(a review of "Hulk vs. Wolverine")

It's like a 13 year old boy's dream come true.

Except I'm 26 and probably enjoyed this movie even more so. It easily and confidently outdoes both the (imo) lacklustre "X-men" and "Hulk" movie franchise in a decent half an hour runtime, and the end result is truly jaw-dropping at times.

Production values are sky-high, with the animation surpassing even the original 90's "X-men" cartoon series, while the shere style, atmosphere and boldness are pure perfection. And kudos to the musical score for taking a life of its own and sounding like something most contemporary big-budget composers would be proud to call their own work...yes, this movie delivers BIG-TIME!

The story is simple but effective, and the ending fits in perfectly. To me this was like a piece of "The Animatrix" in the Marvel universe, and I absolutely loved it for that...it just feels so permanent and despite being short it's still powerful and makes you believe like it belongs to a bigger picture.

I can only hope to see more of This bigger picture, Marvel has truly outdone itself!

Let's be clear Hulk Vs is not a movie, it's a compilatation of two marvel shorts one being Hulk vs Thor and the other Hulk vs Wolverine.

Both shorts are relatively well made, the first involving Loki controlling the Hulk in order to defeat Thor and crush Asgard which is decent enough and family friendly.

Hulk vs Wolverine see's Logan sent in to take on the monster that has destroyed a town but there is more to the tale and we'll see Sabretooth, Deadpool, Lady Deathstrike & Omega Red join the fight. This one was surprisingly gory by comparison.

Both are passable but nothing to get excited about. An actual movie featuring all these characters would have made more sense.

"Hulk Vs" is really two shorter films combined, "Hulk Vs Wolverine" and "Hulk Vs Thor", complete with their own titles and credits. However, both movies share many thing in common between each other, and with most of the direct-to video animated films that have been produced by Marvel Animation and Lionsgate (Tough, to be fair, I think that the two movies included in Hulk Vs are slightly better) Both movies were funny to watch, and both have some interesting elements concerning the plot and characters...However, as the title suggest, both films are more focused in the action, so those good and complex elements aren't very well developed or just got a shallow treatment. (For example, in both films Bruce Banner is just a wimp, playing a secondary role in the two stories, specially in "Hulk Vs Wolverine") In both films, the animation is decent without being incredible. The influence of the visual style from the animator Bruce Timm is quite clear in the designs from "Hulk Vs" (And in "Planet Hulk" as well) being more fluid and dynamic than the animated series made by the Marvel in the nineties(Where the animation was notoriously uneven.) The voice acting, just like the story and the animation is good: It wasn't anything memorable or outstanding, but at least all the voices worked very well for the characters. The music, in other side, is quite generic and forgettable.

Anyway, I think that "Hulk Vs" delivered exactly what it promised, and even when neither of two movies included here were masterpieces, at least were funny and enjoyable enough to be worth-watching.

The two films got a 7 out 10 stars from me.

Just read that someone thought that Hulk vs Thor was the better one from the two. I respectfully disagree, and why?

Hulk vs Wolverine shows us what and who Wolverine ACTUALLY and REALLY is, a killer!!! And I think that's what everyone has forgotten after seeing Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine so many times. (for the record, I like Hugh Jackman very much)

When I heard off the Hulk fighting Wolverine, I thought to myself how in the hell is Wolverine going to fight the Hulk. Again we forgot that Wolverine is actually a small little guy but that he is incredibly fast!! And that His Adamantium claws can cut true EVERYTHING, plus that he is not afraid to use them!!!!

And again I say that's what Hulk vs Wolverine showed us, because he uses his claws against ANYONE who stands in his way.

I actually didn't review the movies by saying this...But you must have noticed by now that I liked Hulk vs Wolverine very much.

As for Hulk vs Thor, I also liked that one very much! Its more about honor and stuff like that. Less bloody but indeed some more action all involving the Hulk! Thor as well as The Hulk get their asses kicked.

I give them both a 9 out of 10 Enjoyed them both very much! (like I always write) sorry for any misspells, Im dutch :)

whats more to say about this. normally these marvel cartoons are too kiddy-fied for the kids, but these cartoons are something special especially the Hulk Vs Wolverine film. You get to see everything in here, blood, limbs being sliced off etc. By far this is the most entertaining cartoon to watch and due to its more mature content the grown-ups will enjoy it too.

The Hulk vs Thor is in my opinion not as good or as violent as the Hulk vs Wolverine cartoon but its still worth watching to get to know more about the characters on Thor's side of the Marvel universe.

Lenght of the cartoons may be short at 40 mins each but these are all out action packed with less talk and more smashing.

