Paradox Effect

I've never written a review on this platform before, but this movie was so bad that I felt it necessary to share my thoughts. I was unable to sit through the entire film; it clearly fits the B-grade category, with unconvincing performances and a flimsy plot. I expected far more given the positive reviews. It left me disappointed and baffled by how it has any good reviews at all. What's with the radio host? It makes no sense. Have seen the main actress in good films before but this is unfortunately not one of them. I just wouldn't waste your time on this one. I recommend chosing something else.

I'm used to her kicking ass and being a strong character in this film. She was trying to act strong but she was just awful. The script is awful. The actors were awful. Harvey Keitel was terrible and the premises foolish because she's like this reform junkie and all of a sudden by the end of the show, she's like shooting weapons and, jumping over cars like someone said knocking out the bad guys I mean just ridiculous The last few movies she has been awful and however cartel is like his day has come and gone. A little girl in this movie cannot act her way out of a paper bag.

And the black kid with the African accent is like trying to be tough guy drug dealer not buying it . And the cop Interpol undercover cop is really bad. I mean he shouldn't give up his day job.

Mother and Cop work together to get out of a sticky situation and under the threat of a mob leader.

Personally, I don't like when a script puts character in a position and their reaction is to be "incompetent". But sometimes it is realistic, and understandable. But it feels like this movie is consistently taking this line, which becomes frustrating after a point.

Not to mention the so-called "reasoning" behind the lead's pairing making little sense, as we have a father already in pain immediately subjecting someone else to the same suffering.. defies logic (and taking over half the film to get there).

The chain of events and execution of the premise leave a LOT to be desired.. I didn't enjoy this at all. Can't really recommend it.

Ok, I didn't fall asleep, but this was painful to watch. Another reviewer said it felt long despite being 88 minutes and I have to say, I was convinced this was 2 hours or more.

I'm American and tend to only like American films, but I saw The Courier a year or two ago and Olga was great and the film was far better than it should have been. Gary Oldman brought his game and I thought Harvey would do the same here.

The plot was weak and I found it hard to care about any of it or the people involved and of course, everybody was stupid and made the wrong choice leading to the overall mess that this movie was.

No idea what the budget was, but this movie was so bad, Matt Damon couldn't have saved it.

The actors tried really hard to make something of a very thin screenplay. The plot was fine, the visuals actually great for what was clearly a tiny budget and the editing good.

Harvey Keitel was chronically underused but maybe that was a contractual thing and Kurylenko was quite decent although not believable as an ex-addict; too beautiful!

The main problem for me was the poor screenplay, script and pacing. The plot crawled along at an agonisingly slow pace at it's worst and the twist incredibly improbable.

Still, it's better than Twisters and A Quiet Place: Day One on a fraction of their budgets.
