Avis à la une
This is a documentary about an interesting and exceptional man who fought all his life for what he considered right.
He fought in World War II on the side of the Allies, and after that in the Croatian War of Independence, or as the Croats call it - the Homeland War.
In the film, we see how after World War II he was disillusioned with the communist regime that came to power after World War II, which was just as horrible and brutal as the Nazis.
His role in the Croatian war for independence is huge, from command to designing key military actions, he was responsible for the defense and unblocking of Dubrovnik, which was attacked by Serbia and Montenegro.
The Croatian War of Independence was fought from 1991 to 1995 between Croat forces loyal to the Government of Croatia which had declared independence from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and the Serb-controlled Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and local Serb forces.
In the film we also see how some politicians, some of whom are from the former Yugoslavia, and some foreign politicians too, who never wanted Croatia to gain independence, tried to destroy the memory of that great man. They failed.
All in all, an interesting documentary that contains both historical footage and testimonies from the Homeland War and that shows the extent of the struggle that Croatia went through to defeat the enemies that attacked it.
People like General Janko Bobetko will never be forgotten.