The DVD has two relatively short stories, Hulk vs Thor & Hulk Vs Wolverine. Hulk vs Thor is the best of the two & the action is off the charts. The story is well conceived & well executed & the animation is good (not great but good). I'd give a brief synopsis of Hulk vs Thor but I'm afraid it would give to much of the plot away.

Hulk Vs Wolverine,is also pretty good in its' own right, but the fight scenes between Hulk & Wolverine aren't nearly as extensive as in Hulk vs Thor. And much of the story has to do more with Wolverine, his past & all the troubles that come with it (meaning SaberTooth, Lady DeathStrike, etc..). The ending is quite inconclusive & kind of a disappointment. And in case anybody is thinking "kiddie cartoon", guess again! It's got plenty of blood & violence to warrant it's PG-13 rating. Definitely one for the fans.

Hulk vs comprises of two "epic" battles (and I use quotes lightly and meaningfully) as he faces off with Wolverine and Thor, two other Marvel comics staples that he's faced off against many times - indeed the introduction to Wolverine was in a Hulk comic by Len Wein - and what happens when SMASH! becomes the proverbial name of the game here. But there is and there isn't so much smashing all the time. This may be good in some cases, but when the cover emphasis such a SMASH EVERYTHING IN SIGHT thing with the Hulk, it becomes a minor let-down when the Hulk and Wolverine only face off for about, oh, ten minutes out of the relatively short 36 minute running time, and while there is much more Hulk SMASH in the Thor movie, it also isn't as much fun as Wolverine really is.

Why is this? One thing that Wolverine gets right, and it's fascinating to see the short animated film get this right and not at ALL in the theatrical 2009 feature, is Deadpool. He's introduced here as being apart of the Weapon X program, and as the '(Mercenary) with the Mouth', he's awesome here. He's witty and sarcastic and kinda mean but in a fun killer way (kinda like one of the Warner brothers from Animaniacs or something, I got a Yakko vibe off him), and whenever he's on screen he steals the show even away from someone like Wolverine who as animated here can hold his ground too. The basic idea is that Wolverine is brought to the woods to stop a "monster" from tearing stuff up, sees Bruce Banner, he hulks out, they fight a little... and then it goes into this Weapon X sub-plot, more about Wolverine's origin (sort of) and other things, and while Deadpool made it better and it became more entertaining, the Royal-Rumble aspect seemed lacking until near the latter part of the short.

The Thor short is a little more clever in its set-up: here, Loki, Thor's nasty younger and jealous brother, brings Bruce Banner to Asgard for an express purpose, to have him Hulk-out and kick Thor's ass while under his control (he has some kind of magical power to do this, don't ask me why). There is an odd-sorta-interesting twist that didn't make a lot of sense (then again I've yet to read a lot of Hulk comics) where Banner is actually pulled out of the Hulk's body with magic once he turns into the Hulk and then watches with horror as the Hulk (un, not Banner-Hulk, just Hulk-Hulk) not only tries (but obviously doesn't) kick Thor's ass into oblivion, but Asgard as well.

I did like that aspect about Hulk being let loose by Loki's incompetence and arrogance and that Thor was the only one to stop him, but it also doesn't make for a lot of fun as everything is taken so seriously. Some of the animation in this segment is also better than in Wolverine, so there is that. Bottom line, for Hulk/Wolverine/Thor fans, there's a little of something here for you all, and for the Hulk/Thor combo there's a lot of action and destruction - almost too much, but where would Hulk be without being such a destroyer of things - but each film also suffers from some problems. So it's worth checking out, and since it's on video only there's no other way to really see it, but unless one's a die-hard or starting to really get into Marvel animated work (and to be fair they're underrated up against work by DC animated) it's not worth rushing immediately to see.

I never liked the Hulk with green hair but that doesn't really hurt these stories. I also don't really care for Thor or Wolverine but I was somehow able to maintain interest through both movies. I do have a minor issue with the Thor movie. I am willing to accept that Hulk and Banner can be separated even though it doesn't make any sense but it's unacceptable that they would both have pants. I think the best thing about these movies is that they are short so there's not enough time to get bored. Marvel should try to make everything shorter.

I really enjoyed Hulk Versus Wolverine. This pre X-Men Wolverine is the Wolverine I love. I've used this colloquialism before but "X marks the spot" and there are plenty of big action scenes throughout this amazing animated movie that it has to be called spectacular. Wolverine goes ballistic in a good way and the introduction of Omega Red, Deathstrike and Deadpool makes for an intriguing watch. It's action with a nice mix of smarts and fun. We FINALLY get to see Wolverine draw blood in animated form. I was so tired of him tying in to robots and walls. Some of this stuff is right out of the comics. Adherence to the source material, whenever possible, works well in this case. It more then works as a movie.

