Apple TV+ Hikes Its Monthly Price by 30 Percent
Image
Apple TV+ is increasing its monthly price. (So much for that whole discount thing.)

The streaming service will now cost $12.99 per month in the U.S., up from $9.99, representing a 30 percent increase. The price hike is effective as of today, Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, for new customers; existing customers will see their bill go up within 30 days.

“Select international markets” will also see a monthly-price increase, Apple said in a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter.

The $99.99 annual rate for Apple TV+ remains unchanged, as does the pricing for Apple’s big bundle of services, Apple One (starting at $19.95/month).

Apple TV+ remains the only major streamer to not have an ad-supported option. The SVOD service last raised its price in October 2023, another $3/month jump.

The announcement comes one day after Apple TV+ released the trailer for season four of one of its flagship original series, The Morning Show. The price increase...

Sydney Sweeney’s Apple TV+ Thriller Is Slowly Climbing the Streaming Charts Despite 52% Rt Score
Image
Sydney Sweeney’s latest Apple TV+ thriller movie, Echo Valley, might have a lackluster Rotten Tomatoes audience rating of 52%, but it is moving up the charts and is currently placed at the third position in the movie section, per Flix Patrol. The movie stars Julianne Moore as a weathered horse trainer, Kate Garrett, and Sweeney as Kate’s daughter, Claire Garrett.

Echo Valley had a limited theatrical release in Canada and the U.S. on June 6, 2025, ahead of its premiere on Apple TV+ on June 13. While the movie has not been a critical darling, with an IMDb score of 6.3, it is still racking up views on Apple TV+.

It is only behind titles like Fountain of Youth and The Gorge, leaving behind high-profile movies such as Wolfs and Greyhound. While Fountain of Youth is a heist action-adventure starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski, The Gorge is a sci-fi romantic drama...

Everyone’s Talking About Brad Pitt's Apple TV+ Movie Wolfs (& Its Lost Sequel)
Image
One of Brad Pitt's most successful recent films, which should have received a sequel, remains a big streaming hit nearly a year after its premiere. The Apple TV+ action comedy, Wolfs, continues to be a steady performer on the charts as fans wonder what could have been for the potential film series.

Via Flix Patrol, Wolfs is once again a top 10 hit on Apple TV+'s U.S. movie chart. The film, which features Pitt alongside fellow Hollywood A-lister George Clooney, ranks sixth on the chart, topped by Guy Ritchie's heist action adventure, Fountain of Youth.

Big plans were in store for Wolfs after Apple won the rights to the film in 2021. Helmed by Jon Watts, Wolfs reunited Pitt and Clooney, who starred alongside each other in the Ocean's trilogy and Burn After Reading during the 2000s. The movie was set for a theatrical release before transitioning to...

Chris Evans' Ghosted Is a Worldwide Hit 2 Years Later
Image
Bad reviews can no longer prevent a movie from finding success on streaming platforms. Chris Evans' critically panned action rom-com Ghosted is back on the streaming charts more than two years after its release on Apple TV+.

According to FlixPatrol, as of Aug. 17, Ghosted is ranked No. 7 on Apple TV+'s Top Movies Worldwide chart, coming in behind Greyhound, Wolfs, Luck, Echo Valley, The Gorge, and The Fountain of Youth. This isn't the first time that Ghosted has found its way back onto Apple TV+'s streaming charts, as there was some renewed interest back in June, around the time Ana de Armas', Evans' co-star in the 2023 action flick, newest movie, Ballerina, hit theaters.

World War Z 2: Everything We Know as Brad Pitt’s Canceled Sequel Returns from the Dead
Image
With a regime change at Paramount, new chairman and CEO David Ellison has put World War Z 2 on priority [The Hollywood Reporter].

After the initial idea was scrapped following a troubled production in 2019, Ellison’s announcement has left fans optimistic about finally getting the long-deserved sequel back on track. As good as Marc Foster’s 2013 adaptation was, one can only imagine the masterpiece waiting to happen once David Fincher (who was originally on board to direct the sequel) gets his hands on the script.

