As this six part series opens a family; mother, father and five year old Amaya, attend the festival of the Three Wise Men in Malaga in 2010. As her father buys her a balloon little Amaya walks off. She is not seen again. CCTV suggests that a person, or persons, took her. Miren, a trainee journalist working as an intern for a newspaper is keen to cover the story. In 2016 there has been no real progress in the case. Then, on Amaya's twelfth birthday somebody sends a VHS tape to Miren; it shows Amaya alive and well. This reinvigorates the investigation.

I thought this was a gripping series. The opening succeeds in grabbing the viewer's attention the story manages to keep things interesting right up until the end. This conclusion wraps up most retails but leaves just enough questions unanswered to raise the possibility of another season. The investigations carried out by the police and Miren are interesting to watch although it seemed a little odd that one of the most likely motives for kidnapping a young child wasn't even raised for most of the series... perhaps so viewers can feel smug for considering it before it was shown to be the motive. The mystery doesn't last the whole series; episode five shows us just what happened before the finale wraps things up. I quite liked this. The characters were interesting with the cast doing a solid job throughout. Overall a solid series that doesn't overstay its welcome; six episodes was just the right length.

I actually have no clue why people are giving this bad reviews. First of all, I don't understand how you can compare this to a telenovela. This is nothing like a telenovela. This is an extremely good Spanish version of an American or Nordic thriller series.

I was gripped from start to end, the only thing I would have wished for would be some clarification on certain things. There are a few loopholes.

Someone wrote that they mumble a lot. The Spanish always "mumble", or I'd rather say speak very fast and drop letters, especially those with an Andalucian accent. There is nothing different in this series compared to hearing Spanish people speak to each other in Spain.

Anyway, good series, will keep you excited from start to end.

This is layered. An engrossing story within an immersive story. Milena Smit is quite convincing as the young journalist with a tortured past that she has difficulty overcoming. Veteran actor Jose Coronado is quite likeable as Miren's teacher and confederate. And Aixa Villagran is quite commendable as the tireless, persistent investigator.

The approach of the film to storytelling is engaging even as it jumps from one year to another. The viewer might be wondering whatever happened to Amaya because her screen presence is limited for the most part to the videos Iris sends to Miren 3 years apart. But the patient viewer gets the complete picture in the penultimate episode.

This Spanish production is worth watching. It's bingeable.

At first I'd thought the story was implausible. After all, interns such as Miren don't get to work on stories of international importance. However, with input from veteran character actor Jose Corinado as experienced reporter Eduardo, things seemed much more stable. Miren threw herself into the story of the disappearance of the little girl and, while producing some good copy and a couple of scoops, she failed the rule of journalists not to get personally involved when she tried to solve the case.

There's one very minor clue in the first episode as to who the abductor might be, but it would take dogged investigating to find out the perp, something a viewer couldn't do. So the revelation in episode four of the back story of the kidnappers was something that couldn't have been guessed.

There were plenty of red herrings too, some involving Miren's shocking experiences prior to the series' start and which also explained how she knew Inspector Millán.

All was revealed, including the provenance of the title of the series which had puzzled me - no snow features at all. But, as British Rail once said in a different context, I was looking for the "wrong type of snow".

I watched the lot over a twenty four hour period and I recommend it.

I am usually immediately turned off from watching something that is dubbed in English and nothing the actor's say match up but I kept trying to overlook it because I was interested in finding out who did this and also who did that. Clearly nobody is going to be invited to all the award shows BUT that's fine. In my opinion, it was still good enough that I wanted to watch one episode every day until it ended but not too good to where I felt the need to binge watch it too quickly. I don't have a problem with that! I felt like I wanted to leave a review that explains my opinion in case there is someone like me who checks the IMDb rating for a show or movie before they start watching it and they immediately see a good bit of really low rating's. I would say that the series doesn't really deserve that many low rating's but a rating is based on each person's opinion or perspective. I would suggest giving it a try if anyone is on the fence since the ending looks as though they are probably going for a season two.

Snow Girl is about a child kidnapping case that spans a number of years. Caught up are the parents, the police, the kidnappers, and a journalist obsessed with the case.

What we have is a great, moody character-driven series. The actors do a great job showing how everyone around the case gets affected. That part of the slow burn is great.

