The story, like Don Hertzfeldt's other shorts, has an amazingly simple story--and, of course, it's chock full of blood and violence. It begins with a guy complaining about his wisdom teeth making his face puffy. He then asks his friend to help him pull out his stitches--and BAD things happen!! It takes a while, but VERY bad things happen. Trust me on this.

If you've seen "Rejected" or some of Hertzfeldt's other mondo-bizarro films, then "Wisdom Teeth" will come as no surprise. It's sick, twisted, strange and darkly funny. His fans with love it...others will probably just be shocked! After all, his animations look as if they were done by a 7th grader and yet have a VERY sick sensibility that will hit unsuspecting viewers like a 2x4 upside your head.

I really liked this short but after seeing "Rejected" (probably the ultimate sick Hertzfeldt film), it's hard to top and "Wisdom Teeth" doesn't quite do it. Still, it has what I wanted to see and I hope to see more.

A man who has a wisdom tooth needs it pulled. His friend agrees to do it and what ensues is five minutes of pure pain--and it is hilarious. In the simplistic animated methods, we endure an endless string from the man's mouth. As if that were not enough, he is in for even worse at the conclusion. Hilarious.

As a big Don Hertzfeldt fan, this was a treat to watch. It was interesting seeing his work from "it's such a beautiful day" influence his older character designs with big eyes. Wisdom Teeth is an odd and might require a bit of patience, nevertheless it's definitely a neatly put together short! Plays on darker humor, a little gross maybe but nothing your mom can't handle (literally!). Makes a great 6 minutes overall.
