Like the character 'Beyto', author Yusuf Yesilöz was born in Turkey and moved to Switzerland in 1987. Yesilöz writes all his novels in German.
Principal photography took seven weeks, including 21 days of location shooting in Switzerland, between the cities of Basel and Bern, and 10 days shooting in Turkey.
The novel 'Hochzeitsflug' ('The Wedding Flight'), the source material for the film, was first published in February 2011.
