Who's Your Baghdaddy, or How I Started the Iraq War

I'm writing this review in 2025 after surfing my way through IMDB and coming across the entry for this show. I can't help feeling a little nostalgic as it makes me think back to 2020 when the whole world was in the midst of a terrible pandemic. Meanwhile in Sydney, Australia a little magic was about to unfold.

Here's the premise: Take a talented ensemble cast, put each one in a separate room of a share house in suburban Sydney. Mike them up and give them a laptop monitor so they can take their cues from the other actors performing live ( all the while remaining in isolation in the other rooms ). Add a clever script and some catchy original tunes, sprinkle with a some technical wizardry, and watch from your home as you imagine the director calling "action", the cameras ( one for each room) roll and the show is live-streamed to the online paying audience who watch the performance literally from the comfort of their own living room! (if your watching on a big-screen tv with your sound system cranked up, it feels like the actors are performing right there in your living room) BRILLIANT !!!

But don't just do it once, put this little show on nightly over a a week or so and you have a live musical that both entertains and gives an interesting take on how the Iraq war started (is it purely fictional or maybe a little closer to the truth than we'd like to believe?) This little show provided just the tonic for fans of musical theatre who had probably given up hope of seeing any live performance during the depressing months of covid lockdown in 2020.

Kudos to everyone involved in this bold, technically inventive and greatly entertaining production.
