYCHO SWEET 16: PART 2. The first film was a surprise, but this is everything I expected that to be when I first heard about it, in other words: bad!

Worthy Sequel of a Decent Film

The movie follows right after the massacre of the previous film. Skye flees to her mother's house (who abandoned her as a child) and upon her arrival discovers she has a half sister named Alex, who resembles the likes of Madison (Rich and Popular). Her mother decides she can stay for the time being after Sky fills her in on the tragedy she just endured. Alex is soon talked into throwing a party in her Father's "Club", which coincidentally Little do they know, Charlie Rotter is indeed alive and he's come to crash their party.

This movie should fare well with most. My Super Psycho 16 II is paced rightly and well directed. It has an interesting cast of characters and is sound on developing conflict amongst the main players. It does however fail to avoid some horror movie clichés (including advertising apple products all the time) such as nightmares, teenage drinking, and knives that look like they came from a pirate ship. I recommend for horror fans and people who aren't offended by slasher movies.

My rating: B-

Slightly less than the first

Right after the murders at the Rollerdome, Skye Rotter (Lauren McKnight) runs away while her father Charlie (Alex Van) escapes. She reunites with her mother (Myndy Crist) who has since built a peaceful suburban life. She has a daughter Alex Bell (Kirsten Prout) who is Skye's half-sister. Alex's manipulative friend Zoe Chandler (Stella Maeve) pressures her to steal her father's keys to his now-closed club. They plan on a big party coincidentally on Skye's 16th birthday. Meanwhile Charlie has followed Skye to her new home. Brigg Jenner (Chris Zylka) and Derek Mcnamera (Matt Angel) also tracked down their friend Skye.

This is a weak TV horror franchise to begin with. The first movie had some classic horror moments. The last half of that movie has some good points in it. This one increases the family drama. Kirsten Prout is quite good at the pretty sweet girl character. I especially like Stella Maeve as the conniving frienemy. However there are a few too many over-emotional melodrama. As for the horror aspect, this one actually lost some of its slasher horror feel. Charlie Rotter is usually without his mask which just leaves him looking like a homeless dude. The kills aren't as dramatic or as fun. I gave the first one a barely passing grade, but this one is slightly below that.

Even better

I actually think that this is technically a better film than the first. The characters are better and the storyline is more interesting. There's also not as much slower moments, they get right to the action pretty early.