Hulk Versus Thor was pretty good even though I feel they made the Hulk too strong in that film. Asgardians like Hogun and Balder shouldn't be treated like tissue paper. It's Hulk Versus Wolverine that's the real treat. Simply Superb.

I am not going to deal with the plot as that has been discussed by others. This is probably the first time outside of the comic books that The Hulk is portrayed as a savage, murderous, out of control monster. The fight scenes in both movies are outstanding and very violent. The voice acting is tremendous with Graham McTavish stealing the show as Loki. My main criticism is the horribly angular style of animation, popularised in the Warner Brothers Batman cartoons, of the Hulk vs Thor film. The animation in both movies is below par, it has a cheap, low rent feel in stark contract to the outstanding Dr Strange and Iron Man cartoons.

The Incredible Hulk is pretty much a walking plot device. You plonk him down in some place you want totaled and sit back and watch the destruction ensue from the safety of your underground lair. The Hulk has no character in the same way that a nuclear explosion has no character. It exists only as a spectacle, and to make the lives of everyone and everything in a five mile radius considerably less pleasant. The reason why this movie is as good as it is is simply because it seems to understand this, and you can just feel Loki's gratification at watching his handiwork unfold through his scrying glass. 'Hulk Vs.' exists purely to show you something awesome and things that have a single purpose are remarkably strong and flexible.

Consequently, there is little plot save for 'the Hulk goes to Asgard/the Weapon-X compound and breaks things; mostly living things'. While in a regular film I would welcome the addition of Dr. Bruce Banner as the human element to balance out the sheer rage and destruction of the Hulk, here he wasn't really needed beyond setting the scene or getting the Hulk pulled out of him and let loose, and any later scenes involving him could have just as easily made way for a bit more Hulk Smash, even if they broke up the continuous action somewhat. The premise of these movies is so paper thin that it doesn't need a Bruce Banner introspective and should just focus on the battle at hand, which is one of the several reasons why Hulk vs. Wolverine is better (and arguably, shorter) than Hulk vs. Thor. However, I will say that both parts were needed to create something that was roughly feature-length. Both 'films' are short, which means they don't outstay their welcome. It keeps the action entertaining without being overwhelming. I would advise against watching them back to back though.

The sheer lack of anything approaching an engaging story or plot means that previous knowledge of the Marvel-verse (which in my case is almost nonexistent) is not required, allowing you to jump right into it and enjoying the sprays of viscera splattering off Wolverine's claws, or the blunt saucepan-like din of Thor's hammer careening off of the Hulk's flattened cheekbone, although being a fan would certainly help the enjoyment.

Another reason why I prefer Wolverine's part to that of Thor is because Wolverine is like the Hulk in many ways. He's also a stony faced brute wearing a perpetual scowl and a five-o'clock shade, but at least his one-liners are a joy to behold, mostly. Wolverine and, by extension, the X-Men, is one of the few Marvel characters I know reasonably well, probably because there are so many books he appears in (or on), and despite being a tiresome marketing gimmick to many fans he's never quite bored me. Maybe that's because pretty much everything he does is awesome. His part was better paced, better animated, and better written as well with much better side characters, for what little writing was involved in the creation of this hammy spectacle. As far as hammy spectacle goes, though, it won't get much better than this. 3 stars.

"Wolverine vs. Hulk" deals with the popular Canadian superhero mutant with the Adamantium claws known only as Wolverine as he is down in Canada tracking down a huge destructive creature. He discovers Bruce Banner who's alter-ego is reveled for Wolverine battles with the unstoppable monster but after that both get kidnapped by a mad professor with Sabretooth and friends for experimentation but can they both struggle to escape? "Thor vs. Hulk" is about Bruce Banner kidnapped from Earth by Loki as the diabolical fiend wants to use his alter ego as a weapon to destroy his half-brother the mighty god Thor. Loki separates Banner from Hulk as the monster goes on a rampage through Asguard and an epic battle between god and monster begins.

An outstanding and wonderfully animated action-packed double feature of a flick that truly satisfies Marvel fans. The "Wolverine" story is the most action packed and bloodiest of the two stories yet gory for a PG-13 rated movie, now "Thor" is a fantasy epic tale that has the mighty god of thunder reintroduced in animation in a cool new way. The film is too violent and intense for younger kids but older kids, teens and adults would enjoy watching this terrific animated romp even hardcore Marvel fanatics will have a blast with this roller-coaster ride of excitement.

