Avis à la une
I totally agree with the review who rated this film 1 out of 10.
It's impossible to get interested in these unidimensional, unsympathetic, shallow characters and their empty lives.
The main character, a a sour-faced, bored-looking teenager named Margaux, sulks and pouts from one end of this film to the other, showing no interest in anything and making no effort to rise out of her mediocrity and vacuity. I just wanted to slap her silly for the entire duration of this pathetic film.
As for the little orphan girl, instead of feeling sorry for her I wanted to slap her silly and pack her off to a very harsh reform school. All she does is utter a never-ending stream of French obscenities and vulgarities, and she's only 6. She talks like a streetwalker and it'spretty obvious that that's what life has in store for her, becoming a low-class streetwalker I mean.
There is really no plot, nothing happens, and boy, does nothing happen sloooooowly in this film, so what is there to spoil ? Absolutely nothing. Watching your washing machine turn round and round is more exciting than this film. Run, don't walk, away from this film as fast as you possibly can !

At first glance a perfect tender summer film unfortunately falls flat in its second half. "L'Amour du Monde" doesn't trouble itself with too much explanation at the beginning and instead lets us discover the protagonists' back-stories on our own throughout the duration of the film. Another thing that I would compliment is its beutiful cinematography that perfectly captures sunlight glittering on the water surface, soft tree shades in nearby forests and overall summer atmosphere. On the other hand I wish the story let us more into the characters minds and feelings, beacuse in my opinion all of them were kind of one-sided, superficial and blurry. The main theme that connected the three protagonists - loss of their mothers - was pleasing, but it got a bit lost in the narrative (untill the very end, when we were reminded of it again). Overall I don't think it was a bad film, just not exceptional enough.
> updated review
pros: the cinematography was decent, the scenes were beautifully shot but bland.
Cons: the characters were very bland, throughout the film we recieve basically 0 intake on her thoughts, feelings, etc. And there's really no development
despite the good scenery and landscape, the scenes were abrupt and meaningless. I had a feeling they were attempting to go for that "indie film" vibe but just utterly missed the mark
as for the plot.. well there really is none. She meets 2 individuals that she barely talks to and kind of just sulks the entire film, theres no moral or lesson i could gather from the movie, no character development to inspire me, or even make me feel anything, positive or negative. I was simply bored.
We learnt her name (which i dont remember) like 15 minutes before the film ended because it was so uninteresting and nobody was paying attention
(i wrote the original review right after stumbling out of the dark theater and was a bit overly harsh with it, so i updated it lol)