Unfortunately, the plot and the mystery almost never progresses. And it's even more absurd that the time period spans 9 years. Everyone is so intense about the case, but what is happening these 9 years? The sad answer is nothing. We don't really witness any transformation within the characters over these 9 years. It's as if they're stuck in the depression all this time. The biggest transformation should be the kidnapped girl, but we don't even see how the transformation takes place, just that it did... 6 years later.

So it's well-acted... but missing a lot of plot devices that could've made Snow Girl a whole lot more exciting as a crime series.

I was pretty enthralled by this show, I watched it over 2 days. I found it to be a really good thriller, with good acting by all.

It gripped me from the very beginning, and kept me interested throughout. I found myself not looking at my phone and just engrossed, wanting to know what happened to the girl.

The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the main character's side story, as it didn't really go anywhere. I guess it speaks to why she is the way she is, but it wasn't really needed. Oh and the police were stupid - I mean did they do any investigating? Come on haha

All in all I do recommend, it's one of the better Spanish crime thrillers to come out in recent years. If there's a season two I might skip as I think it would get silly, and the main character was decent but not super likeable - not much personality there.

To be honest I almost didn't make it through the first episode. Decided to stick with it and ended up really liking it. I'm glad I didn't stop. The main character was my initial problem. She's a journalist for a newspaper and I don't think she smiled except maybe once or twice. She's got a horrific backstory so I forgave her. She gets involved in the story of a 5 year old girl who goes missing during a parade. The story is shown from her perspective along with the female detective that's working on the case. Also shown are the parents story as well as eventually the kidnapper. But the journalist is the real star here. She's tenacious in her fight to solve the mystery and sacrifices some of her own dignity along the way.

The story takes place in Spain with subtitles. There's nothing upbeat or with the slightest bit of humor, as it should be. But that means it's pretty gloomy throughout and seems very suited to the story. In the end, I thought it was very well done and they left it open for a new case.

What more can I say?, if not that this story is as beautifully told as a fine aging wine. From the very first episode, it grips you tight and continues to grow in beauty all the way to the end. It is about determination and not giving up, the tale of how the love of a parent combined with a professional's sens of duty can accomplish big things. I couldn't stop quite honestly, binged it with a few breaks here and there and did not even see the time go by. This is something that I would recommend to anybody who enjoys a good thriller mystery to watch over the weekend. Make yourself a good meal, get some snacks, and drinks, invite a few friends and simple watch this!

Watchable and good execution. From the start it maintains the grip and suspense. It could have been a treat to watch if the script was well written with some intense and egde of the seat moments.

The casting needs some brilliant selection of actors.it is not for every kind of audience. Compare to Nordic mystery thrillers it is half baked.these kind of stories need fully engaging without any dull or lag moments in script.but this one has some dull and lag moments. The director's narration should have been better. This web series could have been three to four episodes instead of six episodes.overall watchable one. Go for it.

Show Girl or Chica de Nieve met my expectations but couldn't achieve a higher vote.

Cause there were some long paced scenes where I felt really asleep. In my opinion instead of six they could have pack this thriller in four episodes. The actors delivered all very respectable performances. Congratulations.

The story was full of pain for the parents. The police was not presented at the best here but I don't spoil more details. The locations were well chosen and the atmosphere was sometimes creepy. It was all in all an entertaining mystery miniseries from Spain.

It's a wonderful crime thriller that kept me guessing. The scenery is gorgeous, the acting is amazing, and I loved the writing as well. The parade scene in episode one was incredible to see. A+ on that alone.

The show deals with a lot of hard to swallow realities without being too gruesome or explicit. The pacing at times might be a little slow for some, but I prefer the longevity of the storytelling. It's not rushed and has a more natural story development.

I did feel there was a little left unresolved, perhaps that was done on purpose for future series?

Overall, I think it was a great show.

I feel compelled to write this review after reading here quite a few negative ones. What one can clearly see right away is that apparently none of the dismissive reviewers has ever been to Spain, and certainly not to Malaga. Newsflash: It rains in Spain too, and it gets sometimes cold and gloomy in Winter as well. The creators of this series are not trrying to imitate Scandinavian crime series. After all ,bad stuff happens in Spain too. And no, people there don't "mumble" Spanish, they speak it the way the are used to. After all, this is the country where the Spanish language comes from. And talking about "telenovelas"? Seriously?

Anyway, great actors, also, as usual with European productions they don't pull any punches and the story is absolutely believable. Worse things you can read about in the news. 6 episodes is quite right, no need to stretch it to 12 or so, and the last minute leaves the door open to a second season. And why not? All in all, a good showing of a different side of life in Spain with all its quirks and pecularities.

