After 20 years in the business, Cobra Kai actress Courtney Henggeler said she is quitting acting.

In a Substack post made late last month, Henggeler said she “hung up my gloves,” informing her agents that she “was tapping out. I no longer wanted to be a cog in the wheel of the machine.”

Deadline has reached out to Henggeler’s representatives for comment.

Known mostly for her six-season run as Amanda Larusso in Netflix’s recently concluded hit Cobra Kai, Henggeler has also landed bit parts in series like The Big Bang Theory, Mom, Fuller House, Jane the Virgin, Bones, Melissa & Joey, Happy Endings and others.

Roz isn’t the only Doyle reentering Frasier Crane’s orbit in Season 2 of the Paramount+ revival: Kelsey Grammer’s real-life daughter, Greer Grammer, has been cast as Roz’s all-grown-up daughter Alice, TVLine has confirmed.

Her casting comes on the heels of Peri Gilpin’s return as Roz in Frasier’s Season 1 finale. Gilpin will reprise her role as Dr. Crane’s former Kacl sidekick on a recurring basis in Season 2. Exclusive: Trending, the media company launched by Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before producer Matt Kaplan, has hired former Meta and MTV exec Mina Lefevre.

Lefevre joins the company as chief content officer of television.

Trending is a Gen-z focused company that includes Ace Entertainment, which was founded by Kaplan, Call Her Daddy and talent network The Unwell Network.

Lefevre will oversee its scripted and unscripted television content.

She left Facebook owner Meta earlier this year as part of a round of layoffs at the social networking company after it moved out of original programming.

Lefevre spent around six years at the company as head of development and programming, where she developed and produced original series for Facebook Watch as well as its other services including Oculus, Messenger, and Instagram. This included Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith...

Lefevre, who was formerly EVP and Head of Scripted at MTV, is exiting as part of the latest round of layoffs at the Mark Zuckerberg-run company, which has seen more than 20,000 employees leave.

Melissa Joan Hart recounted her experience attempting to help students fleeing a school shooter in Nashville, one of the most difficult things the actress says she’s ever seen.

For the latest episode of her What Women Binge podcast, Hart and co-host Amanda Lee shared details about their experiences Monday when police and emergency responders took over the area surrounding The Covenant School, a private Presbyterian parochial school, where a shooter killed three children and three adults.

Hart and Lee noted that they were respectively on their way to their children’s schools, which were close by, for conferences or already there when they began to encounter or see on the news the local authorities’ response to the active shooter situation. Danny DeVito will return to the Broadway stage this October in a new play by Theresa Rebeck called I Need That.

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor will star alongside his daughter Lucy DeVito and Ray Anthony Thomas in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of what the company describes as “a deeply human new comedy.”

Preview and opening night dates for I Need That at Roundabout’s American Airlines Theatre will be announced later.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to Too Late, a horror comedy that marks the debut feature from director D.W. Thomas and writer Tom Becker. Alyssa Limperis (Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of Fun), Ron Lynch, Will Weldon (This Isn’t Happening), Mary Lynn Rajskub, Fred Armisen, Jenny Zigrino, Jack De Sena (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Brooks Wheelan (SNL) star.

Boykewich is the latest senior executive to depart Freeform following the regime change at the network last May when Tara Duncan was named President. Exclusive: Tamera Mowry-Housley is expanding her relationship with Crown Media Family Networks, signing a new overall deal to star in and executive produce original films for the network. First up is holiday-themed Christmas Comes Twice, set for premiere Sunday, December 13 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt. Additionally, Mowry-Housley will join Home & Family as a contributor beginning in December.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Tamera Mowry-Housley to the Hallmark family,” said Michelle Vicary, EVP, Programming & Network Program Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “Having worked with Tamera on a few original movies previously it is a joy to have her star and executive produce more projects with us. Days after Greenleaf wrapped its five-season run on OWN, the network has given a formal straight-to-series order to drama Delilah from the same creative team, Greenleaf creator Craig Wright, Warner Bros. Television and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films. Maahra Hill is set for the title role in the series, executive produced by Charles Randolph-Wright (Greenleaf) and Winfrey. Also cast in the drama are Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends), Susan Heyward (Orange is the New Black) and Ozioma Akagha (Marvel’s Runaways).

Randolph-Wright and Cheryl Dunye are set to direct the series; Dunye will direct the pilot episode. Delilah, produced by Warner Bros. Television and Harpo Films, will air on OWN in 2021. Its order had been in the works at OWN since before the pandemic.

Created and executive produced by David H. Steinberg and Keetgi Kogan, the multi-camera comedy starred Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin as Liz and Ed, a hyper-competitive career mom and lovable but dorky “fun dad,” respectively, who unwittingly welcome 13-year-old Nick — short for Nicole (Siena Agudong) — into their family of four before realizing she is a street-smart con artist with a secret agenda.

Nick has infiltrated the family with the intention to get revenge on them for unknowingly ruining her life. But as Nick gets to know the family, she will find compassion for them and will struggle with whether or not she can ultimately go through with the plan.

Best known as Rhoda, Valerie Harper started as a dancer and never left the stage behind.

Valerie Harper, whose Rhoda Morgenstern character is an icon of television, died on Friday August 30, eight days after her 80th birthday.

