Henri ,the hero of the eponymous movie,is a cynical man,a swindler, a selfish racist dude who's only concerned by his own good.
He's got two jobs: he owns a music instruments store and plays in a "rock " band but when one of the musicians of the group ,Maurice,dies in a car crash ,his burial is the least of his worries ;he knows that the late pal has a lot of valuable instruments ,notably a Les Paul bass ;it's not hard to buy these precious items from the alcoholic mom for a song .But Maurice's son does not agree and he tells him so ...
Besides,he tries to get rid of his sane sister,by driving her crazy : these scenes are certainly the funniest in the whole comedy ;it looks like a spoof on those thrillers where the villain wants to latch on to a relative's money ;it culminates in the scene with the shrink "who already knows the trick" .
"Henri" is a pretty funny comedy ,full of black humor, sometimes overblown ,with over-the-top performances ,but it makes a welcome change from feel-good flicks ;besides the final song ,over the cast and credits,is in French!
No masterpiece ,by a long shot ,but good fun!
