Avis à la une
I found this short film to be a bit difficult to follow, really.
While I agree with the previous post with regard to this film containing less debauchery than most, the attempt toward positivity was a relief. At the same time, I tried to piece together the overall point and found that I disliked how the parallel mini stories involved failed to produce a desired result and left the viewer, sort of, left sitting there feeling like they had just watched a commercial that failed to request at the end, that we donate 22 dollars a month to help save a cancer victim.
I want to note I found the professors acting ability lessened the overall quality of the movie. I also did not see what the one story of the professor with the student had to do with the other aspect of this short film.
Sure the music was fair enough, and it was lighthearted, but to this viewer this independent film left a lot to be said.

This film was a nice change of pace for IMDb. I have reviewed hundreds of independent shorts and all too often, they are designed for a very adult audience, as the films are filled with graphic violence and tons of harsh language. Now I am NOT saying that there is no place for some of this, but all too often, the films I have reviewed take the coarse approach. Thank goodness for something that is more uplifting and positive.
While DOUBT looks more like an incomplete film, it has many wonderful moments. Seeing the family struggling with their child's cancer, the family struggling with infertility, etc.--these are all very powerful moments and they were very touching. Too bad, however, the film wasn't longer and enabled the individual tales to be hashed out in a more complete fashion--particularly the one with the professor and the student, as it looked too incomplete. Still, the director and actors had deft touches and I was impressed.
By the way, in a not so subtle move, the professor is named "Dr. Sheol"--Sheol is the word from the Old Testament for the place where the dead await final judgment.
