This film is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. It has some of the best animation and music I have ever witnessed. The physics-defying scenery, parkour races and flashbacks create a very colourful and dynamic atmosphere.

However, it barely had any story. The characters are just stand-ins for typical anime tropes, the romance is forced and there seems to be no overall "point". The entire plot could be described in two sentences without any loss of detail.

This latest Netflix original anime by WIT Studio, having ensemble big names involved is brilliant with regards to its animation, however felt short in terms of storyline.

Tetsuro Araki, the renowed director behing Shingeki no Kyojin directs this dystopain sci-fi version of 'A Littler mermaid'. The characters felt a little underdeveloped, given the screentime of mere 100 minutes. While the movie bears influences of the classic fairy tale, they are rather loose, and at some parts, do seem to be shoehorned into the plot.

The animated feature, helmed by Studio WIT, is a breathtaking sight to behold, with its striking, vibrant colours breathing life into the desolated, forgotten city of Tokyo. The visual design also changes nicely to reflect the atmosphere of specific scenarios: action scenes get louder, bolder hues, domestic moments feature softer lighting, and intense sequences welcome ominous, darker colour mixing. Meanwhile, the landscape boasts details that allude to real-world Tokyo, such as Animate stores, Japanese ferries, and the star of the show, the Tokyo Tower.

The soundtrack gets a mention as well, as it was unique and melodious in its own way. The cinematography was amazing, capturing the parkour sport effectively. It's unfortunate that Bubble couldn't reach its narrative potential, because it excels everywhere else.

At the core of it, Bubble is a visually-gripping anime movie that presents an innovative and interesting premise, but couldn't deliver the best to its potential. I would recommend Bubble for a one time watch, due to its outstanding animation and cinematography

Animation in this is something out of this world, the colors are beautiful. Everything about animation was amazing. I am so sad that story is mess and charachters are not developed or special in any way.

Visually stunning from start to finish. They made sure that even if most people don't like this film, the animation will make everyone captivated. The plot is just a post-apocalyptic Little Mermaid from the opposite perspective which they remind us again and again in an attempt to make sure no one, I mean absolutely no one misses the reasoning behind their choices. Even with such attention to detail in animation and sound effects, the film manages to be bland a lot. Despite its blandness, they did manage to make the animation itself work in the narrative a lot to make it worthwhile too. It's really a mixed bag where if you like the animation you may like it.

The graphics, visuals and "choreography" are interesting and fun to watch and keep your attention all the way through, but in the end the story is a letdown. No rhyme, reason, or point to this movie. The characters are semi-interesting but not deeply developed.

This is just basic action / adventure anime with a pseudo-romantic story thrown in. It seems the writers / directors were trying to say something, but it never really comes across as being very important. Basically it's just a fairy tale without a lesson to be learned.

I give it 6 stars for being interesting to watch, but it came very close to receiving a "mediocre 5". But had to give it an extra point for good graphics.

This was a beautiful movie. One of the reasons I love anime is because of the beautiful graphics. I loved the design of uta and the setting of having the overgtrown tokyo where kids play parkour was interesting, It was emotional and kept me entertained to the end. What a beautiful film.

To be honest, for most part of the movie, I didn't even understand what was happening but I was still latched on to the screen because it was that interesting to watch. The visuals and cinematography were amazing too. Watch it in the highest resolution possible for maximum enjoyment. It's not a ground breaking movie, but it was pretty good. For casual watching, this can be on top of your lists! It was mesmerizing. Unlike some of the reviews here which say animation was bad, it was the opposite for me. It was only the animation which kept me hooked to the screen else I might have dropped it pretty soon. This however doesn't mean the storyline was utter trash, it was okay but I expected a much better storyline though. Overall, it's pretty fun for a one time watch!! Not to mention the bgm was pretty nice too, indeed it will be as it was made by the G. O. A. T Hiroyuki Sawano who has worked on many successful projects. WIT studio also did an amazing job at animating this.

Bubble feels way too derivative from far better told anime stories. It seems oddly random the mix of Parkour with the little mermaid tale using a post-apocalyptic-ish Tokyo, definitely it was what stuck to the wall and the creators just scrapped the very bottom to come up with something.

