Green and Gold

I really liked this movie. It is surprisingly funny, heartwarming and authentic. I thought the acting was good. The story was interesting. Yes you can tell a little bit it is a lower budget independent film, but I don't think that brought down its quality. The cinematography was great showing the lush landscape of Door County, WI, where it was filmed. If I didn't know this was the directors first film, I would have thought he had tons of experience. The story is interesting as they shine light on the plight of the small town farmers and what narrow margins they are living in and how the hardship can push some to self deletions since they can't think of a way out of their struggle. The cost of farming is expensive, but you can tell these farmers love it and all the effort is worth it because it is more than just farming. It's communing with nature, passing on a legacy personally to family and to the wider community and even the world as what they produce is a literal basic necessity for all humans (sustenance). The relationship between the grandfather and granddaughter was great as they butt heads figuring out their future. Dreams sometimes come true and sometimes don't, but you can find meaning and purpose along the way no matter the outcome. A story of how people can help each other if they let each in.

I went into Green and Gold with cautious optimism. After reading a few reviews, I was bracing myself for another one of those sports movies - you know, the kind that takes an unexpected hard right turn into a church parking lot about 30 minutes in.

Now, let's be clear: I'm not anti-religion. But I am against false advertising. If I'm settling in for a story about grit, football, and family, I don't want to be blindsided by a sermon in the third act. I've been burned before.

This isn't one of those movies.

Green and Gold is a genuinely heartwarming look at one family's fight to stay afloat in a world that's shifting under their feet. It's about tough choices, quiet resilience, and the things that keep us rooted - love, loyalty, and legacy.

There's humor, there's heartache, and yeah, there's soul. It hits the notes without feeling preachy or manipulative. If you're into music, football, farming, or just good storytelling that respects its audience, this one's worth your time.

It's a film about doing what's right - and for once, the filmmakers do exactly that.

This was an incredible movie from start to finish. It was obvious that the filmmakers and actors were on the same page about making it a touching, home grown, funny, and moving film. The themes throughout the film were what we all need right now, reminding us where we came from and informs where we are going. It felt like an instant classic and shines a light on a part of this country that is easy to gloss over. The movie ties faith, football, and farming all into one beautiful story. The acting was also incredible, from the big names of Craig T Nelson, to new up and coming actors like Madison Lawlor, each scene was shot and acted really well. One of the best movies I've ever seen!

This movie is so special. I saw it today for the third time in a packed theater in Wisconsin. It warmed my heart to watch it again not only with my family, but also alongside strangers who were experiencing it for the first time. There was a well-deserved round of applause in the theater at the end. The Packers storyline is just one enjoyable part of an overall heartwarming, hopeful, and incredible film. The acting, the music, and the cinematography pull together beautifully. Every time I've seen it, I've laughed and cried and left wanting to tell more people to see it before it leaves theaters. Best movie I have seen in a very long time.

My husband is a Hugee Packers fan, so of course we had to go see it. We traveled from another state just to watch it. Was actually an amazing movie(coming from a Dallas Cowboys fan 😉). I had my doubts watching something with the Packers as a main point but really it was part of the movie and belonged in there with the story! Had such a good message about community and people coming together for one another, which the world today definitely needs more of! It will definitely make you teary eyed! And the director showed up to our theater and thanked everyone for coming out, supporting it and talked a little bit about the show! Can't say it enough, incredible film!
