A Night at the Silent Movie Theater

The one big thing I would change about this movie is that I would have included more songs from the band, not just the one at the end. I think that would have drawn more attention to the comedy of errors element of the film: while no doubt talented enough to warrant continuing having at it, they really were just having every bit of bad luck imaginable.

As is though, this is a perfectly passable low budget comedy. Some of the jokes aren't really as fleshed out as they could have been, but they land more often than they don't. The cast all works as well as they should.

Occasionally this does feel like a bit of a Star Trek reunion comedy because, while not really about Star Trek or even in a similar vein, it does have a few actors from the show. I liked this element of it and, if I'm completely honest, it's why I wanted to see it in the first place.

This is why I'm a little bit surprised that more people haven't already seen it. It feels like it'd make intuitive sense that there'd be a certain subset of hardcore Trekkies who'd be like, "Oh yeah, A Night at the Silent Movie Theater is halfway down the iceberg for us." The Trek alumni who are in this are generally pretty well liked in their Star Trek roles, after all.

Still, as is, this is a pretty good comedy. It's just a shame that it's never found the audience that I feel it deserves.
