AKA - A Good Family Finnish with subtitles.

It was refreshing to find a storyline that had something new. The scenario whereby, unbeknown to one another, a female cop and her husband independently try to bend justice for the sake of family.

It was tight and suspenseful throughout, but there were a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies.

A lot of the outdoor scenes were very atmospheric, particularly filming in real rain.

Do cops not pair up in Finland, because Anna was going it alone most of the time and the female cop entering a derelict building on her own has become rather clichéd.

Overall it is definitely worth watching.

Gotta say that the series really tries a lot. Good actors, splendid acting, action and a lot of twist and turns. But......it really falls short in my opinion trying too much. All the twist and turns makes it feel like some daytime soap opera. You actually only miss someone's evil twin brother to appear after waking up from a 10 year coma. There are ALOT of strange "misses" that a good director should have spotted. For instance starting a short drive in early evening but reach destination in the morning, having bloody face, but suddenly face being clean etc.

Also characters are so damn unrealistic, don't get the feel at all that they react as "they should". Also, you really don't like either of the main characters.

This was soooo disappointing. My wife now and then laughed when she thought it was so stupid. 3 stars was maybe a little too much, but the acting was at times superb.

As Nordic/Scandi noir goes, this is one of the worst I've ever seen. For starters, the police were so inept as to be beyond belief. In fact, the police were so corrupt that their supervisors paid zero attention to their failing.

I know it's one thing to hide evidence and cover up your child's criminal activities, but for other officers not to notice that is just beyond ridiculous.

The writing, as a whole, was just terrible and the series really warranted just one star. What saved A Good Family was the acting and cinematography; those weren't that bad.

One bad scene, for instance, was when the father confronted his police officer wife who had slept with the head criminal, but he simply ignored it. A Good Family is filled with characters who routinely lie to each other but nothing gets done about it. If there was A Good Family II, I'd have to pass on it.

Excellent acting, and good writing. The storyline may seem somewhat familiar, but with this particular family's entanglements it takes on a slightly different dynamic...what lengths would you go to in order to save your loved one's life?

...It has many twists and turns and keeps you on edge throughout, though sometimes events do seem to occur a bit conveniently, all, of course, for our protagonists' benefit. But hey, it's TV!

The final episode is extremely intense and will most definitely have you on the edge of your seat. But... there is a brief moment toward the very end which could make one think, perhaps things are not quite as over as everyone would like. Hmmm....
