This was a lot better than i was expecting, in fairness to it.
There was a bit of scene setting and then it was right into the action with passengers one by one getting munched by the over grown Goldfish of the deep.
It was well shot, at times the script was a bit lacking, and most of the main characters were decent enough, though the lad who broke his arm in the crash was one you just had no interest in as he was far too obnoxious in the opening scenes.
It did a decent job in building a bit of tension, though, for me anyway, it was obvious which characters were going to survive from early on, so although it succeeded in the tension, it did lack in suspense.
It's certainly better than some of the reviews would suggest. It's not going to be an 'Oscar' nominated film, but it's by no means awful.

So, I give movies a chance if they're over a 5 star on IMDB. This one wasn't so I'm giving a review. It's trash but it's watchable trash.
The fear of being stuck on an airplane gives this an immediate sense of dread. It has a good setup- in an airport, fussy antagonists, dad who is ambivalent to his daughter who might try and come in and save the day? There's an actor who I thought was Gerard Depardieu but is not him, but whoever he is did a great job. The rest of the cast is great.
The camerawork is also well done. I don't live in LA, but I assume this is what it looks like. This is worth a watch for sure.

This is a film about a Teddy who survives being lost in an airport, a plane crash and sharks only to be heartlessly tossed back onto the dark watery depths by his owner! Justice for Mr Timms!!!
I realise it wasn't setting out to be an epic and it's quite entertaining, I did keep shouting, not sure sharks do that and I'd have liked some of the minor characters to have a bit more of an arc but hey, it does what it says on the tin. One character does something toward the end that I found particularly frustrating, I just don't think that would be a choice a grandmother would make but hey we are not looking for realism. That poor Teddy though.

I was undecided about the rating... I wanted to give 4 but then I decided to give it a 3.
I am a fan of movies about sharks. I think I watched all of them. Yeah sometimes they are unrealistic, but shark swimming down the aisle of an airplane is whole another level!
Order of illogical scenes made me think how filmmaker brain works and how anyone can see this as logical and normal?
Found the movie quite boring, I almost fell asleep. It didn't hold my attention and it was predictable.
Worth watching?
Not really.
Would I watch if there was part 2?
Absolutely. Just because I have soft spot for shark movies.

After reading the reviews I just had to see this movie to see if it was as bad as so many stated. Turns out it was decent and deserved a watch. Makes me wonder just how many decent movies I've missed because I relied on the reviews of others who apparently expect each movie they review to be an Oscar winner or it isn't worth watching. Needless to say, I will be considering a lot more movies in the future and relying less on the reviews. I also wonder if the people giving bad reviews have some sort of agenda? I would hate to think so but nowadays just about anything is possible. Anyway, enjoy the movie and if not, consider your expectations maybe need adjustment.
The movie has no proper plot. The acting is very poor. The main actress is so pethatic. Most of the thrillng scenes has been copy pasted from other movies. Overall this is not a movie that deserves your money. You may watch it when it's free at any platform. Don't waste your time watching it in the cinema.
You get to see the actors saying stories to calm themselves which does not mitigate the situation and nakes you feel bored . The survivals selection makes no sense and the way the heron has survived is so unrealistic.
The plane crash happened in seconds and no pilot scene was displayed....

