Le pied tendre

In the original graphic novel, there was a Comanche Indian character named Sam who accepts Waldo's valet into his tribe as a blood brother (the actual ceremony is not shown in the novel itself). This character is replaced in the film version by a prospector with a coonskin hat who is a caricature of Smiley Burnette, the famous Western actor, and the scenes featuring him and the valet are entirely rewritten as a result.