I now live in Mijas, Spain where the locals have made a lot of noise about this new Netflix series. There was a special showing in the town the other week with many of the actors and behind-the-cameras team present, all down I believe to the writer of the book from which it was adapted actually hailing from Mijas. Also, some of the locations were clearly filmed in neighbouring Malaga which gave me two external reasons for watching the show.

So, putting to one side my biased neighbourhood interest, how did this production shape up in the thriller stakes? Well, I have to state that the basic story itself of a little girl's being kidnapped in the rain at the big Three Kings Christmas-time festival by a couple who are unable to conceive their own child hardly seemed original.

We're then presented with two mixed-sex couples seeking the young Amaya, one pair comprising a tough stoney-faced female detective and her younger, more excitable male colleague and the other a damaged young female reporter and her older male mentor on the paper. Indeed, the series clearly focuses on the young girl reporter named Miren who takes a personal interest in the case possibly linked back to her own awful experience of years before when she was gang-raped on a beach and then became aware that a video of her horrific ordeal had found its way onto the dark web. She's the main one who refuses to give up on the kidnapped young girl long after the story has left the front page and it's her endeavour and intuition which finally breaks the case and leads the police to at last solving the years-old mystery.

I don't know personally if the Madeleine McCann case which was and still is headline news in the U. K. is as well-known in Spain but this story seemed to be inspired by it, if that's the right word, judging by events depicted here. I quite enjoyed the unusual structure of using the first four episodes to build up the mystery of Amaya's disappearance from the point of view of her concerned pursuers and then devoting the whole of the fifth episode to switch perspective to that of the kidnappers and filling in all the gaps in the process. This effectively set up the dramatic conclusion involving a tense car chase in the pouring rain with I guess the inevitable conclusion immediately following on.

I enjoyed much of this series up until it unexpectedly went Hollywood with a couple of unbelievable and unexpectedly violent plot twists which for me destroyed the credibility of the story for the sake of rather cheap, exploitative thrills. I'm well aware too that coincidence and luck has to play a part in cracking open a case like this but here the plot holes and narrative jumps were just too many and too large to ignore. I was also occasionally confused by the constant shifts in the timelines and lastly did we really need the closing teaser leading into presumably Miren's next case, it seemed a cheap and unnecessary device after the seriousness of what had gone before.

Acting-wise, the series commendably builds itself around three strong lead performances by women, Milena Smit as Miren has a very guant appearance and plays her part with suitable if sometimes overdone intensity, Cecilia Freire is good in the thankless task of the disturbed kidnapper who bends her doting husband to her will and Aixa Villagrán does well in the slightly under-developed role as the lead police detective on the case.

I was guilty of watching this show in the dubbed English language version which may have somewhat coloured my opinion of the quality of some of the acting but as programmes like this go, this was still an entertaining and reasonably convincing missing-person mystery.

Another great Spanish drama series and in good length, 6 episodes are very good format.

A powerful and nevertheless bittersweet series. Well written with the focus on inner human tragedies, well filmed, well acted. When I watch dramas like The Snow Girl I am always moved by scale of human soul strengths and weaknesses and depth and I must think of the terrible side of the soul more and more. Sometimes I become scared of the world we live in, the world where an innocent visit to doctor or one your work episode can turn upside down all your life.

I was really moved by drama of Amaya/Julie and the twists and turnes what broke her life twice within 10 years.

I've only recently come across Spanish TV production and I'm surprised how good they are. Well written and produced, dubbing can sometimes make the acting a lil' out of tune, but it's easily overlooked. All the acting is very good otherwise and it's good that they use the same dubbed voices for actors that one sees in other productions. This particular TV production has normal 40min lengths and is only 6 episodes, so is easily binge watched because it is had to stop once started. So ensure you have a free afternoon or evening and you won't be disappointed, it will be well worth your time. It will be just a matter of time before an English/American production takes up one of the Spanish stories and runs with it.

It is a great tv series to watch and it is very entertaining with transformative, provocative performances by young and up&coming actors and highly talented, experienced veteran actors. The Spanish TV production is worth the investment of time and energy to watch as the creative and addictive storytelling unfolds in the screenplay. The director narrates his/her scenes like a well done storyboard through picture by picture. The lead female protagonist is very attractive both in her performances and the way moves from scene to scene. I would highly recommend anyone this television series to watch. This Spanish television series production has a 100% rating on other streaming website reviewers.