The visuals are good, the dynamic action set pieces are jaw dropping at some points but the action alone it's no a redeeming quality for a movie that had lots of potential wasted in a nonsensical story that has been told way too many times and barely becomes interesting. Paper thin and stereotypical characters, non-developed background stories, logic that just don't make sense(even in its own universe), and a resolution that was predictable within the first 5 minutes makes Bubble a disappointing experience.

One might argue that my rating is way too high, I have to say that the soundtrack and visuals in this movie are stellar! There were also some moments of intense action and just pure awesomeness, I couldn't help but fall in love with the movie. I also really like Uta and Hibiki as characters. They were very special! Definitely worth a rewatch a hundredfold.

Coming into 2022, this anime was one of my most anticipated movies. We have the director of Attack on Titan Season 1-3 and Death Note, WIT studio, writer of Fate/Zero, and the composer of Attack on Titan coming together to make this sci-fi action thriller.

Let's get the obvious out of the way. The animation was breathtakingly gorgeous. There was never a boring shot. Every single frame and motion was jaw-droppingly beautiful. WIT studio poured their heart out to make this masterpiece of animation. Just like in other anime from WIT like Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song, the close-up animation of character's face was distinctly angelic. Those moments were special, and I'm still in awe.

However, sadly the story did not deserve such godlike animation. There's a blend of Little Mermaid, spiral, bubbles, and parkour. Unfortunately these elements did not work out very well. The first half of the movie felt like it was going nowhere. The characters were mostly uninteresting, which made the emotional scenes less impactful. The encompassing theme of this movie just did not land.

Overall, I don't think it's bad, as I still had a good time, but with this much power dedicated to make this supposedly masterpiece, Bubble was still a disappointment. 7-7.5/10.

It does make up for in visual beauty. I got bored a lot because many things were under-explained. Much of the story needed more depth, as well as character building. The visuals were beautiful, though.

The animation is nice and the parkour scenes, while not instructive or realistic in any way, are fluid and nicely done. However the characters and the plot are so derivative!! And not of The Little Mermaid, which a character has to read and then incessantly quote from, just in case we're really dumb and don't get it, but of every Japanese anime ever. Lovely innocent child-like magical girl? Check. Kind, shy, weird and skillful boy? Check. Group of diverse (in the Japanese way) nakamas that will help the hero reach the goal? Check. Magical unexplained phenomena that people treat by leaving and eventually using it as a parkour course where no one seems to actually die? Check. Old mentor-san to guide the energy of youth? Check. Overly cautious (which in this case would have been reasonable) adult woman to contrast the power of youthful feeling? Check. World changing events that somehow have to have the main characters as the main cause and center? Check.

Bottom line: felt like a money grab, rather than an anime. Not that anime is not made for money, and not like most of them are not utterly crap, but it was like a toilet scrubber made of gold. So much potential wasted on an opaque and pointless story.

Tldr: it's a flawed story with likable characters, a lot of cool yet mostly unexplored ideas, top tier animation and an amazing soundtrack. By no means a must watch, but still worth watching if you're interested in the concepts or want some top notch parkour animation.

For the lack of a better word, this movie was lacking.

But why? The concept is great, the music is amazing, the animation is some of the best out there and the writing while not the best of the best, it is also far from being bad.

So why? What could possibly be the reason...

Loosely based on little mermaid. A well known story, that even if you somehow don't know it, you will since the movie tells it, and says how it ends not too far into the first act, and to me, that's this movie's biggest downfall. Basing your main plot around a well known story, means audience having a good idea of what the story beholds from the start, which obviously is not the best thing, specially when you say how it ends and make sure the few who don't know it are also spoiled.

But unlike what you may think, that's not always a bad move ,while that type of story in most cases is not as good or at least not as interesting as a truly original idea, it can and has worked before in many cases. But for that to happen you need a little something called, "reasons"

if those reasons aren't present, you are just actively spoiling your story for no, well, "reason". And to no ones surprise, all spoilers do, is lessening the impact. And ruining the shock factor.

Again, it can work.

You can use the known story, to set up a twist by breaking the audiences expectation.

