Belial

Well this short film was kind of basic and very rough around the edges, but I did appreciate how they tried to capture a little of the rough and gritty atmosphere of the movie with the locations and a little eighties film grain effects dashed in. I really liked the Belial monster prop they had, it was very faithful and even similar to the model from the original 1982 classic, the scariest one, they used it quite well and it actually gave me the creeps a couple of times!m, especially toilet scene! There was quite a few obvious cues from the Basket Case movies as well as the music and Belial's roars from the first flick, but it was all in good fun and it was joyously nuts at the end as a bunch of poor hapless flophouse residents all die at once, I just thought it was really cool to have a Basket Case fan film at all, most of the time you just get ones about Jason and Freddy, not too many of them good, but this was a pretty fun little gory time that I thought captured a little of the creepy bloody magic of Basket Case and of Belial himself of course and it's a very entertaining loving little homage. Worth watching, not too bad, happy Halloween! X.