A must see!

This is the double feature of Marvel's animated features where we get to see the epic Hulk's battles between Thor and Wolverine. It was immediately followed in the franchise by Planet Hulk, which its and Hulk vs. Thor's stories had been used for Thor Ragnarok. These animated features had those stories as separate and the MCU had them together with more of a focus on Thor. I find it is good to watch all these different takes of the characters to get a better sense of who they are. Now with the multiverse, it could be good to watch anything Marvel as anybody could return. Now for more of what I think of these.

Hulk Vs. Thor: I like the story on Asgard. It gives more of a sense of Asgard than in the MCU. The MCU has Thor going to Earth for certain adventures and even Sakaar in Ragnarok than staying on his home planet all the time.

Hulk Vs. Wolverine: I like that it shows more of what Weapon X is but I felt like the ending went by too quickly. Not focus on it for barely a minute and it's done.

I was doubtful of the quality of this new marvel animated movies,(just a thought... Wolverine movie hype) but i'm glad i was so wrong. This is a really epic animation, Lionsgate really nailed this time. Adapting the old comics to this new times, with a respectful script for the fans, super-b music, sound effects and animation quality.

First: Vs. Wolverine, Hulk has been tearing a line across the Canadian countryside, leaving a swath of destruction in his wake. He has to be stopped, and there's only one man up to the job. He's the best there is at what he does, but what he does isn't very nice. He's Wolverine, an elite agent of Canada's top secret Department H, and he's been put on Hulk's trail with a single objective: stop the green Goliath...at all costs. Hulk and Wolverine are about to enter the fiercest battle of their lives.

Second Part: Vs. Thor: Asgard, realm of the gods. For ages, Loki the trickster has sought a way to bring defeat to his accursed stepbrother, Thor. But for all the battles Thor has fought, in all the nine realms, only one creature has ever been able to match his strength - a mortal beast of Midgard known as The Incredible Hulk. Now, with Odin, the almighty king of the gods, deep in a regenerative sleep, and the forces protecting Asgard at their weakest, Loki is finally ready to spring his trap. In an epic battle that will pit gods against monsters, that will test a hero's limits more than ever before, only The Mighty Thor can hope to prevail.

This is really close to be the best marvel cartoon ever made along side with Dr.Strange. If you are a true fan of marvel comics, please don't miss the chance to see this movie duo.

Everyone's favorite rampaging green goliath has a nasty a habit of finding a way to get himself in more movies than I can count, be it animated or live-action. Seriously, when you really think about it, he's everywhere! The filmmakers of these animated Marvel films seem to have a soft spot for Hulk, which is probably one of the reasons why they decided to make this unique treat, a pair of short animated films pitting ol' Jade Jaws against two of the most iconic superheroes of all time, the mighty Thor and the uncanny Wolverine. Rather than just making it just a simple brawl between Hulk and some interchangeable hero, some genuine effort was put into the stories and themes to make both films stand apart from one another and they managed to succeed in that.

In "Hulk vs Thor", Loki the mischief god manages to separate Bruce Banner from his monstrous alter ego and control the Hulk in order to take on the thunder god Thor while Asgard is at its weakest. As they do battle, neither of them could imagine the grave consequences as the monster breaks free and plunges Asgard into utter chaos, forcing Thor to find a way to reunite Bruce and the Hulk back together. In "Hulk vs Wolverine", the titular mutant is sent in to stop the Hulk in the Canadian wilderness after a small town was destroyed. The vicious, regenerating berserkers exchange blow after deadly blow only to find themselves in the clutches of the notorious Weapon X Program. Now Wolverine and Hulk must choose the best course of action to escape or else they'll become mindless weapons of mass destruction.

Every aspect of these two flicks feels different. As the title promises, there's lots of incredible actions scenes with "Hulk vs Thor" giving the action a grand scale with many famous residents of the Nine Realms desperately fighting this unstoppable rage incarnate while "Hulk vs Wolverine" delivers action that is intense, savage, and downright bloody (seriously, quite a few gallons are spilled) as combatants literally try to tear each other apart. The tones/places are also noticeably distinct, with Asgard being huge, having complex structures and this warm, divine feel while the wilderness and Weapon X's base are cold, barren, and unforgiving. The tones/places perfectly reflect the unfaltering nobility of Thor and the tortured solitude of Wolverine, which is interestingly paralleled to Bruce and Hulk. The side characters and villains are wonderfully realized from the fun dynamic of the Warriors Three to the sinister nature of Loki/Weapon X Professor. One guy that stands out the most is Deadpool, who is absolutely hilarious and nailed perfectly.

