A Texas-crude style romcom, only desperate fans of the genre should seek it out

Amy (Leena Huff) and Joe (Daniel Bonjour) are new high school graduates in a small Texas town. Very much in love, the couple also have plans to go out of state to college and then onto a big metropolis, like Los Angeles. But, Joe is hesitant. His parents are divorcing, making his dad lonely, and he, the son, already has a great job at a furniture store. On the day the two are to leave, a misunderstanding planted by a young girl, Daisy, with a crush on Joe, breaks up the lovers. Joe stays, Amy goes. Flash forward seven years. Joe is still in his Texas town and the just-appointed manager of the furniture store. He also makes his own unique pieces on the side. More importantly, he is about to walk down the aisle with Daisy, all grown up, and the furniture store owner's daughter. But, oh, the day before the big event, Amy comes back to town. It seems she now runs a furniture design place in LA and she "borrowed" one of Joe's old patterns for a new piece. Therefore, she has returned to make certain this adaptation is okay with Joe. Panic ensues for our Joe. He whisks Amy away when she comes calling, to inform her that he, Joe, is the best man at the wedding of Daisy to assistant store manager, Beau (Jesse Johnson, Don's son). A comedy of errors is born, with Joe doing his best to cover his tracks until he can find out if Amy still cares for him. Joe is certain he STILL loves his former flame. How will it all shake down? This is an okay romcom, marred by crude and politically incorrect situations, at times. Obviously, it is a low budget type affair, with no big stars and no mighty aspirations. That said, it really does have some humor and the Texas setting is quite nice. But, as stated, it contains enough offensive material to damage the final product. Fans of romantic comedy who are desperately seeking something new will find it acceptable. All others will need back-up films to insert in the proverbial machine when this one gets yanked out.

    Fodder for the misogynists

It's sad to see a woman writer and director wasting their time on such drivel. The film is totally unbelievable (and unfunny) right from the beginning and goes downhill from there. I couldn't take more than ten minutes. It wasn't the acting or the direction, which was fine; it was the script. I especially like the casting of a child as a manipulative "bitch." Congratulations. Not only do we get to see girls sexualized at a ridiculously young age, but now we get to see them depicted as selfish bitch-women as well. A couple of misogynists couldn't have made a film with worse depictions of women. Take some some gender studies classes before you make your next film!

    Muddled Comedy

Half-hearted acting, predictable story, not much of a point to it. A man is about to marry a woman who loves him, and the marriage will benefit him, but then his old girlfriend shows up and he realizes that is making a mistake. Seriously, how many times have we seen this?

If I had to pinpoint the main problem here, I would say that the movie was not funny enough. It was clearly meant to be a comedy - Hal Ozsan and Chip Joslin got a few laughs out of me - but overall the movie was low on humor, and was too awkward to be a feel-good film. It certainly was not well-made enough to be taken seriously.

For example, we are told that seven years went by after a scene in which Daisy looked about ten years old. But now she clearly looks like she's in her twenties, which kept me from understanding at first that this was supposed to be the same person (Jen Lilley is actually about 14 years older than Kaylee Dodson, rather than 7 years older). Another problem was Joe's dishonesty, which seemed understandable at first, but after a certain point he started to look like a real snake, and I felt like he never even admitted to himself that he was hurting people.

Like I said, I found a few moments of this movie amusing, and I think it might have worked if it had included some more slapstick humor and mistaken identity. As it is, this movie did not work.

    This was Not Good

This film is bad. I thought it would be funny because I thought it would be a film about a "Christmas Wedding" in Texas. What we get is an unfunny film with actors trying to sound like their from the South. Now I am a liberal as you can get but a film like this is insulting to Southern people.

In this film On the eve of Joe's (Daniel Bonjour) wedding, he runs into Amy (Leena Huff), the love of his life and the one who got away. He has one night to find out if there is a chance of getting Amy back before he settles by marrying Daisy (Jen Lilley).

This film had a good idea but it was poorly executed. Avoid this film.

    Sadly disappointed...

I had high hopes for this movie based on the outline, but was quite disappointed. The cast consists of great looking actors, but for most of the movie, things seemed awkward and lacked smooth transition from scene to scene. A little too predictable.

Much of the first part of the movie focuses on poking fun at Christians.

While I'm not a fan of radical religion of any sort, this movie goes to far to be considered funny. The movie would have been much funnier without the extreme anti-Christian comments! The last part of the story line was pretty good. The ending was okay.
