I Survived a Crime

There are too many dumb individuals in this show which creates apathy. Examples include a woman who just withdrew $75,000 in cash from a bank and is so unaware of her surroundings it's hard to feel bad for her, a couple who doesn't lock their front door, and a woman who doesn't look both ways before crossing the street.

The worst part of this show however is the interviews with the individuals who experienced these events. The last 3 minutes of every episode is unwatchable and doesn't add anything of value. The CC camera footage parts are great, but the host is brutal and nobody cares about the interview after.

If they were smart they would interview the idiots who committed these crimes because that would be worth watching. I'd be more interested in their mindset than the mindset of a person going into survival mode, the majority of which are just stupid individuals.

It's got a trashy appeal and but there are YouTube true crime channels with editing and professionalism that would blow this garbage out of the water. That's not my main gripe, though. It's how this show overwhelming portrays black or other POC suspects. For every white suspect, there will be 3-5 segments with a POC. What is this, "COPS?" They also make the perplexing decision to show the suspects charges and sentence, if available. Having this information on the screen just highlights a further disconnect between what sentences white suspects get versus literally everyone else. In a single episode, they showcase a black man who was convicted of vehicular hit-and-run who gets 5 years. The very next segment is a white, middle class man viciously assaulting his wife (resulting in lifetime disability, pain and trauma) and he only gets 3 years, 2 of which were suspended. I get it, they're different states, different histories with law enforcement, and all the other stuff bootlickers say. I'm just wondering why they thought presenting this information side-by-side wouldn't raise some eyebrows.

Do you own what ever generic editing software that came with your computer? Do you know how to google stock footage? Did you take any 101 journalism class at a community college? Then you too could produce a crappy Facebook streaming style clip compilation show! Seriously this show is just awful. Everything about seems like it was made on iMovie not even iMovie pro. Crappy "grainy" filters put on every viral video to the point where just googling the videos yourself would be better. The natural disaster shows that used to air on Spike TV back in the 90's from VHS tapes had better quality. The host's dialog is strained and clunky. The video interviews he does with survivors is wickedly cringy. If you're going to waste any portion of your life mindlessly viewing viral crime clips just do it on IG or Facebook and save yourself from this eyesore.

A great aspect of this show is that all of the crimes detailed have live footage to back up and don't rely on re-enactments. Some of the videos are quite wild and astounding. The formula for each episode is mostly filler though sometimes good interviews of first hand accounts. Each video is replayed and rewound about ten times which can be annoying. Could definitely fit more clips into each episode.

Now this section is dedicated to IMDb. I'm making this a very, very, very, very long review because of the new rule established for review character length, courtesy of the IMDb staff. I'm glad to report that you can absolutely trust that this review is credible and relevant based solely on the fact that it contains at least 600 characters.

The producers obviously went out of their way to get a certain demographic of criminal and victim which strongly goes against reality. This show is lame and a waste of time. If you want to see the reality of crime, go on YouTube and watch the 'active self protection' channel hosted by John Correia. The content is not filtered in any way and simply shows what's happening around the world. To see the graphic videos you must have a YouTube account and be logged in as they often show graphic content. The purpose of the channel is to analyze and review the actions of the victims and point out possible ways that the victims could have minimized their danger.
