The Moleman of Belmont Avenue

Two years ago, the Mugg Brothers, who have never worked a day in their lives, inherited a brownstone apartment building. In that short time, their slacker ways have run the building into the ground. Tenants are moving out, no one drinks at the bar downstairs, and the building's pets are going missing.

The big draw for this film is, of course, Robert Englund. While he is not a main character, his role is sizable and in my opinion more enjoyable than most of the lower budget horror films he has been in over the last decade. Any Englund fans should be sure to check him out in this one.

For me, personally, the Chicago filming caught my attention. While I live three hours away, this film got plenty of buzz at the conventions and horror events, with John LaFlamboy promoting it at Flashback Weekend (among other places). I had wanted to see it for some time... and now (October 2013) I have.

Definitely a lot of fun, much more comedy than horror. It has "low budget" and "independent" written all over it, but not in a bad way. I would strongly urge people to give this one a try.

A delightful silly about two slacker bros who inherit an apartment building in Chicago; think It Never Rains in Philadelphia type of environment, glory holes and all. When the tenants' pets show up dead it becomes painfully obvious that there's a moleman in that thar basement. They finally take hilarious action.

Here's a real gem of a movie. Comedy horror done by the experts, with actual jokes being told and skits being performed. A great and catchy theme song, a well done monster costume and some shining acting tops off what makes it so special.

The premise of two slackers running a slum apartment allow a cast of colorful characters to inhabit the building and share screen time as the titular moleman snatches up their pets. The goofy premise allowed plenty of room for the main characters to find themselves in awkward but hilarious situations trying to appease their tenants, save the animals, and stop the threat.

This movie is what happens when comedians are allowed to be funny in a film without to much money and staff getting in the way. It's what ever awful hot comedy on Tubi wants to be.. but can't.

I've watched this movie 5 times now and it just makes me happy. It checks all the low budget marks on the list. It has the production quality of later seasons of Trailer Park Boys and Flight of the Concords. It has good dialogue mixing which really helps. The lighting is flat, but it just works for this movie. What shines brightest is the story, script, and improv. The two guys that made this movie just has it figured out. I'm not going to say this is for everyone, but for fans of low budget comedies with a splash of horror, I'd say give it a shot.

There's a ton of awful crap on Tubi but this movie should be higher on the list.

There's no sense trying to make sense of The Moleman of Belmont Avenue. It is a masterpiece of the genre it is in. Just don't know really what the genre is. I found myself laughing out loud at things no one should laugh at. The brothers are believable brothers (had to check if they really were brothers) and funny as brothers are. The bizarre tenets were bizarre. If your tired of the BS hero movies full of multimillion dollar stars, gore, and computer junk, and we should be, then relax with this low budget gem of movie fun.
