Bridgerton Star Corey Mylchreest Auditioned for Flynn Rider in Cancelled Tangled Remake
Image
The live-action remake of Tangled could potentially have starred a Bridgerton heartthrob as Flynn Rider. The 2010 movie Tangled is Disney's Oscar-nominated animated retelling of Rapunzel, following the long-haired title character (Mandy Moore) as she goes on an adventure with the dashing rogue Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), who is known for his trademark smolder.

Disney was once in the process of mounting a live-action remake of Tangled. The version of the project that was announced in December 2024 would have been directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (2025's I Know What You Did Last Summer).

However, when the live-action remake of Snow White bombed at the box office in early 2025 (grossing $205.7 million against a reported budget of roughly $270 million), the Tangled remake was scrapped before any casting announcements could be made.

While speaking with Seventeen, Corey Mylchreest, who is best known for playing Young King...

Netflix's My Oxford Year Had To Shoot That Karaoke Scene Multiple Times For A Good Reason
Image
This post contains major spoilers for "My Oxford Year."

Netflix might be responsible for one of the best limited series of the year in "Adolescence," but that doesn't mean the streamer has forgotten how to churn out the easily binge-able melodramas that helped it win the streaming wars. "My Oxford Year" is the latest Netflix romance film and it's, well, nonsense really. But it's sort of fun nonsense in that it makes no attempt whatsoever to apologize for its young adult modern-day fairy tale naiveté.

The film stars Sofia Carson, who played Nora Parisi in Netflix's "Carry-On" and has been making a name for herself as an aspiring queen of Netflix romantic dramas, beginning with 2022's "Purple Hearts" and continuing on to the romantic comedy "The Life List" (which dominated Netflix's top charts in 2025). Now, she's returned for more romance with "My Oxford Year," a BookTok fantasy come to life...

Bridgerton Universe Star Campaigning To Play Iconic Harry Potter Character Portrayed Masterfully By Oscar Winner
Image
Corey Mylchreest, who stars in Netflix's Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, is actively campaigning to play an iconic Harry Potter character in HBO's planned TV series. Mylchreest plays young King George III in Shonda Rhimes' historical romance series, which serves as a prequel to Bridgerton that explores the early years of Queen Charlotte and King George III's marriage.

In an interview with Empire, Mylchreest revealed which iconic Harry Potter character he wants to play, especially with HBO actively casting for the highly anticipated small-screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's book series. The actor shared that as a "Harry Potter head," it'd be "such a dream" to play Sirius Black, though he's "not quite sure" if he can step into Oscar winner Gary Oldman's shoes "any time soon." Read his comments below:

In the Harry Potter books, all of the adults are so much younger than they are in the film.

Netflix’s My Oxford Year: A Study in Ambition and Elegy
Image
With its premiere on the Netflix streaming service, My Oxford Year arrives as a romantic drama navigating the well-trodden terrain of love and loss against the storied backdrop of British academia. Produced by Temple Hill Entertainment, a company with a notable portfolio in emotionally resonant narratives, the film charts the collision of two lives: Anna De La Vega (Sofia Carson), an American student of immense ambition, and Jamie Davenport (Corey Mylchreest), her charismatic but troubled literature tutor. The film’s genesis is unusually circular: it is an adaptation of Julia Whelan’s novel of the same name, which was itself adapted from an original screenplay by Allison Burnett. Burnett returns as a co-writer for this cinematic version, completing a rare journey from screen to page and back again. The project is helmed by BAFTA nominee Iain Morris, a director whose background in comedy suggests a deliberate, and perhaps unexpected, tonal strategy for the material.

Netflix’s Top Films & TV Series In The Data Dump Era: ‘Squid Game’ Stuns, British Bragging Rights, Plus Why ‘Boss Baby’ & ‘CoComelon’ Are King
Image
Netflix opened its big black box of data for the first time in 2023, lifting the lid on viewing figures for its entire catalog of movies and TV shows in spreadsheets that span tens of thousands of entries.

The so-called “data dump” reports titled “What We Watched,” released every six months, started breaking down the number of views for a title from July 2023, meaning we now have two years of comparable ratings to reflect on.

Deadline combined the data from the four reports to provide a rundown on what Netflix’s 300M-plus subscribers have been watching over the past two years. For transparency, Deadline used ChatGPT to consolidate and comb through the data, but our rankings have been fact-checked and provided to Netflix for comment.

Netflix Cancels Shonda Rhimes' 85% Rt Mystery Show More Than 3 Months After Debut
Image
Netflix has canceled a well-received Shonda Rhimes mystery show. After her extensive success with the ABC series Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Station 19, Rhimes made a multi-year deal with Netflix and pivoted to the streaming platform, where she has helped create more beloved series in the ever-expanding roster of Shondaland shows.

Netflix Cancels ‘Pulse’ and Shondaland’s ‘The Residence’ After One Season Each
Image
Netflix has axed two of its spring originals — the medical drama “Pulse” and Shondaland murder mystery “The Residence,” TheWrap has learned. As for “No Good Deed,” the streamer has yet to make a renewal decision about the show starring Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow.

“Pulse” was notable as it was Netflix’s first big medical drama, a genre that has long been successful on television. Both “ER” and “Grey’s Anatomy” fall into that category, and they remain two of the most beloved and widely referenced shows in television history. While Netflix’s medical play may have failed, HBO’s certainly didn’t. “The Pitt,” which came out months before the April premiere of “Pulse,” was a streaming hit for the streamer.

As for “The Residence,” which premiered in late March, the White House murder mystery starring Uzo Aduba was created by Paul William Davies and is based on Kate Andersen Brower’s book,...

