Low watermark for Swedish family film. The actor playing Håkan is one of the worst child actors I have ever seen. He simply delivers his lines with no trace of feelings. The story is all over the place and for most part makes no sense what so ever. Not even the kids were laughing and adults wished for it to be over from the start. This has strong connection to the old movies about "Sune" but with no feeling or comedy. I highly recommend watching the original movies about "Sune" were Håkan has a much more comedic part and charm. Even Håkans dad "Rudolf" used to very funny but has been reduced to a pointless role which adds nothing to the movie.
In my opinion, this is much funnier than most adult comedies. Without a doubt.
For me, who loves Calvin and Hobbes, this is intelligently thought out with successful elements of the children's fantasy world. The actors who portray Håkan and his mother in particular are brilliant. But the father also works quite well.
Very successful balance between funny situations and credibility. The only thing that becomes contrived and ridiculous is how they portray bandits. The bandits are at the same low level as in Home Alone, or worse. Crude and unworthy.
But what brings the rating down from 8 to 7, is the foul language used. Shame on Swedish filmmakers for contributing to such undignified language. 😒