You can expand upon the idea and add to it.

Or you can even just remake it in a different setting, but in that case telling the audience what you are based on from the start becomes a moronic move.

The problem with bubble is that other than the elements mirroring the little mermaid story, it doesn't expand on ANYTHING.

Where did the bubble came from? Who knows.

Why had the time stopped in the tower? Who knows.

Why was the girls sister which was the other part of these "bubble" angry when she left? Who knows.

Where did the bubble go? "yOu sEe thErE arE tHeSe vorTex"

no that is not an explanation. That's cop out answer/theming at best. At the very least the movie could have it match the themes of the show like what parasyte The maxim did.

The show had a lot of ideas, but it didn't even attempt to go through any of them outside of the bare minimum. I just don't get it, if all you had to offer in terms of story was the little mermaid story, why would you even think of telling that to the audience DIRECTLY.

And I do mean that, the romance barely functioned since it was kind of rushed, and the characters where just ok. Nothing bad, but in no way special either. There is no message, there is no symbolism, there is no clever foreshadowing, theming or plot twist.

All the story had, was the little mermaid story and some unexplored ideas, and for some reason decided to spoil a massive part of it by telling you what the story is based on.

It's not all disappointment though. The animation and art are out of this world. The background were also some of the most wall paper worthy I have seen in a long time.

The music was also great. It didn't blow me away and become one of the best I have heard, but It was great through out the whole movie.

But the sad truth is that, this movie felt unfinished. It left a lot to the imagination in the worst way possible.

Wit has never missed the mark as far as I have seen, and this too was by no means a bad movie, but it was certainly disappointing.

Bubble is an anime movie that had a lot of potential. And it wasn't exactly disappointing, but it did not capitalise on it's potential.

It essentially has the exact same story as the Little Mermaid. In fact the movie keeps mentioning the similarity 'The little mermaid" on it's own. So there's nothing at all to expect from it's story. In fact, even after being same, the storytelling is rather complicated. Most of the dialogue is filled with exposition. Characters say things to each other that they'll never actually say naturally, and it's obvious they are directly talking to the audience. It has sort of a post apocalyptic setting, but it never really explains what exactly happened in the past. Or the reason behind certain fictional elements. It's obviously okay to be to have fantasy elements, but if something is important to your story it has to have a reason. The side characters too, are one dimensional and unnecessary.

But I don't regret watching this movie. Story-wise it's definitely dull but it's directed brilliantly. The visionary way this world is shown definitely captivates it's viewers. And the beautiful animation plays a huge part in that. So visually, it looks brilliant, but it even sounds brilliant. The songs and soundtrack are really really good. There is a song that constantly plays in the background, and it was really catchy and fit in perfectly with the visuals. Because of the soundtrack and direction, some moments did give me goosebumps. The voice acting also feels fresh.

In the end it's sort of a 50-50 experience, but it was definitely an experience. It reminded me of weathering with you where the visuals and soundtrack are amazing, but the story is just not good. Here, the story isn't necessarily bad, but it's dull.

The story is rather basic, not Bad, i really enjoyed it, but not the kind of story you think about afterwards. What really elevates the story are the characters, which are also rather simple, but so likeable you just want to see them succeed and be happy, and the beautiful animation and soundtrack.

Still worth watching just for everything else than a story which is just meh...

If you enjoy love stories/parkour you may even enjoy it a little more.

I wasn't bored. That's it. Nothing more and nothing else. Fortunately everything is so beautiful in the film that it was carrying the weak story/screenplay. You can totally pass it and lose nothing. If you enjoy beautiful art the film should be worth your time just because how amazing it has been drawn. Everything else might be a bonus.

I would have give it 5 /10 at best but everything else was super good... Too much cringe in the story. I am still glad someone tries something new, etc. But this one... oh well... Maybe someone else can enjoy it much more/

Characters chemistry is good Story is also ok not much fancy ye although Sound effects - i think they used similar music from Bollywood movie koi mil Gaya There is scene in koi mil Gaya movie where Rohit (main protagonist )contact aliens through computer Both music sound similar that's why it was weird experience for me 😃
