Épisode #2.1

This can't hold a candle to the show featuring the mature Wallander. But the plot is intriguing as he gets back on the horse, investigating a gruesome hit and run. But the main thing is that the principle characters are related to a horrible crime involving children, the first case of the former lead detective. Of course, as is often the case, the new guy is unreasonable and short sighted and bound by politics, So you can go after the bad guys, but you need to kiss the butt of your superior. The show is decent but it's hard to believe that this guy would morph into the older, more serious character.

Just finished watching season 2 so writing this quickly to give those of you contemplating watching it a heads up. A lot of reviewers have given season 2 a bit of a panning but I think it's fine and compares well with season 1.

I agree with others that it probably would have been better filmed in Swedish given that it's located in Sweden but the main issue is that it isn't faithful to a young Wallander at all in that it's shot in the wrong timeframe. If only they'd followed the excellent example set by Endeavour it would have been so much better imo.

That said, good cast and acting, good plot and a good watch overall.

A good start to season two, bring back the main cast and getting the main story going early one. Only a few tendrils dragged over from S1 but they move on pretty quickly.