The only question remains whether Fincher will return to helm the project after Paramount shelved the project due to creative disagreements with the director.

Anya Taylor-Joy's Sci-Fi Movie 'The Gorge' Takes the Throne From John Krasinski
Image
Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth has been a dominant force on Apple TV+ ever since it debuted. Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as the sibling duo of Luke and Charlotte Purdue, the movie has been a huge hit for the streamer and reportedly earned 765.5 million minutes watched in its first week alone, despite receiving just 35% from critics and 38% from audiences. However, one of Fountain of Youth's big early rivals has finally bitten back, reclaiming its throne on the streaming platform.

As of August 7, director Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge is back at the top of Apple TV+'s movie streaming charts in the U.S. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller, the movie received a much better reception than Ritchie's Fountain of Youth upon arrival, illustrated by a 62% critics' score and a 75% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Both movies hold the #1 and #2 spots on Apple TV...

Brad Pitt and George Clooney's Must-Watch Crime Comedy 'Burn After Reading' Is Leaving Streaming Soon
Image
For anyone who hasn’t seen Burn After Reading, this is the perfect time to catch one of the Coen Brothers’ most underrated comedies before it leaves Netflix on September 1. The film came out in 2008 and has a solid 78% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s full of the Coens’ signature dark humor, absurd situations, and clueless characters trying to outsmart a system they barely understand. The film also features Ocean’s fan favorites Brad Pitt and George Clooney sharing the screen again. 2024’s Wolfs was also heavily hyped for reuniting the duo, but Burn After Reading quietly pulled it off years earlier, and in far more unhinged roles.

The plot of Burn After Reading centers around a disk containing the memoirs of a retired CIA analyst, which ends up in the hands of two clueless gym employees. They think they’ve found a golden ticket and try to blackmail...

Pedro Pascal Dropped Out of ‘Weapons’ and His ‘Schedule Threw Us Into Turmoil,’ Says Director: ‘I Had to Recast the Entire Movie’ After Strike Delays
Image
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Weapons” director Zach Cregger confirmed the original cast of his upcoming horror movie included Pedro Pascal, Brian Tyree Henry, Austin Abrams and “The Worst Person in the World” favorite Renate Reinsve. Then came the Hollywood strikes, which delayed production on “Weapons” so much that Cregger was forced to recast from the ground up.

“I had a whole different cast for this movie. And then we had the strike, and then Pedro Pascal’s schedule threw us into turmoil. I had to recast the entire movie,” Cregger said.

“This is what happens, right?” he added. “The strikes delayed us, and then when you delay, people’s schedules get conflicts, and then you’re back at square one. I bear no ill will towards anybody. We just kept getting delayed and delayed. It’s like a domino effect. So I had to start over again.

30 Hollywood Celebrities Who’ve Completely Quit Social Media
Image
These days, it feels like everyone’s online. Even your dog has an Instagram, your ex is oversharing on Threads, and celebs? Well, they’re usually posting, tagging, promoting, or live-streaming from somewhere fabulous. But not everyone in Hollywood is chasing likes or curating aesthetic feeds. Yes, the list of celebrities who are not on social media includes some of the biggest names in the industry.

And honestly? This feels kind of ironic. Why? Well, while most of the stars are documenting every coffee run or cryptically subtweeting each other, these Hollywood celebrities are completely off-grid. No Instagram thirst traps, no “I’m taking a break” tweet, no TikTok dances at 2 am.

They’re either fiercely private, totally uninterested, or just too cool to be caught up in digital noise. Some of them did join but logged off forever after one too many weird DMs or internet meltdowns, while others never joined to begin with.