I'm both a physicist and a dive instructor. Though I enjoyed the movie there are a number of things completely wrong.
Let's see what would happen with an empty glass bottle with the cap on it in the water.
If you drop the bottle in the water it will float. If you force the bottle down (eg by attaching it with a rope to an anvil that you toss in the deep) then at some depth the bottle will burst as the ambient pressure will have increased what the bottle can withstand. Up until the bursting of the bottle the pressure in the bottle will jsbr been what it was on the surface: 1 bar of pressure (metric system).
If you hold the bottle vertically (leave the cap on) and remove the bottom of the bottle with a glass cutter (so it's now open at the bottom) and then lower the bottle (while keeping it vertical) in the water then the pressure of the air in the bottle will increase with depth and the volume will shrink. For example at 10 meters depth both the ambient pressure and the pressure of the air in the bottle will have doubled to 2 bar, the volume of the air will have halved (from say 1 liter to 0.5 liter). The glass will have no reason whatsoever to break as the pressure everywhere is at equilibrium, that is: there are no pressure differences.
Ok, now instead of the bottle we have the plane. The plane has a large hole in it so it's equivalent to the vertical bottle with the bottom removed.
The rescue divers in the movie were using regular recreational scuba gear, this means the depth will at most have been 40 meters, this means the ambient pressure will have been 5 bar. This means that while the plane was going down in the water the occupants of the plane will have had to cope with an enormous increase in pressure on their air holding tissues and will have had to quickly equalize (vasalva maneuver: pinch nose and blow in it) or their ear drums would have burst, leading to vertigo.
But let's assume they actually did that. That means they are now in 40m of water at 5 bar of pressure and they need to make it to the surface.
By having spent time at this depth a lot of gas (air) has now dissolved in their tissues, if they were to quickly rise to the surface that gas would come out of solution and form bubbles in their blood stream, in other words: they would get the bends! It's like shaking a bottle of coke and then quickly opening the cap: all gas dissolved in the coke immediately forms bubbles. They would immediately have to be taken to a barometric chamber with a slim chance of survival.
The inflatable life jackets are powered by a small canister of gas (CO2), at the surface the gas in the canister is at a high enough pressure to inflate the life jacket. At 40m depth however the volume it can inflate will have been reduced to 20% (1/5th, because 5 bar) of what it could inflate at the surface and this might not at all be enough to inflate the life jacket. A bit of air will definitely get in the life jacket but the upward force of it will be severely limited because of the reduced volume.
The best they could have done when they entered the water was IMMEDIATELY swim through the hole in the side and make it to the surface. The sooner the better.
Also, because air expands with decreasing ambient pressure, that is: when escaping from a sinking vessel, do NOT hold your breath or your lungs will explode. If you take a deep breath (say max capacity) at 10 meters depth and swim to the surface while holding your breath the volume of your lungs would have doubled, that's impossible so they will explode instead.
So do NOT hold your breath but look up and make an 'Aaaaaaaah' sound, this will give the air in your lungs the chance to escape without causing damage.
Other than that, nice movie!

Don't take the snarling shark in the trailer as anything other than a better MacGuffin than Colm Meaney's utterly pointless character. They are taking the topic of a plane crashing into the ocean, sinking to the bottom and sharks swimming down the aisles seriously! And the Director, presenting the film as "A Claudio Fah film", is all in. I fully expected this to be satire...
No doubt reviews will be metaphor filled, for the creators of this mess of a movie have set themselves up for critics to go straight to something to declare.
First up, the trailer shows the entire plot of the film, leaving nothing to garner from spending your money and time on actually going to watch this plane crash of a movie. If you need to waste time and cannot think of anything better to do (I mean ANYTHING), watch the trailer on loop.
Sounds as arduous as a long-haul flight in the middle seat? Well, watching this movie is!
The movie is like a flight on a bad budget airline, it's totally cheap, offers zero frills and treats you like a subhuman. Clearly, the producers had a pre-flight cocktail of ethanol to think this was a good film to make. And when they realised the projects dire situation and asked if anyone can fly a plane, the wannabe Director, Claudio Fahr raised his hand up, for we know where the Director was in this turbulent effort - he was in the cockpit at the controls plunging the actors to the lowest depths!
The script, with its cringe plot and subplots, is like finding a used sick bag in the seat pocket in front of you - it will have you retching.
Exposition is as subtle as the safety instructions on a plane, recited by a weary flight attendant who knows you're not listening. Every plot point is telegraphed with the subtlety of an in-flight meal - you see it coming, and it's just as unappetizing when it arrives.
"Characters from different backgrounds are thrown together" very true! The character development, or lack thereof, leaves the actors struggling to perform convincingly. The filmmakers lacklustre effort to pack into your luggage themes of survival, resilience, human spirit and even a contrived attempt of a homosexuality sub plot end up lost in a cloud of clichés and predictability which is just plain boring.
The setting, a potentially claustrophobic and terrifying air pocket in a submerged airplane, is squandered, much like the oxygen within it. Instead of using this to build tension and evoke a visceral reaction, it's relegated to being just another backdrop for lacklustre dialogues and naff shark attacks that feel as if they were added as an afterthought - a desperate attempt to inject some thrill into the waterlogged narrative.
The unrealistic climax, which should have been a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat affair, is as deflating as a life jacket that's been punctured. Our protagonist's escape and subsequent rescue are executed with such a lack of finesse that one can't help but wonder if the script itself was a survivor of a similar disaster - battered, bruised, and barely clinging to coherence.
Calling the airline Vista is an unintentional nod to the infamous Windows Vista - a perfect metaphor for this film: a system full of glitches and unmet potential. Like the operating system, 'No Way Up' promises a lot but crashes spectacularly, leaving us with nothing but a screen of disappointment. It's an ironic nod that inadvertently highlights the movie's own failings - a flight of fancy that never leaves the runway.
In conclusion, 'No Way Up' is a cinematic S. O. S., a distress signal that went unheeded by its creators. It's a stark reminder that a thrilling premise alone cannot buoy a film; it requires the life vest of a solid script, compelling characters, and a pilot capable of navigating the treacherous waters of storytelling. Unfortunately for the audience, this Director can't fly.

