Wonderful show with a cast that handles the dark storyline with confidence and an easy going charm. The four leads nail their roles perfectly and capture the tone of the show perfectly. Hopefully this will be the first season of many.

I agree with the praise thus far in most of the other reviews. This fresh and relatively light take on an old genre (like not even using the "V" word) was a treat. For a change, I didn't feel there were too many episodes for the content. The ending works as a one-and-done or as the basis for more seasons - whichever way the financing wind blows. That's viewer consideration of the highest order.

But let's not overlook the role of the score. I'm usually not very conscious of that element, apart from Tarantino flicks, since he invests so heavily in beating us over the head with his playlists. Brilliantly. In this case, the background music finds the sweet spot between eerie and quirky to perfectly complement what we're seeing. Silje Katralen earned the right to take a bow for her excellent contribution as music supervisor.

A short six episode series about 'vampires' - of a modern sort - set in a small Norwegian town.

Brilliantly acted, especially the characters Judith and Odd. Post Mortem is not a standard zombie style movie. It has a suspenseful plot and a well developed storyline.

Post Mortem is a good bit of television watchable by diverse audiences.

This story is interesting, original approach about something near to vampirism, but inherited from mother. It worths watching because is a short series and will not get your time so much.

This is a very competent collection of eight episodes relating the story of a young adult female whose untimely death at the hands of an as-yet-unknown assailant proves to be anything but usual. Subplot lines were evenly distributed among secondary and tertiary characters. Some slapstick comedy is sprinkled in to liven the mood.

I genuinely expected for the series to go stale after only the first two or three episodes; after all, there's only so much that can be done with the zombie theme without hordes of the undead consuming fleeing pockets of the human population. If it's not all action than it had better be one part action-drama, two-parts special effects! This novel combination works too, but it calls for a bit more time investment. Trust me, the payoff is well worth the wait. And despite the thriller branding, it's basically a mystery comedy-drama.

Nowadays if any producer wanna make his vampire series or movies stand out from the crowd, he really needa think out of the box with something we audiences've never thought of. Examples like The String, From Dusk til Dawn series (both the movie and TV) and the recent Blood Red Sky. Without further ado, Post Mortem is certainly a good example of the genre: a funeral agency in debt and a not-so-blood-sucking vampire. To make it straight to you, it don't even think she is a vampire at all. She is more like a poor victim of bloodthirsty tackling her ordeal.

First thing first, any sci-fi element in the series has been carefully removed so that it wont be another sort of sci-fi V-War. The main actress has been carefully chosen so that she doesnt look like another eyecatching Vampiria. In fact she gives me an impression of a neighbouring girl n her acting is simply flawless. Look at her facial expression and body language as an blood-addict!!! The whole story is thus framed into the interaction of the girl and her declining family business of funeral agency. A funeral agency which is about to go bankruptcy, ah, kinda new inspiring idea.

What comes next is the dark humour that we can see in every episode. For humour it means its not for everyone coz we could have very different cultural background. To me Nordic noir is something not seen everyday. So. I buy it for sure!

Scandinavian dark humour could be fun, as long as you could keep up with the pace...... which is the rub. But we ve got choices.

This series would be your cup of tea/coffee if u r a vampire genre fan n u r dying for something different. But here is the catch: every element is minimalistic in the series. If the first 2 episodes can't impress u or make u smile once or twice, then u should better knock it off.

Its a gritty dark comedy with drama and very interesting story line. If you can get through the holes in the story you will really like the characters. Because its only 6 episodes its quick and gets to the point. My favorite character is Odd.

This dry slice of Norweigan urban horror took me completely by surprise and I rather got on with it. Assuming it at first to be a standard Scandi-noir it takes a fantastic turn and gets seriously dark, ludicrously tense and utterly engaging. It does move rather glacially at times and feels rather open ended but I was a huge fan of the character stuff - the determined police chief, the hapless but glorious Odd and the sinister doctor. Hopefully this gets a little more, but certainly worth a look if you've passed it by or want to have a little bloody taster of Norwegian TV.

This has the right mix of ingredients. I don't really like comedy where people try to crack jokes every second. On the other hand I don't like shows that get too doom and gloom.

This series strikes a pretty good balance I think. It has elements of Nordic noire and even some hints of horror movies. Yet there is also comedy. More the subtle kind. Not where people are making obvious jokes but more about the absurdity of a lot of the situations the main characters get themselves into.

I would say this is a pretty good example of Norwegian humor, which can often be both sardonic, self deprecating and surreal.

The punchline "No One Dies in Skarnes" comes from the fact that one of the main characters runs a funeral service, but is in deep financial trouble because seemingly nobody ever dies in Skarnes. A kind of reflection of the fact that Skarnes is a small idyllic Norwegian town without any serious crimes, accidents etc.

Then all this gets turned on its head with the first apparent death in a long time. It reminds me a little bit about Pulp fiction in how main characters discuss very mundane things in the midst of a rather extreme situation.

Once you get what is going on there isn't really a lot of surprising twists. But the series isn't lesser for that reason in my opinion. The fun watching is often simply in seeing how the characters will deal with the utterly bizarre situations they find themselves in.

Season 1 really piqued my interest. A tad slow at times, but never for too long. Quirky! Lends a very human face to monsters and humans alike. Absolutely no plot holes that I can think of. Well thought out, enacted, and shot. Why isn't it more than a 7? I'm not sure whether the story is going. I enjoyed following the twists and turns, however.