'Really Wonderful Actor:' George Clooney Says There More To Adam Sandler Than Goofy Comedies
Image
George Clooney recognizes just how good Adam Sandler can be with the right script. The actor recently heaped praise on his Jay Kelly co-star for his portrayal of more serious roles.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, Clooney discussed what it was like working with director Noah Baumbach on his upcoming film Jay Kelly and his relationship with Sandler, who plays the titular actor's manager, Ron. Although some of Sandler's comedy films have been criticized over the years, Clooney believes that Jay Kelly will showcase his acting range. "This film, more than any film Adam has done, shows what a beautiful, heartfelt, soulful actor he is," the actor said.

"I kept telling the cast, 'Don't call him Sand Man. Don't talk to him like he's just some goofy comedian,'" Clooney continued. "He's actually a really beautiful, wonderful actor. Because of what his paycheck is, which is doing big goofy comedies, when he does these other,...

Brad Pitt’s ‘Nice Guys’ Replacement Is Still a Global Streaming Hit As It Approaches a Major Anniversary
Image
Brad Pitt’s latest blockbuster is still dominating the box office, but before starring in F1, he reunited with his former Ocean’s Eleven star for a hitman thriller dominating streaming charts. Pitt stars alongside George Clooney in Wolfs, the 2024 conspiracy thriller following two rival fixers who cross paths when they’re both called to the same job. Wolfs was released straight to streaming on Apple TV+ near the end of last year, and ahead of its one-year anniversary, the film is still charting in the top 10 in more than 15 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and even Vietnam. Wolfs earned decent scores of 67% from critics and 72% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film was written and directed by Jon Watts, best known for his work on the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy.

The most interesting part of the Wolfs saga is the sequel that never came to fruition.

‘F1’ Review – Brad Pitt, Power, and the Politics of the Modern Sports Movie
Image
Joseph Kosinski returns to the director’s chair with ‘F1: The Movie,’ a muscular, precision-crafted racing drama that often falters to meld emotional weight with turbocharged spectacle. With dazzling practical effects and a grounded script, ‘F1’ is a solid popcorn drama that demands to be seen on the big screen. ‘F1’ is not a subtle film, and it is not trying to be. It’s bombastic, heart-pounding, and a very formulaic (no-pun-intended) underdog story. This is a $200 million spectacle backed by Formula One, featuring real-world racers, immersive practical effects, and director Joseph Kosinski’s signature flair for hyperreal action. Much like his iconic work in smash hit 2022 film ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ Kosinski trades narrative complexity for aerodynamic clarity: the stakes are simple, the motivations direct, and every frame is tuned to maximize velocity. It is less an introspective look at the world of racing than a sensory ride through it.

Brad Pitt’s ‘F1 Movie’ Leaves Keanu Reeves’ $447 Million Blockbuster in the Dust at the Global Box Office
Image
Having already established itself as the highest-grossing film ever produced by a tech company, Apple’s F1 is racing towards the coveted $500 million milestone at the global box office. In its fourth weekend of release, the movie zoomed past the $450 million mark thanks to another solid hold, despite fresh competition from a trio of new releases that all underperformed. Starring Brad Pitt, F1 remains in a contest with holdover hits such as Jurassic World Rebirth and James Gunn’s Superman. In a few days, it’ll have to fend off additional competition from Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps. But it can bask in the glory of becoming the year’s biggest original blockbuster, having overtaken Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

With $155 million domestically and another $307 million from overseas markets, F1 has grossed a cumulative total of $460 million worldwide. This puts the movie ahead of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s A Star is Born,...

Saoirse Ronan may only be 31 years old, but she’s already a four-time Oscar nominee for her work in films like Atonement, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, and, of course, Little Women. However, last year she starred alongside a future Beatlesstar in a quickly forgotten WWII movie that’s still a streaming hit. Ronan features opposite Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw) in Blitz, the period drama telling the stories of a group of Londoners during the German bombing of the British capital in WWII.Blitz is currently streaming on Apple TV+, and although it’s no longer charting in America, it is in countries such as Belarus, Cyprus, and Belize. Blitz earned scores of 81% from both critics and audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed only $1.4 million in theaters during an extremely limited release.

