Despite me not being part of the main target audience, I do enjoy the Barbie movies. They're not among my favourite movies but they all have their certain charms. Barbie Presents Thumbelina is not a movie I deem perfect, as much as I did admire the environmental message it did at times come across as too preachy, the dialogue is stilted and while I wouldn't call the characters annoying as such there have been more likable and less standard(in the types of characters that is) ones in the Barbie movies. However, despite some moments of blocky character designs(more in the human designs) the animation is bright and colourful, the music is catchy, the story, while baring little resemblance to Andersen's story, is sweet and charming with plenty of scenes to warm anybody's heart, the Twillerbabies are adorable and the voice work especially from the ever dependable Kelly Sheridan is solid. Overall, imperfect but perfectly charming. 7/10 Bethany Cox

This is one of the more contentious Barbie films, but I wouldn't call it bad. It's a perfectly serviceable movie, with decent animation and music, some fun characters, and a good message.
The problem here is that it's just not a Barbie movie. Barbie is only in it for about three minutes, and if you removed her entirely, nothing about the film would change. It feels more like an original film that Barbie was added to to boost sales or something. It also has very little to do with the actual fairy tale of Thumbelina. Change the main character's name to Camellia or something and it could easily pass as an original film.
I wouldn't recommend it to Barbie enthusiasts, but for parents whose kids like fairies, flowers, and nature, give it a try.

I agree with the other person's review saying it's not really a Barbie movie. More like an original movie where the main fairy is just named "Thumbelina". The message is very positive and it's a cute story. Outfits and animation are cute. But that's the most I can really say about it.
The characters don't have as much depth or color of personality as some of the classic barbie movies. The story doesn't even star Barbie (or a Barbie look a like which ever lore you subscribe to) as is tradition.
Although I enjoyed aspects of it I was glad when this is done so I can move on to other barbie movies (watching them all in order).
Would recommend for small children who like flowers, fairies, and baby fairies.

Barbie is a teacher and going Green (spoiler alert!),
This is the latest title in my 5 years old daughter movie collection. She loved the movie. The animation is not like in a Disney or Pixar movie, but it is much improved from the previous Barbie movies. She liked the idea that Barbie is a teacher and liked the theme of protecting the environment. She is all into it and I think that is a much better role model for small girls (unfortunatelly, I think that boys will skip this movie).
Summary: it is introduced a new species of magical creatures: the Twillerbees, hidden among the wildflowers, threatened to be destroyed by new construction developments. The bravest of them is Thumbelina, who will have the help of a young girl named Makena. Everything is narrated to young kids by Barbie, who is a teacher.
Thanks

An absolute fever dream in a good way. One of my staple movies when i was a little kid. Also has a good environmental message for kids.

Overalll as a stand-alone movie I think it is good but I don't consider it a Barbie movie. I love the message of the environment and how a little person can make a difference