Mediocre horror-themed movie at sea, released in 2024. It's a cheap and boring movie, with scenes that don't make sense.
First of all, the characters are extremely repulsive. That's why you can't feel sad or excited for anyone. With a good script, director and cast, it would likely be an extremely tense movie. The man managed to make the audience experience tension and despair throughout the movie by leaving only a married couple in the middle of the ocean (See: Open Water)
In this movie, the plane crashes into the ocean and lands on the seabed. A living space remains inside, but there are sharks outside too. There are people who cry hysterically or make jokes in many situations.
As someone who gives these kinds of movies a chance and enjoys watching the ones I find good, I say this movie is a waste of time.
There is no sexuality or nudity in the movie.

Haven't seen so much tripe in all my years, how do people pay to watch this mediocre rubbish is beyond me. The only interest I had in it was the shark story, as we are all still gripped by Jaws, but this took it to new depths !! From poor acting to no real story it never got off the "sea bed", apologies for the poor joke probably as bad as the film. If you are a film lover and a student of the arts, this is not for you by a country mile, stick to the muppet show or Sesame Street if you're that way inclined. Me, I'm off to watch jaws again to redeem my faith in decent shark movies - please be kind if you are replying to my appraisal 😀

A really poor movie. Dreadful acting.....I mean, just dreadful! Empty story, sad characters, not much of a climax. Fell asleep twice, but clearly didn't miss much. 90 minutes I will never get back. It beats me why actors ever agree to do movies like this, they must be really desperate because it surely won't do their career any good at all. The script was appalling, so predictable, and the music was just lifted from so many other disaster movies. It is listed as horror, but I must have missed that bit. Also thrilling, but I am still struggling to understand what was thrilling about the film. Avoid.

This is a case of if the filmmakers had a big budget, and bigger stars that this film would have been far better.
For what is was, No Way Up is an entertaining film, that showed a great deal of potential. I don't think it was any less believable than say Meg and Meg 2. So I don't see why it is getting the hate. Sometimes you have to watch a movie and appreciate that the filmmaker did the best they could. This is definitely the case. I was not bored once whilst watching No Way Up. I would have to say it is actually better than all the other shark films that have surfaced lately. So if you can watch a film for what it is, and appreciate the potential it had, you should enjoy this film.

No way up was certainly interesting, the premise also being as believable as flying sharks. Sure, it was a strange movie, but it isn't Oscar Worthy material, was it fun? Yes. Was it entertaining? Yes. Was the acting mostly good? Another Yes. Not every movie has to be an Oscar worthy film, some films are better that way, take "Meg films" for example, they are just a good fun time, where you do have to suspend your disbelief. So let's review "No way Up".
Perfectly starts out with a beautifully Haunting score, along side some nice imagery that's well crafted in the action set-piece. Some stunning imagery of the Water takes place in this scene and its truly wonderful to look at. We then eventually see a person drowning and she's been caught by the Shark. This is where we are then taken to the present day.
We see our Characters going on board a plane. There's some nice scenes and the acting is fine. Hank was most noticeably a fun grandpa, that seemed to know how to have fun. The acting from the grandparents is exceptionally great. And Brandon being the carer of a rich man's daughter was nice to see.
However when they are on the plane, things become bumpy. Some of the wings have been hit, and this leads to another issue, can it be stopped and controlled. The reassurance was a realistic part of the film, likewise with the safety proceeder too, some realism there. Then the Planes wing starts to over heart. The young girl (Ava), shows off some great acting. And then we are seeing the wings fly out and some even hit the plane. Causing the plane to move and tilt. Whilst also breaking part of the plane, causing deaths, and suvillains lives are at greater risk.
Our Characters bearly make it out alive. Which is a miracle they even did. We then get some nice moments with our Characters, and it becomes an intense thrill-ride after a verouchous Shark seems to lurk beneath them. It was entertaining. And some sad, but also nice Character moments. With ultimately good acting.
For a low Budget film, it really doesn't deserve some of the HATE it gets. Overall, I enjoyed this film on the whole, and think it was a good fun time. That is coming from a fan of Shark Flicks though. But I like how they rationalised there situation and worked as a team. So the big question.
Would I recommend this film?
Shark Fans, Yes. Suspend your disbelief multiple times, if you find that funny then yes. Everybody else can stay clear.