'F1' Overtakes the Tim Burton Remake that Sent Roger Ebert Into a Spiral at the Global Box Office
Image
After navigating through the competition posed by Jurassic World Rebirth last week, F1 faced a fresh challenge from director James Gunn’s Superman reboot, which dominated theaters across the globe in its debut. F1 slipped to the third spot, as it continued its sprint towards the coveted $500 million milestone. The big-budget sports drama, produced by Apple Studios, was released theatrically by Warner Bros. It’s already the highest-grossing movie produced by a tech company, and on track to become the biggest film of star Brad Pitt’s career.

With $136 million domestically and another $257 million from overseas markets, F1 has cumulatively grossed $393 million worldwide. This puts it ahead of hits such as the original Top Gun, Minority Report, and Tim Burton’s derided remake of Planet of the Apes. George Clooney & Brad Pitt's Sleeper Action Movie Is Quietly Climbing the Streaming Charts 1 Year Later
Image
A slept-on action movie starring award-winning actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt awakens on the streaming circuit almost a year after its premiere. The duo's Apple TV+ action comedy, Wolfs, climbs the streaming charts.

Per Flix Patrol, Wolfs is a top 10 hit on Apple TV+'s U.S. movie chart. The Jon Watts-helmed film ranks 6th on the streaming platform's list, having been a top-five hit last month, reinforcing itself as a fan-favorite movie since its initial premiere last September.

Though Wolfs has been a big hit for Apple TV+, becoming the service's most-viewed film upon its release, the film was initially set for an extended theatrical run before transitioning to streaming. However, those plans were shelved at the last minute, with Apple brass opting for a one-week theatrical release and no international screenings before moving it to Apple TV+.

The Emptiness of High-Budget Original Streaming Films
Image
What do audiences lose when studios swap the magic of the theatre for yet another forgettable big-budget release that quietly lands on streaming and is forgotten before the next boring release comes around? Does anyone remember Guy Ritchie’s “Fountain of Youth”? It came out just a few months ago on Apple TV as an original film with a whopping $180 million budget. Twenty years ago, the idea of such a high-budget film not releasing in the cinemas for wide audiences would have been almost unthinkable.

The film itself received mixed-to-negative reviews; however, the worst part about it is just how utterly forgettable it was. Start to finish, this movie unfolds as an empty void of soulless entertainment that almost demands you turn your brain off so as not to be distracted by its deeply flawed script. It’s certainly not the first high-budget film to be made in this vein,...

Apple Finally Has a Box Office Hit With ‘F1.’ What’s Next for the Studio’s Movie Strategy?
Image
Champagne showers, a staple of Formula One races, may be reserved for the racetrack, but the mood at Apple was certainly celebratory over the weekend, as the big-budget “F1” delivered the studio its first box office hit.

The film, starring Brad Pitt as a has-been Formula One driver who gets coerced out of retirement, generated $57 million domestically and $146.3 million in its opening weekend. Though “F1” cost roughly $250 million to produce and requires several laps around the track to turn a theatrical profit, these initial ticket sales are encouraging for an original, adult-skewing tentpole.

It’s also a much-needed win for Apple. Six years into the tech giant’s foray into the movie business, the company has fielded underperforming auteur-driven fare and critically derided flops (“Fly Me to the Moon” and “Argylle”) but nothing that’s been remotely commercial. Apple seemed to be rethinking its film strategy after deciding to curtail...

Spider-Man Director Teases Star Wars Future After Skeleton Crew
Image
Series creator Jon Watts finally addressed his future in the Star Wars universe, after the critical success of the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew. Watts is best known for his directorial work on Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ blockbuster Spider-Man MCU trilogy led by Tom Holland.

During a recent interview with Collider, when asked about the possibility of working on another Star Wars project in the future, Watts seemingly hinted that there might be something already in the works after sharing that he would get in trouble if he continued to talk about his future in the long-running sci-fi franchise.

"I love Star Wars, and I would love to make more Star Wars. I can't say anything more. We always get in trouble when we do these interviews. I always say something, and I get in trouble. Like, I probably shouldn’t have said that. [...] You're going to get me in trouble,...

