The first attempt at producing a documentary about Francesco Carotta's research for German television was vetoed by the TV station's religious consulting department, stating that they didn't want to 'take the people's Jesus away from them'. The second attempt, this time for a feature-length documentary film produced by an Austrian company, was abandoned due to artistic differences and budgetary restraints.