The voice acting is pitch perfect with actors such as Steve Blum, Nolan North, and Fred Tatasciore pretty much becoming their characters. The music is also good from the choir of Thor's theme to the edgy music that plays in the Weapon X facility. The art style and animation are fluid and beautiful to look at and the sound effects are impressive, every bone-crunching bit of it. My issues with both films are minor, largely consisting of Hulk's lack of dialogue in the Thor movie (his constant roaring can grow tiring) and that Wolverine's relationship/dynamic with Bruce/Hulk may not have been explored enough.

"Hulk vs Thor/Wolverine" is a must see for comic book fans and casual moviegoers may also find some enjoyment out of this epic superhero slug-fest.

This movie is one of the best Hulk movies there is. It's very rare that I would rate a movie 10/10, and technically this movie was a 9.7 to me, and thats closer to 10/10 than it is to 9/10 I guess.

Rarely, does a movie do as well as its literary counterpart, and this one certainly did.

As mentioned, it was split into two story lines. Hulk vs Wolverine and Hulk vs Thor.

"Hulk vs Wolverine" This had more violence and action in it. What the Hulk Movie in 2008 lacked, this movie delivered. Hulk did not hold back, and his wrath was unleashed in this one. Oh he was brutal in all his glory. This is a must-watch for Hulk fans and just about everyone else. And for those who wonder who may be the winner in such an epic battle.. this one answers it in its own cryptic way.

"Hulk vs Thor" This part required a little background knowledge about Bruce Banner and Hulk, as well as Bruce's love for Betty Ross. Hulk vs Thor had a beautiful storyline. It shows that one does not need to have superpowers to be a hero and that the trait of a true hero is courage, bravery and sacrifice. To avoid spoilers, I can only say Bruce Banner sacrificed a little piece of heaven for eternal torment. And we come to realize, that even being revered as a hero, he was just a simple man who wanted to be with someone he loved. He may not be gifted with physical or mental strength, but he tries his darndest.

As I mentioned before, I gave this a 9.7/10, and the only flaw of this seemingly flawless film, was that they didn't go in-depth on Bruce's anger, slowly building up to reach Hulk's wrath. And when he did became the Hulk, the anger expressed was merely superficial (anger from being attacked etc). Unlike the comics, where his deepest, most raging anger came from torture, memories of Betty Ross and at the same time, sadness and loneliness.

Thats not to say that this movie lacked emotions and thrills. If anything, this had one of the most exciting fight scenes I've ever seen, and it certainly makes your heart pound.

I have always liked superheroes and superhero movies, so I thought to myself that Hulk vs. should be entertaining. And on the most part, it was. I didn't care much for the rather angular animation style of the Hulk vs. Thor segment(though the colours were nice and atmospheric), nor for the rather dull character of Thor. The basic stories of both segments are quite standard also, understandable considering the length but with a longer length you do wish some of the characterisations especially in the Hulk vs.Thor segment to be more developed. However, the Hulk vs. Thor segment does have its good points, Loki is wonderfully arrogant as a villain, Dr Banner's dream sequence is heart-wrenching and Dr Banner himself is a character you really identify with. The music is rousing, the action is compelling enough and the writing is good. The Hulk vs. Wolverine segment is outstanding. The animation is much smoother and more fluid, with the backgrounds detailed and beautifully realised. The music rouses and haunts when it should, the writing is sharp and the story despite the standard idea is crisply paced and compelling. Wolverine is a much stronger hero, but I remember this segment best for Deadpool, who cracks me up with his wisecracks. The only letdown to Hulk vs. Wolverine for me was its inconclusive ending. Hulk is awesome in both Hulk vs. Thor and Hulk vs. Wolverine as is the voice acting. All in all, uneven but enjoyable. 7/10 Bethany Cox

First off let me say the animation and art quality of both of these movies is pathetic in the extreme. The level of work that went into creating these movies is pretty low and it shows big time. Shading is sloppy, figures are unrealistic/not in perspective, bad physics, etc.. if you have ever seen some of the art in the actual comics you know what a downgrade watching these hastily made poorly drawn movies are. Then comes the dialog which is overacted and unconvincing/bad casting. Wolverine was bland, Thor was even more bland. Then take attention to storyline- most of the little details about these famous characters are left out making them all come off very bland and boring. A terrible boring script with absolutely wretched art quality- you have a double feature of stink.

I hope the trend of doing this sort of pathetic animation dies the death it deserves so we can make way for some artists with some TALENT.