Why Tom Holland's Spider-Man Trilogy Director Left Marvel's Fantastic Four Reboot
Image
Captain America might have the brawn, and Iron Man might have the brains, but Spider-Man rules movie theaters. The Marvel superhero has conquered the box office on more than one occasion, including when "Spider-Man: No Way Home" grossed over $1.9 billion at the global box office in 2021. That success of that movie and the previous entries in the Tom Holland-led "Spider-Man" trilogy has also made Jon Watts, who co-wrote and directed all three films, one of Marvel Studios' key creatives at a time where the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in flux.

The lynchpin of this next era of the MCU is the introduction of the Fantastic Four, and so it was no surprise that Watts was Marvel's first choice to welcome the House of Ideas' First Family into the property. But a few months after the release of "No Way Home," the studio announced that Watts would...

Top Gun: Maverick, released in 2022, is a sequel to Cruise's 1986 action-adventure. The follow-up sees Pete "Maverick" Mitchell training an elite team of graduates for a special assignment, while confronting the ghost from his past. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the movie received high praise from both critics and fans.

It currently has a critic score of 96% and an audience score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, with many claiming that the sequel surpassed the original in delivery and entertainment.

Jon Watts Exited ‘Fantastic Four’ After ‘Draining’ Experience Directing ‘No Way Home’: ‘I Was Just Out of Steam’
Image
Jon Watts is sharing a relatable truth: Sometimes directors get burnt out, too. The filmmaker, who singlehandedly revived the “Spider-Man” IP with his Tom Holland-led features, said during a recent masterclass at the Mediterrane Film Festival (via THR) that he exited fellow MCU project “The Fantastic Four” because he was just “out of gas.”

Watts was announced announced as the director of a new “Fantastic Four” movie in 2020. He parted ways with the project in 2022; Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said at the time that the studio was “supportive of his reasons for stepping away.”

Now, Watts is explaining why he dropped out of directing “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” (Matt Shakman is helming the feature, which will be released in theaters on July 25). “I was out of gas,” Watts said. “The Covid layer on top of making a giant movie layer, I knew I didn’t have what...

Collider’s Steve Weintraub recently moderated a panel with Watts (who has an exclusive deal with Disney) at the Mediterrane Film Festival, and he asked if he was done with the franchise, or if he could see himself returning:

"I love Star Wars, and I would love to make more Star Wars. I can't say anything more. We always get in trouble when we do these interviews. I always say something, and I get in trouble. Like, I probably shouldn’t have said that. [...] You're going to get me in trouble."

Image

Fast-forward, a few months later, and a film that seemingly had no takers, even with a strong initial buzz and plans for a sequel, is taking over streaming charts. Despite the sequel being scrapped, Pitt’s Wolfs is performing well on streaming, and here is everything you need to know about its resurgence.

Brad Pitt’s Action Comedy (That Had Its Sequel Controversially Axed) Is a Streaming Hit as F1 Premiere Looms
Image
With F1 racing into theaters soon, another recent Brad Pitt movie is finding renewed interest online. Apple TV+'s action comedy Wolfs, starring Pitt alongside fellow A-lister George Clooney, is once again a hit on the streaming service nearly a year after its premiere.

Per Collider, Wolfs is trending globally in the Top 5 of Apple TV+'s movie chart. The Jon Watts film continues to be popular for Apple after becoming the platform's most-viewed title upon its unexpected streaming debut in September 2024 -- and the cancellation of its intended sequel.