‘Bridgerton’ Star Adjoa Andoh On How The Netflix Regency Smash “Amplified History” & Why Shonda Rhimes Is “Queen Of Long-Form Narrative” – Italian Global Series Festival
Image
Adjoa Andoh might be high society in the Bridgerton world, but for the British actress there’s only one Lady in scriptwriting – the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes.

Andoh was full of praise for Rhimes and Bridgerton, as she revealed why she had been attracted to playing Lady Agatha Danbury in the ground-breaking period drama.

“It’s based on an internationally best-selling series, it’s being driven by the queen of long-form narrative Shonda Rhimes and is on this bonkers platform, Netflix, that goes everywhere,” she said to a charmed audience.

She was talking at the Italian Global Series Festival today after receiving her Maximo Excellence Award in Rimini this week. The award closely followed Andoh wrapping filming on Season 4 of Bridgerton, as she revealed on Instagram last week.

Andoh was also asked about a Season 2 of spin-off series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which hasn’t yet been greenlit.

Netflix Thriller 'Hostage' Promises to "Blow Audiences Away"
Image
Netflix is no stranger to producing great thrillers, and it seems like the streamer might have another big hit on its hands later this summer when Hostage makes its premiere in August. Created by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), the five-episode limited series stars award-winning actresses Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) and Julie Delpy (Before Sunrise) as two heads of state, and sounds like it could be ripped from today's headlines.

Premiering on August 21, Hostage features Jones as British prime minister Abigail Dalton, and Delpy as French president Vivienne Toussaint. Jones also serves as an executive producer on the project, which promises to deliver a political thriller that will have viewers on the edge of their seats. The premise may seem a bit familiar given recent hits like Prime Video's G20 and Netflix's Zero Day, but it still sounds like it's going to be a worthy addition to the genre:

Queen Charlotte Could’ve Been Iconic if It Didn’t Butcher Bridgerton Lore for Royal Melodrama
Image
It’s nearly blasphemous to say it out loud, but not everyone feels that Queen Charlotte is the shining crown jewel of the Bridgerton universe. For many, the series was everything they hoped for, emotionally gripping, beautiful performances, and visually breathtaking. The praise has been thunderous and, to some extent, deserved.

Yet, beneath all that glitz lies a series that, while impressive, stumbles in ways that make it hard to wholeheartedly crown it as the best installment. The truth is, Queen Charlotte could have been iconic. Instead, it sometimes feels like a royal melodrama that lost sight of what made Bridgerton so compelling in the first place: its lore, its pacing, and its perfect balance between scandal and heart.

How Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story let emotion overpower its plot…

Queen Charlotte aimed to tell a love story full of pain, duty, and sacrifice, and on an emotional level,...

Image
After the news that Bridgerton Season 4 will officially be coming next year, we're learning a little more about the upcoming season. The season will be based on Julia Quinn's third Bridgerton book, An Offer from a Gentleman, and feature Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) as the leading man. Now, composer Kris Bowers is dishing on the music for the upcoming season as well as the connection to its prequel series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

Bowers tells Shondaland that “I created a slightly different sound, which was a lot of fun in terms of fresh instrumentation and approach to the music for the Bridgerton world." He says, "There’s a slight connection to Queen Charlotte for me [personally] because of the fact that you’re seeing people who are maybe not as commonly seen in high society.” We also already know that the sound of Taylor Swift is returning once again to the series.

Lady Violet’s Bridgerton Arc Is Either Getting a Proper Romance or a Pathetic Midlife Crisis in Season 4
Image
The Ton has its fair share of curious mamas, but none quite like Lady Violet Bridgerton. She’s the heart of the Bridgerton family, the steady anchor holding them all together. A widow who deeply loved her late husband, Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. She has spent years managing life at a grand estate and raising eight children.

Sure, the Bridgertons never had to worry about money, but Violet always dreamed of a home filled with love, not just luxury. And while she did have that with Edmund, it was heartbreakingly short-lived. In the years since, her focus has been her children, marrying them off, guiding them through life, and being the mother they’ve always needed.

If Bridgerton Season 4 Whitewashes Lady Danbury’s Backstory, the Netflix Series Will Prove It Cares More About Corsets Than Character
Image
After a stunning run for three seasons, Bridgerton is all set to once again return to the screens with a fourth season that is already as greatly anticipated as ever. While a lot of fans are looking forward to other storylines to materialize, including the show’s focus on Benedict’s love story, some are also hoping that the series does something about Lady Danbury’s backstory.

In the respective series’ prequel spin-off show Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a lot was hinted about the respective character’s past, and now, we are hoping the original Netflix series doesn’t whitewash her backstory just like that and instead plods more on it. Because if it does, then the show will inevitably end up proving that it cares more about corsets than characters.

Stars: Daisy Ridley, Matthew Tuck, Clive Owen, Lee Boardman, Rufus Jones, Taz Skylar, Ruth Gemmell | Written by Matthew Orton, Simon Uttley, Paul Andrew Williams | Directed by Martin Campbell

Since the original Die Hard took the world by storm in 1988, it has inspired countless sequels and knock-offs. From Die Hard 2: Die Harder set in an airport, to Under Siege on a naval vessel, Passenger 57 on a plane, and even Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down in the White House, the formula has been repeated in various locations, with a lone hero taking on the bad guys and saving the hostages.

Now, Cleaner, directed by Martin Campbell and written by Matthew Orton, Simon Uttley (James Hyde – The Very Thought of You), and Paul Andrew Williams, brings the formula back to where it all started,...
