Avis à la une
A great indie horror movie with good acting and surprising story twists. Wonderful photography and sets. I thought the story developed rather nicely and got me hooked the whole time. It's admirable that they got a movie out about the pandemic so fast. Interesting to see a reflection on current events. I also liked how the suspense slowly developed. This kind of movie needs more exposure. Instead of the boring Hollywood formulaic plots this movie offers a fresh perspective on life in general and in particular during a pandemic. Since we all have to suffer through this, it offers some relieve to see that the protagonists got it even worse than us.
Really timely story that just pulls you in. Lots of great mystery. The cinematography gives it a gritty, realistic feel. The music adds to the intensity as well.
In the indie movie Extramundane, a new building manager during the height of the pandemic takes it upon himself to solve the mystery of why so many people in his building have gone missing. He discovers a dark history of the building and enters a nightmare from which he must fight to escape. I've seen a few ""contained", isolation films that were made during the pandemic and they were not great however this indie film surprised me. The camera work is good, the acting is believable and the writing is not bad. It kept me guessing and the twist at the end is great. Check out the indie thriller Extramundane.
Extramundane, knows how to approach suspense in an interesting and innovative way, this film caught me from the first second in which it presents us with the entrails of the building, which will play an essential role in this story.
The shots are very well defined and flow in tune with an excellent work of music and sound design.
I think that the fact that Joshua Sowden is the writer, director and editor of this feature film is a clear example of the visionary commitment to land an idea as close to how it was conceived, in my humble opinion that is how films have to be done.
I also want to emphasize the great job that was done with that talented cast. The performances are refreshing and the actors are very well connected with their characters, something that I loved is how the characters take long pauses without saying anything but body language or just a small gesture tells us what is impossible to say with words.
If you want to enjoy a good suspense movie that takes advantage of the pandemic to tell us a very original story, Extramundane is the right movie. Completely recommended!

A really nice indie thriller set during the pandemic that slowly builds the suspense and doesn't let up. Very atmospheric. The slow burn suspense is definitely enhanced by the cinematography and music. Both are extremely well done. And the interesting way video chats and on screen texts are displayed, truly elevates this from the usual low budget fare.
Admittedly, I'm a sucker for "contained" and isolation films and so may of them fall short and are just plain boring. But this one works really well on all levels. The story, the music, camerawork and direction... recommend this one. It won't disappoint!