Wolfs saw the Oscar-winning actors -- who also serve as producers -- portraying a pair of nameless professional fixers who were forced to work together on a job, despite being rivals and preferring to work alone. After premiering to lukewarm feedback at 2024's Venice International Film Festival, Wolfs earned more solid reviews upon release. It had a 67% critical rating and 72% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Brad Pitt’s $200 Million Crime Thriller Is a Sleeper Hit on Streaming Despite Sequel Cancellation
Image
Brad Pitt is in the middle of promoting his next movie, F1, but before that he starred in an action thriller that’s become a hit on streaming despite a major obstacle. Pitt stars alongside George Clooney in Wolfs, the crime thriller following two rival fixers who both prefer to work alone. However, their paths cross when they’re called to the same job, forcing them to set aside their differences to finish their toughest job yet. Wolfs premiered on Apple TV+ last year on September 20, and the film has found continued streaming success, currently trending in the top five globally on the streamer. Wolfs was a straight-to-streaming release, so it did not report any box office numbers, but it earned scores of 67% from critics and 72% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

While Wolfs has been moderately well-liked by critics and audiences, the film hasn’t been without its controversy.

Image
Miles Teller’s popularity exploded a few years ago thanks to the release of Top Gun: Maverick, and now a more recent sci-fi thriller from the star has stumbled into profound streaming success. Teller stars alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in The Gorge, a sci-fi monster film following two operatives who are stationed at towers on opposite sides of a dangerous gorge. The Gorge hit Apple TV+ earlier this year on February 14, and despite not receiving any form of theatrical release with a $70 million budget, the film has found sustained dominance on streaming charts, currently in the top 10 in more than 50 countries around the world, including occupying the #3 spot in the United States. The Gorge earned 63% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience-driven Popcornmeter came to rest at 75%.

F1 Rotten Tomatoes Score Shifts Gears For Brad Pitt After 6-Year Slump(Photo Credit –YouTube)

Brad Pitt’s highly ambitious F1: The Movie has completed its first loop ahead of the upcoming premiere, with its review embargo now lifted. The movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski, famed for Top Gun: Maverick, who styled this Formula 1 sports flick in a similar point-of-view canvas.

At last, F1 has faced its first set of movie critics, and its Rotten Tomatoes score is out. But how has it performed compared to other recent films starring the Troy actor, his Interview with the Vampire rival Tom Cruise, and, more importantly, other racing dramas?

Critics Have Found F1 Formulaic, But in a Pleasant Way

F1: The Movie has been welcomed by critics warmly but not as energetically as one might expect. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds an 84% certified fresh rating based on 58 critics’ reviews.

It’s not exactly news that Brad Pitt is dating Ines de Ramon.

The couple has been together for over two years at this point.

And yet: It does make headlines when the actor and the businesswoman are seen in public, as they have managed to keep their relationship pretty far out of the spotlight since speculation started to run rampant about their status in late 2022.

On Monday night, though, fans were treated to the following photo…

The Death of the Movie Star Has Been Greatly Exaggerated
Image
Do movie stars still exist? Film journalists, cinephiles, and producers have been debating this point for over a decade, declaring the movie star extinct.

But throughout the 2010s, Hollywood leaned into intellectual properties and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while original films starring A-list talents like Jennifer Lawrence (“Passengers”), Johnny Depp (“The Lone Ranger”), and Will Smith (“Gemini Man”) flopped, and gradually everybody seemed to be lining up to pay their respects at the grave of the movie star.

They’ve blamed the death on Hollywood’s hunger for IP, the erasure of the mid-budget movie, and the rise of television. But many of these arguments miss the forest for the trees: We not only still have movie stars today, but stardom today is very similar to what it was in the Golden Age of Hollywood. The film industry is not post-movie stars, and big-name actors still influence audiences’ viewing habits and films’ financial success.

Image
Sydney Sweeney In A Tense Movie Moment ( Photo Credit – X )

Apple TV+ has a new thriller generating buzz, and it’s a film that pairs two very different stars, Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney. The film, Echo Valley, is making waves despite not being a critical darling, and viewers are still clicking play and pushing it ahead of other titles like Fountain of Youth, The Gorge, and Wolfs.

Although Echo Valley has not overtaken Stick as per Apple TV+, it’s currently one of the top-performing movies on the platform this week, which says a lot for a recent release.