I usually don't write reviews here, but this movie had oddly hateful reviews considering it is a solid, short movie. Perhaps not the next Jaws, but a well done movie that you should definitely give a chance still.
To me, the movie was entertaining and even had some suspenseful moments in there. The actors did a good job with the characters, the plot was predictable for its genre but nonetheless an enjoyable and visually pleasing movie. The sharks were more of a cameo than the main antagonist however, which was probably why most of the horror came from more usual fears - planes and oceans.
The characters had strong enough personalities and portrayals for me as the viewer to have a good sense of them. Sure, no great character development happened throughout the movie. As for the plot, like I said previously, it was predictable but had something to keep the viewer on their toes. No twists and turns, but the plot was still present.
I can see myself recommending this movie to others as long as they don't expect every movie to be a one in a million, Oscar-winning spectacle.

This definitely isn't gonna be the best film of the year, but it is decent and entertaining to watch. Most actors do a solid job, most notably the main actress, even though the boyfriend and the best friend characters could have benefited from better directing and a few more acting classes. There was some unnecessary backstorying involved with the side characters and you do have to suspend belief for a few of the scenes, but nothing you don't already do with most shark films. I enjoyed the dry humor and the witty dialogue, and was heavily engaged by the time the last part rolled around.
It really isn't one of those horrible-low budget-bad acting-disaster films most reviewers on here claim it is, definitely judge by yourself.
It really isn't one of those horrible-low budget-bad acting-disaster films most reviewers on here claim it is, definitely judge by yourself.
The movie immerses the viewer in a gripping survival story that sounds familiar but promises a new perspective on the struggle of humans against the elements. In this cinematic work, a group of friends, faced with a disaster, finds themselves deep under the sea after a plane crash, where they must fight for their lives in conditions far removed from civilization and comfort.
However, despite the promise of novelty, the film elicits mixed feelings. On the one hand, the idea seems fresh and promising; on the other, the characters' actions sometimes appear illogical and insubstantial, undermining belief in the realism of the events. The survivors make up the most unexpected company, including an elderly woman, a retired bodyguard, a young girl with indomitable spirit, and a couple of whiners, introducing a certain dissonance to the viewer's expectations of the plot.
Moreover, the script occasionally behaves capriciously, offering illogical twists, such as sharks swimming into the fuselage of the airplane, which goes beyond acceptable fantasy and undermines the sense of immersion in the plot.
The rescue operation, seemingly adding dynamics to the film, also awaits the viewer with shortcomings in logic and execution, making the outcome of the film predictable and depriving it of potential tension and drama.
Ultimately, the movie leaves behind the impression of a missed opportunity to tell a captivating survival story from a new angle. The film certainly has potential and offers the viewer moments of tension and interest, but the overall feeling of incompleteness and missed opportunities remains the main chord of this cinematic work.
Additionally, to the previously mentioned remarks about the film "no way up," it's worth noting another aspect that causes bewilderment and irritation: heart-wrenching dialogues at the most critical moments. Characters, finding themselves in extreme conditions, inexplicably begin to share personal memories and stories from childhood, which are utterly inappropriate in the given situation. These inserts, presumably intended to deeply reveal characters and add emotional coloring, in fact, look artificial and distract from the main action. Instead of uniting the viewer and the characters, these moments break the internal dynamics of the plot and emphasize the lack of logic in the behavior of the heroes, who should have focused all their efforts on survival, not on sharing personal stories.
These moments question the priorities of the scriptwriters and director, making the cinematic work less convincing and reducing its emotional resonance with the audience. Overall, despite the ambitiousness of the project and the strive for innovation in the survival genre, "no way up" leaves the viewer with a feeling of disappointment due to inconsistencies in the plot and the unconvincing nature of the characters.
2 out of 10.
However, despite the promise of novelty, the film elicits mixed feelings. On the one hand, the idea seems fresh and promising; on the other, the characters' actions sometimes appear illogical and insubstantial, undermining belief in the realism of the events. I'll just point some reasons here:
1. Acting is bad
2. Forget all logical reactions
3. Sharks entering between the seats of the plane and leaving in reverse (lol)
4. Sharks appear out of nowhere
5. Life jacket in a scene is full of water, then on another scene the life jacket is only filled with air.
Watch this movie with friends only to laugh about it and comment those moments. This is clearly a comedy!! So please keep that in mind.
It's strange how people rate this movie with grade above 3!! I am gonna say it again, watch this movie only as a comedy, else you gonna get frustrated how it defies the laws of logic and physics.

Come on! 10 stars for this!? LOL. Yes this is a low budget movie, but it's trying to be something that its not. It wants be a serious movie, but it doesn't work, now that could be the screenplay, the director or both. The "harsh" reviews are much more on point than making excuses or not to expect much. Just compare this to the top 250 on IMDB. It is a solid 2 out of 10.
The characters have no depth, most are unlikeable and the film doesn't carry off its self belief that it's a good film. A good script can still be achieved on a low budget. This script is bad. Therefore the film is bad, therefore it get's a bad review.