"My dad has asked me to pass on this message," Harper’s daughter Cristina Cacciotti, confirmed on Twitter. “'My beautiful caring wife of nearly 40 years has passed away at 10:06 a.m., after years of fighting cancer. She will never, ever be forgotten. Rest In Peace, mia Valeria. -Anthony.'”

TV veteran Valerie Harper, who starred as Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show as well as her own self-titled spinoff, has died at the age of 80, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In March 2013, Harper revealed that she had been diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare and typically incurable form of cancer; at the time, she said doctors had given her as little as three months to live.

FX has ordered the limited series “A Teacher,” based on the Hannah Fidell film of the same name.

The series explores the story behind the mugshot of a female high school teacher, Claire (Mara), caught in an affair with her male student, Eric (Robinson), revealing the complexities and consequences of these illegal relationships. FX has ordered 10 episodes.

The Expanding Universe will center on Ashley Garcia (newcomer Paulina Chavez), the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist, who gets the chance to work for Nasa. Netflix has ordered a new Latinx comedy from Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland called “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia,” a spokesperson for the streaming service confirmed to TheWrap on Thursday.

The series, which received a 16-episode order and was co-created by Lopez and Kurland, stars newcomer Paulina Chavez as Ashley Garcia. Per the network, when Garcia — the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist — gets the chance to work for Nasa, she moves across the country to live with her Uncle Victor, a pro football player turned high school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can’t shirk.

Jencarlos Canela will play Victor — he previously starred in “Telenovela” on ABC and will appear in the upcoming series “Grand Hotel,” also on ABC.

Netflix has ordered 16 episodes of The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, a multi-camera Latinx comedy series co-created by Mario Lopez and Speechless and Melissa & Joey producer Seth Kurland.

The news Thursday comes after Netflix in March opted to cancel another Latin-centered family comedy, a remake of Norman Lear’s One Day at a Time, after three seasons.

The Expanding Universe will center on Ashley Garcia (newcomer Paulina Chavez), the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist, who gets the chance to work for Nasa. She moves across the country to live with her fun-loving Uncle Victor (Jencarlos Canela), a pro football player-turned-high school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can’t shirk.

Kurland is writing with Melissa & Joey creator David Kendall and will showrun the series. Kurland, Lopez and Kendall are executive producers. Mark Schulman at 3 Arts Entertainment will serve as a consultant.

Variety has learned that the streamer has given a 16 episode order to the multi-cam comedy “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia” co-created by Lopez and Kurland. Newcomer Paulina Chavez will star as Ashley, while Jencarlos Canela will play Victor. Canela previously starred on the ABC series “Telenovela” and will appear in the upcoming ABC series “Grand Hotel,” in addition to starring in numerous Spanish language productions.

Chavez is repped by Cesd Talent Agency and Industry Entertainment. Canela is repped by CAA and DePaz Management.

“Celebrity Big Brother” only has 13 episodes but it will take till the fourth show on Friday Jan. 25 before we get our first eviction. After that, the pace will pick up with four of the next eight episodes including at least one houseguest ousted. The season finale on Feb. 13 will include three evictions before it culminates with the crowning of the “CBB” winner.

The second celebrity edition of the “Big Brother” franchise begins airing on CBS on Monday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. The two-hour season finale is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 13. The Tiffany network will air a total of 18 hours of “Celebrity Big Brother” over 13 nights as detailed below.

The one-hour premiere on Monday hosted, as ever, by Julie Chen will be followed by hour-long episodes on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in the same time slot. The week of Jan. 28 will see installments on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday; all of these will air at 8 p.m. as well. While the hour-long episodes on Monday Feb. 4 and Thursday Feb. 7 will start at 9 p.m., the two-hour special on Friday, Feb. 8 will kick off at 8 p.m. The final Monday episode on Feb. 11 will begin at 9 p.m. but the tw0-hour finale that Wednesday begins at the earlier time of 8 p.m.

Netflix has ordered a multi-camera comedy starring Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin to series.

Titled “No Good Nick,” the series follows Liz (Hart) and Ed (Astin), a hyper-competitive career mom and lovable but dorky “fun dad,” respectively, who unwittingly welcome thirteen-year-old Nick (short for Nicole) into their family of four before realizing she is a street-smart con artist with a secret agenda. Siena Agudong stars as Nick.

Production has already begun on the series, which also stars Kalama Epstein and Lauren Lindsey Donzis.

“No Good Nick” is executive produced and created by David H. Steinberg and Keetgi Kogan, and directed by Andy Fickman. The original series is produced by Netflix.

“90210” alum Trevor Donovan will play a fighter pilot in the World War II action movie “Wolf Hound,” Variety has learned exclusively.

“Wolf Hound” is inspired by the real-life plot designed to fly Allied aircraft as Trojan horses behind enemy lines. The action takes place in 1944 as a fighter pilot escorts a B-17 bomber into Nazi territory and engages in a one-on-one aerial joust with a Nazi ace pilot, destroying both of their planes and forcing them to bail out and parachute to the forest floor.

Donovan will play German ace Major Erich Roth. Donovan’s real-life grandfather served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, along with his uncle Cedrick, who was in the Army and received two Purple Hearts. James Maslow will also star in “Wolf Hound” as a fighter pilot for the Allies.
