Criminal thriller series with comedy , suspense , intrigue , twists and turns as well as family life and anything else . Stars Laura Lebrel (Maria Pujalte) a brilliant homicide detective , as she solves the most twisted and complex crimes while balancing a very busy personal and family life , alongside her mother (Beatriz Carvajal). There are ordinarily some grisly killing and various suspects and Laura has to practice her intelligence and skillness to find out the hard crimes . There are several set pieces that form the puzzles of the perfect crime mixing mystery with the everyday and personal misadventures of our protagonist , Inspector Lebrel , well played by Maria Pujalte , who along the way wears an occasional frumpy raincoat as a detective Colombo's homenage . Here shows up her ex-hubby inspector chief Jacobo Salgado (Fernando Guillén Cuervo) , her handsome and loyal colleague Martin Maresca (Oriol Tarrasón) , as well as cop Lydia Martínez (Laura Pamplona) and policeman Vicente Cuevas (César Camino) . Indeed, if there were awards for simplicity , stubborness and obliviousness , Laura would probably be the most decorated detective on the police force . The original series is formed by 32 episodes in which Madrid homicide Detective cracks case after case while raising wild twin boys with her less than helpful Police Detective ex-husband . Besides , dealing with her understanding and snooper mother while taking care of her two young little boys who used to cause anyone to lose patience . As Laura's nosy mother always has some advice about home , work and relationships , all while trying not to miss an episode of her favorite soap opera . As Laura trapping bad guys and as a housewife she has to raise two playful kiddies , as well . In each episode , Laura has to solve a twisted criminal case as well as take the kids to school and make dinner . She investigates each week , but the daunted cases are always much simpler than the parts that make up her personal life . Dealing with her relationship with fellow inspector Jacobo , ex-hubby, Fernando Gullen Cuervo , is somewhat difficult , that's why he is also her ex and the father of her children ; it does her detective work more and more hard to carry out . Laura Lebrel is a very special detective, who has to juggle the demands of being a homemaker , the separated mother of young twin boys and a police inspector . As a detective she does not rely so much on science or psychology , but more importantly on intuition , fate , chance and instinct , as well as a dogged determination to dismantle the perfect alibi . Although she always gets her guilty , man or woman , it is never without more than a few obstacles and bumps on the road .

Detective Laura Lebrel bumbles her way through one case after another, one embarrassing accident or social faux pas after another, yet always figures out the mystery in the end. While the solution to the mysteries often stretches credibility, the likability of Laura and the rest of the cast that makes every episode enjoyable and entertaining.

"Los misterios de Laura" reminds me a lot of "Murder She Wrote," a lot of plots/resolutions a bit too flimsy, but you like Angela Lansbury and the character of Jessica Fletcher enough to forgive those shortcomings. Laura Lebrel has an everywoman charm that is easy to relate to. She is hopelessly clumsy, both physically and socially. She doesn't rely on CSI-style forensic evidence to solve mysteries. Nor is she a Sherlock Holmes-level genius. Instead, everywoman Laura just uses intuition and common-sense observation to figure out the key to mysteries nobody else seems able to solve.

Laura is helped by her trusty partner, incorrigible lady's man Martin. When she occasionally steps out of bounds to investigate a case, her boss, who also happens to be her ex-husband, always has her back. And on the home front, Laura's meddling busybody mother and two mischief-making identical twin sons make sure that Laura always has her hands full off-duty.

Laura is a normal if somewhat kooky person with a normal if somewhat kooky life who happens to have a tremendous gift for crime-solving. Sometimes the mysteries and their resolutions are great, sometimes they're a bit far-fetched or too pat, but the show is always fun, regardless.
