Avis à la une
The series has been entertaining and enjoyable. From the scenery to the acting, everything was done well. Similar story to the Young Guns movie in a positive way. Only negative, the session 2 mid break. It's an 8 episode series and they take how many months off after only 4 episodes. Hopefully they at least finish season 2 before summer but like Yellowstone, these "mid season" breaks are another example of corporate greed. Please don't mention the writers strike as that's simply more greed. They are all guilty of the greed. Glad i binged this because I'm done giving these streaming providers more money!
I just finished Season 2 of Billy the Kid and was entertained throughout the entire series so far. This series takes a few episodes to really get going but once it did I binged right through it. So if you didn't enjoy the first couple episodes just stay with...it's worth it. I'm glad MGM+ renewed this because there is so much to Billy the Kid that one season wasn't enough. They could even go several more seasons with all the material on him that's out there. The actor who plays Billy is Tom Blyth and he gives one of the best Billy the Kid performances I've ever seen. Blyth also just starred in The Hunger Games prequel and has a very bright future in Hollywood. I have to admit that I'm a big fan of westerns so I'd probably enjoy this no matter what but it really is a solid show that I think most people will enjoy.
I'm, generally, enjoying the series and don't have the same complaints as others. I'm not a Billy-the-Kidofile so am not troubled by historical embellishments and I'm ok with the pacing.
Here's my complaint: we are told that Billy has deep and complex relationships with various other characters such as Jesse Evans, Melquiade Segura and Barbara but we aren't really shown it. Jesse is, potentially, the most interesting of these characters but he never rises above caricature. Yet, much of the story is driven by the assumption of authentic, dynamic relationships between Billy and these others. Instead, their interactions are flat ... no spark ... no chemistry. As a result, the various loyalties make no sense.
Also, Billy's insistence that he doesn't want to kill just before he kills gets a bit tiresome after a while. (Potential for a viewer drinking game?)
Billy the Kid is not unwatchable - it's competent story telling - it just never moves you the way you want it to.

Billy The Kid really puts into perspective that things aren't as black and white as they are portrayed. It begs the question: is Billy The Kid really a good person? Tom Blyth's performance as Billy The Kid really captures the essence of his character well. You can see just how remorseful Kid Antrim is for the things he's done. Daniel Webber and the guy who played Henry Antrim did a fantastic job at making me angry. It sucks that they left us on such a cliffhanger with the reintroduction of Pat Garrett and I'm so excited for the rest of season 2. A lot of people say that it fell short with the historical aspect of things and I agree there but all in all, it's an entertaining and intriguing show about the life of a famous outlaw, Billy The Kid.
Hopefully they'll be making a 3rd season. I'm enjoying this rendition of the kid. Hoping they don't leave us hanging with no real resolve of this story. There's much more they could present of the kids life and adventures. I'm hoping to see some more of the kids guys that he rode with later in life.