I'm shocked none of the reviews called it a slow burn, because that's the nice way of saying boring. The acting, direction, writing, are all adequate. But everything is the same -- same lighting, same camera angles, same understated tone. You could switch out any actor for a different actor and it would make no difference, you could move actors around like a shell game and it would make no difference, it's just all bland.

I loved it. Is it super innovative? No. Was it kind of predictabe? Yes. Is that a bad thing? Not at all. This show's concept has been done before, but this show tried to perfect it and it delivered something lovely.

The comedy side of it is subtle. It doesn't make you laugh out loud, but the series doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a different kind of humor from the over-the-top kind of humor that American shows can have.

I liked the pacing. Finally a show that's not flashing guns and explosions and twists and drama every 5 minutes. It wasn't slow either, plenty of progress every episode.

And the show even had many likable characters.

Although I'm really thankful that it didn't end on a horrible cliffhanger, I'm really hoping it gets to continue in a second season.

1st off I have to address the negative way off base critics. This is a comedy horror and its absolutely brilliant. Phenomenal story ,a great twist on a old story, we loved everything about it, heck even the dubbed version is done great. How anyone with ANY sense of humor could give this other than an 8 is PREPOSTEROUS. Great cast, excellent all around PLEASE SERIES GODS BRING US SEASON 2!!! Also it gets better every episide. A SOLID 10!!

The actors where almost there, the script Washington almost there, most of it felt almost. I thought Zwart could havet given this a bit more. Ending was also a bit fast, forced. So it's just halfway there for me. Still, as a Norwegian, it's refreshing to see Norwegian shows get picked up by Netflix.

Beautifully filmed, written and acted Norwegian TV series. So fun and easy to watch. I hope there will be a second season. Well done Norwagians!!

Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes: Horror, (sort of Nordic Noir) and Black Comedy merge in this tale of small town Norwegian life. A woman is found dead in a field but comes back to life on the autopsy table. Soon she has strange thirsts, yes, she's a vampire. Some in the town know whats really going on, a mystery that dates back to her mother's death decades ago. There's also the family undertaker business which is going under as not enough corpses are going underground. A gritty dark thriller leavened y gallows humour and the keystone antics of the local cops. Directed by Harald Zwart and Petter Holmsen, written by Holmsen, Sofia Lersol Lund and Øyvind Rune Stålen. On Netflix. 8/10.

I first rated this a 9 before I'd seen all 6 episodes, but I revised it to a 10.

The characters are all quirky and fun, the story is engaging, and the sister-brother interaction and love is just wonderful. I love it so much I want to see a second season. It's too good to limit it to one. With this kind of writing and acting, we need a lot more.

I've tried some European TV shows lately, one from Iceland and now this. Both portrayed the police this way, not giving half a f-- when something strange happened right in front of their eyes. I really am starting to think this is a factual portrayal. Of course, it could be because the writers, producers and directors are all idiots. I mean, mentioning the police was just an entry point. The fact is, most characters in both shows act and react illogically to the situations around them. They act and react according to where the writers want the story to go to, without giving a sh-- about whether it's natural or not. And the producers and directors agreed to it.

Some examples, without giving any spoiler for people who want to give this a chance: 1. You go to a place to find some kind of explanation to an incident happening to you earlier. Keep in mind that this is your intention, finding explanation. When you find exactly what you're looking for, that's what you do to it?

2. I've been thirsty before, badly dehydrated from exercise and/or work, but I don't spill my soda all over my chin and clothes. Not to mention, if I stole said soda, I would've been patient enough to not drink it right there and then at the crime scene. I would've tried to get the hell away from there as fast as I can.

3. And the police. Don't even get me started on the police.

It's too bad because this show has potential. The premise is good, the dialogues are okay, the actors perform well, the production value is good. The bad writing ruined everything.

A surprisingly excellent series with many intense AF scenes. Very well done. I watched all 6 eps in one sitting last night and I'm watching it again now. I RARELY do that--check it out!

From the very first minute interesting plot, great acting and chilly funeral environment. Strongly recommend to watch.

Was fast forwarding by episode 2, and did not bother watching the last episode. Quite boring and predictable series Notice its the same writer/director involved that did a terrible remake of the 1957 "Fjols til Fjells"/Fools in the mountain, and writing feel are more or less the same Boring and predictable.

Was it funny, no cant say i laughed once.

If you want to watch a better norwegian series, and much better writers and directors, try out "Hellfjord" from 2012.

This is a perfect 10 for me. Brilliant writing and phenomenal acting from the entire cast. Completely original and unexpected. Never seen anything remotely like it. Incredibly funny and an unbelievably diverse and creative mix of genres.

Special mention must be made of Elias Holmsen Sørensen (Odd). Incredibly talented and hysterically funny actor, but is also great with drama; what a revelation. You really feel for the poor guy in this role as the pressure keeps mounting. Hope to see him in something else soon.

Must watch in the original language (Norwegian) with subtitles. No dubbing allowed!

Nope. This series is well acted and a lot of fun. Everything is nicely understated, and the actors buy into this mindset beautifully. My only question would be, why wasn't our heroine in the opening scene burned? The killer had to know- but then we wouldn't have had a really good series.
