Opening Night of the Living Dead (2008)

Hilarious send up of Romero's Dead series has three zombies going to the movies to watch the latest zombie film but being offended by what they see on the screen. This was one of the shorts selected for the DIARY OF THE DEAD contest and I must admit that this is a lot funnier than many of the zombie comedies from the past two decades. The title and set up are quite simple but director Oxley and writer Douglas Howell do a very nice job at paying homage to the earlier films but also laying down some good laughs including a very good twist at the end. The movie also contains some decent performances, a few gory shots and a rather nice music score. Zombie fans will certainly want to check this one out especially fans of Romero's series.