Sydney Sweeney's New Thriller Movie Tops Apple TV+ Charts Despite 50% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
A new thriller movie, starring Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney, is now Apple TV+'s top movie. Sweeney earned her place as a household name after starring in HBO's Euphoria as Cassie Howard in 2019. She has since gone on to star in The White Lotus, the box office success Immaculate (2024), and Sony's disappointing Madame Web (2024). Sweeney earned two Outstanding Supporting Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and is poised to continue to rise in Hollywood in the coming years.

Moore, meanwhile, has been active in the industry since the '80s, having starred in a variety of movies, including The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998), Psycho (1998), Hannibal (2001), and Children of Men (2006). She even played a crucial role in the Hunger Games franchise, playing the villainous revolutionary President Coin. This is also not her first major Apple TV performance, given that she led the show Lisey's Story for the platform.

Peter Bart: George Clooney And Tom Cruise Building Strong Third Acts For Their Careers
Image
Tom Cruise and George Clooney may seem to have little in common except for this: Pushing through their mid-60s, the two stars proved this year that it’s possible to defy the odds and create strong third acts for their acting careers. And to relish the risks.

Clooney’s Broadway foray was a major success and so was its debut on CNN over the weekend. Having filled its theater for a month, Good Night, and Good Luck was re-invented as live theater on TV. For Clooney, it was a welcome turnaround: Only a year earlier, his popcorn movie with Brad Pitt (Wolfs) had tanked, and he was hearing rumbles about his politics and personal life.

Cruise’s eighth Mission: Impossible re-awakened the global box office yet again, even invading the Guinness Book of Records (do they really chart burning parachute jumps?). But a year ago, his budget was drifting...

When George Clooney & Brad Pitt Teamed Up To Prank Wolfs Director Jon Watts: “They Were Just F*****g With Me”
Image
It’s been a minute since Wolfs dropped, but the George Clooney and Brad Pitt comedy still holds up, not just on screen. Behind the scenes, the film came with a prank so slick, it could’ve been part of the script. Director Jon Watts sat down early in development expecting a full-on pitch session. Instead, he walked straight into a setup. Clooney had already signed on. Pitt was locked too. But Clooney decided to mess with Watts for fun, and Pitt played along perfectly.

How Did George Clooney & Brad Pitt Prank Jon Watts?

In an interview with Variety, Jon Watts recalled meeting with Clooney and Pitt to discuss the project while still locking in the cast. Clooney was already committed but decided to have a little fun before things got official. He gave Watts a “warning.”

“Listen, I think this is really good. I think Brad’s going to be into it.

Michael Douglas: Silicon Valley Has Made Producers ‘Look Like Paupers’
Image
Michael Douglas is detailing just how much streaming has affected the role of producers in Hollywood. The actor/producer, who at Cannes was celebrating the 50th anniversary of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” which he produced and won an Oscar for, told Deadline that Silicon Valley-based companies such as Amazon and Apple have “inhaled Hollywood.” And that’s even despite filmmaking not being their core conglomerate purpose.

“Today, streaming has taken over. It has inhaled Hollywood. It’s very lucrative,” Douglas said. “Silicon Valley made us look like paupers. For Amazon and Apple, movies are a side business. At the same time, many of the great screenwriters went to work in TV and streaming.”

Douglas, who won the Best Picture Oscar alongside Saul Zaentz for “Cuckoo’s Nest,” recalled how the iconic Miloš Forman film itself fared in theaters. The drama made history as one of the three films...

Hopefully, you’ve recovered from the trauma of the “Final Destination” franchise in the last decade and change since the fifth film came out, because it’s time to reenter the fray with “Final Destination: Bloodlines.”

In theaters on Friday, the sixth film in the series serves as both an origin tale and a new installment. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein and based on a story concocted by “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Wolfs” director Jon Watts, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” reveals that Death’s incessant chase really started in the 1960s when a young woman cheated death by saving a group of her peers from a brutal death in a Seattle Space Needle-type structure.

Now, she claims the specter of death is haunting family members of the would-be victims, because they were never supposed to exist in the first place. And, as always, they face some pretty gruesome means of exiting this earth.
