I highly recommend this film. I am so happy I found it. It had me laughing at times and it had me crying at times. Absolutely inspiring performances by Nick Nolte and Dharon Jones. Other than a few colorful words, the film was very family friendly and the language was not gratuitous and helped the plot move along. Amazing talent!!!! What a great musical gift Mr. Jones has been blessed with. I have always liked Nick Nolte. However this was by far his best performance to date. It's never too late to get that Academy Award Mr. Nolte. After all, Moses did not get his first real job until he was eighty years old.
And this was really cool story. So glad I watched it. Dahron Jones can sing!!
I did get emotional at times and at other times the character development and background story could have been better explained, but the sentiment and the entire point of the movie were not affected by those omissions.
I have not seen Nick Nolte act in a number of years and loved him in the Beverly Hills Cop shows. So good to see him still at it.
The setting in Rittenhouse Square was really cool and this film reminds me that we ALL have stories which can oftentimes hold us back, or move us forward. This story will move me forward!

I really enjoyed this movie, it's a captivating portrayal of resilience and the transformative power of music. The film follows the journey of a gifted singer, Dharon Jones aka KJ, whose life takes unexpected turns, leading to both personal struggles and triumphs. With a compelling narrative and powerful performances, particularly Nick Nolte's, the movie beautifully captures the essence of hope and redemption. The soundtrack is a standout, featuring original songs that enhance the emotional depth of the story. Overall, "The Golden Voice" is an inspiring cinematic experience that resonates with anyone who has ever chased their dreams against the odds.
I really enjoyed this movie a lot. Nolte was great playing a homeless man that had a devastating past. The kid could use some acting lessons but has a great voice. Two improvements needed are better songs for the kid to sing and the background music choices was horrible. I think a kid in elementary school could have chosen better music.
I thought Nick Nolte did an outstanding job with his role. I haven't seen him in years, and he was barely recognizable. I thought the story had some holes in it. The young son goes missing, yet the mother doesn't call the police? She doesn't look for him? She does nothing but stay home day after day and hope for the best?
A major problem for me was that the lead character couldn't sing. He had a terrible, irritating voice, and it was hard to understand the words he was singing. My wife used to be a musician, and she said the lead was no singer. Also, singing for tips is going to give him enough money to go away on an audition? Unless the audition is in the same city, I don't think so.
Aside from Nolte, I did not like this movie. I am a Christian and like Christian movies, but this did not strike me as having a central Christian theme. Aside from the mother having a minor role as a pastor, there was little reference to Christianity, or mention of Jesus. Also, the "f" word is never used in Christian movies.
