British actress Alanah Bloor has been cast as Lady Marianna Guillonk.
Sandokan is directed by Jan Michelini and Nicola Abbatangelo.
The role of Yanez de Gomera has been recast. Italian actor Alessandro Preziosi is playing the role of Yanez.
Not much is known, but there has been an announcement by Lux Vide. The series will be inspired by the popular eleven adventure novels by Italian author Emilio Salgari. Sandokan chronicles the story of the legendary 19th century pirate and his band, the Tigers of Mompracem, fighting against the colonial power of the Dutch and British empires in South East Asia. It is supposed to be a fresh and modern take on the world of Salgari, with a strong female point of view from the brave heroines, such as Lady Marianna.
The announced locations include places in Lazio, Tuscany and Calabria, as well as the island of Reunion.
Sandokan is currently in the post-production phase. The first trailer has been shown to a limited audience during the London TV Screenings in February 2025.
The filming of Sandokan officially started in Rome on 22 April 2024, and finished on the island of La Reunion on 4 September 2024.
One of the line producers announed that Sandokan should be released in Italy in the second half of 2025, and in other countries from 2026.
There is a rumor that Sandokan will have at least three seasons. The head writer of Lux Vide, Elena Bucaccio, confirmed that they are in the process of writing season 2.
