Blackout

Two political advisors (Wagner Moura and Augusto Madeira) hide themselves from view inside this secret room in the corridors of power to relax, smoke some joint and have some quality time while avoiding work on a less busy day. Problem is that they cannot escape problem since there's an elephant in the room that can define their future in politics: one of them work for a Senator who is involved in two scandals (one involving accepting bribes and the other is a sex scandal with a governor's wife). As their talks and revelation progress through the lonely afternoon, a strange dangerous event will shake things up as they find out they are locked inside this room.

"Blackout" is a dark humored story about the behind the scenes of the political world (Brasília at its worst) and how the people behind the political machine can get easily involved in scandals and controversy, and to get away from it all it's a matter of skills and run against the clock. The technical aspect that conquers our attention early on is that it's all filmed in one take through the majority of the duo's conversation until a sudden and tense event change things for them. Moura and Madeira are quite comfortable in their roles, going from countless comedic moments until some twists and turns change the whole dynamic inside the room. It's a very involving short film. 8/10.
