We haven't had a good political thriller on Netflix in a long time, but that's all about to change when Hostage hits Netflix this week. It should kickstart another good season of political shows on Netflix with The Diplomat season 3 on the way in October 2025, as well.

The live-action remake of Tangled could potentially have starred a Bridgerton heartthrob as Flynn Rider. The 2010 movie Tangled is Disney's Oscar-nominated animated retelling of Rapunzel, following the long-haired title character (Mandy Moore) as she goes on an adventure with the dashing rogue Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), who is known for his trademark smolder.

Disney was once in the process of mounting a live-action remake of Tangled. The version of the project that was announced in December 2024 would have been directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (2025's I Know What You Did Last Summer).

However, when the live-action remake of Snow White bombed at the box office in early 2025 (grossing $205.7 million against a reported budget of roughly $270 million), the Tangled remake was scrapped before any casting announcements could be made.

Andoh was full of praise for Rhimes and Bridgerton, as she revealed why she had been attracted to playing Lady Agatha Danbury in the ground-breaking period drama.

Netflix is no stranger to producing great thrillers, and it seems like the streamer might have another big hit on its hands later this summer when Hostage makes its premiere in August. It’s nearly blasphemous to say it out loud, but not everyone feels that Queen Charlotte is the shining crown jewel of the Bridgerton universe. For many, the series was everything they hoped for, emotionally gripping, beautiful performances, and visually breathtaking. The praise has been thunderous and, to some extent, deserved.

Yet, beneath all that glitz lies a series that, while impressive, stumbles in ways that make it hard to wholeheartedly crown it as the best installment. The truth is, Queen Charlotte could have been iconic. Instead, it sometimes feels like a royal melodrama that lost sight of what made Bridgerton so compelling in the first place: its lore, its pacing, and its perfect balance between scandal and heart.

After the news that Bridgerton Season 4 will officially be coming next year, we're learning a little more about the upcoming season. The season will be based on Julia Quinn's third Bridgerton book, An Offer from a Gentleman, and feature Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) as the leading man. Now, composer Kris Bowers is dishing on the music for the upcoming season as well as the connection to its prequel series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

Bowers tells Shondaland that “I created a slightly different sound, which was a lot of fun in terms of fresh instrumentation and approach to the music for the Bridgerton world." He says, "There’s a slight connection to Queen Charlotte for me [personally] because of the fact that you’re seeing people who are maybe not as commonly seen in high society.” We also already know that the sound of Taylor Swift is returning once again to the series.

Reservation Dogs co-creator Sterlin Harjo’s new series The Lowdown, starring Ethan Hawke, will premiere Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 9/8c on FX with its first two episodes. A new installment will then air each following Tuesday at 9 pm on FX (and stream next day on Hulu).

The eight-episode season “follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa ‘truthstorian’ whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble,” reads the official synopsis.

Netflix has unveiled a premiere date and a series of first-look photos for My Oxford Year, its new romance starring Sofia Carson (The Life List) and Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), which adapts the novel by Julia Whelan.

Hailing from The Inbetweeners director Iain Morris, the film’s logline is as follows: When Anna, an ambitious young American woman, sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, she has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.

Adapted for the screen by Allison Burnett and Melissa Osborne, from a story by Burnett, pic’s cast also includes Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, Harry Trevaldwyn, Esmé Kingdom, Nikhil Parmar, and Poppy Gilbert. Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Laura Quicksilver, and Isaac Klausner are the film’s producers.

Directed by Tilley from a screenplay by author and artist Elisa Victoria, the film also stars S. The streamer announced on Wednesday that the “Purple Hearts,” “Feel the Beat,” “The Life List” and “Carry-On” actress will emcee the movie and TV festival live from the Kia Forum.

Phil Dunster, best known to audiences as the AFC Richmond football player Jamie Tartt on Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso,has been cast in a leading role in a new movie based on a popular graphic novel franchise. Per Deadline, Dunster, along with Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story)and Emilia Schüle (Marie Antoinette), have been cast in the new spy thriller, Blake & Mortimer: The Yellow M.

The film comes from French director Cédric Nicolas-Troyan, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects for Snow White and the Huntsman.It will be a live-action adaptation of the best-selling Blake and Mortimer graphic novel series by author Edgar P. Jacobs. The book franchise has sold around 20 million copies around the world and has been translated into 15 languages.

Ted Lasso star Phil Dunster, Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) and Emilia Schüle (Marie Antoinette) have signed for action-spy thriller Blake & Mortimer: The Yellow M.

Directed by French director Cédric Nicolas-Troyan, the feature is an English-language, live action adaptation of best-selling graphic novel franchise Blake and Mortimer by Edgar P. Jacobs.

The franchise, which has sold 20 million copies worldwide and been translated into 15 languages, revolves around the adventures of MI5 Captain Francis Blake and his scientist friend Philip Mortimer. Mylchreest will play Blake opposite Dunster as Mortimer.

Mister Smith Entertainment will launch international sales in Cannes on the French-Belgian-uk co-production, currently slated for a September 2025 start of principal photography, shooting mostly in the UK and Belgium. CAA is representing the US rights. Belga will distribute the film in Benelux.

Because if it does, then the show will inevitably end up proving that it cares more about corsets than characters.

Shadowbox is the owner of the Shinfield Studios facility in the UK and Shadowbox Atlanta. Mosallam becomes its inaugural COO. He has formed a new executive leadership team to oversee Shadowbox’s current and upcoming sites as well as international expansion and its suite of production services.
