Subtle, soft and hard hitting

Panchayat is a very carefully crafted piece of work. For someone who has been in touch with the rural life, I can vouch that the whole setup seems quite natural and not at all forced. The gradually evolving chemistry between the characters lays out in front of you a beautifully woven & intricate fabric of the society, where you see the vulnerability of a common man. The occasional emotional outburst, disappointment, standing up for the other fellow and that innate innocence of every character doesn't stop short to bring out a smile on your face. On the other hand it brings to surface the subjects like class divide, dowry, gender inequality, population control, flexible morality and many such aspects. The makers looked conscious of keeping the plot and the story line tight and avoided needless stretching of subplots. One of the best webseries' produced in recent times. A must watch.

Heartfelt, kind and honest, Panchayat marks a turning point for comedy series in India

Set against a rural backdrop, Panchayat narrates the journey and events in the life of an engineering graduate, who for the lack of any better jobs takes up the position of the secretary of the village panchayat chief. What follows is Abhishek's first time encounter with the life, dialogue and people of India's other side that that takes him closer to living life.

TVF is known to take alternative stories and push them into mainstream. They did it with Kota Factory and once again they have successfully managed to create a village comedy that is devoid of forced situational comedy or harsh stereotypical jokes. The comedy and light hearted relief exists not merely in the dialogues but the characters themselves and once you start relating with them, their interaction is what drives the show forward. Chandan Roy as Vikas, and Faisal Malik as Prahlad deliver breakthrough performances with their comic timings and innocent approach to the life and troubles of Abhishek played wonderfully once again by the talented Jitendra Kumar.

The scenes and stories are wonderfully executed as most of them revolve around insignificant events that become important only when you place them in the setting and the people around them. Apart from the comedy, the story also drives Abhishek's journey from hating the village to slowly loving and accepting the people around him. Obviously, the show will return for a second season given it ends with multiple cliffhanger, but what TVF does best is making a show that remains re-watchable because even more than the script or screenplay, you fall in love with the characters that would stay in your heart long after the end credits roll.

I had always considered Indian comedy series to be a lost cause given their need for slapstick humour and no emotional storytelling. However, TVF has once again proved that they can manage to create a story and characters that would re-define Indian television even if it is through streaming services. For anyone who has been having a tough time in 2020 with all that has been going around, nothing can be a better watch than Panchayat to lift your spirits up.

Just saw all 8 episodes (+bonus episode) in a go. It was just amazing. All characters did justice to their role; I will be a bit biased for Jeetu Sir. He is awesome in this series as well. New guy Faisal (Vikas) did a phenomenal job as well. The episodes are beautifully executed n brilliantly intertwined.

Exploring Village Serenity, Simplicity: Light Comedy at its best

Amidst the busy urban life, characterized by chaos and stress, there exists an innate desire for the tranquility of rural existence, considering the peaceful life in the villages and their rich culture. Although I'm yet to embark on such a journey, my quest of village life led me to Panchayat, nestled in the heart of India.

This series gracefully unfolds introducing the protagonist's transition from the city life to the charm of village living. Panchayat adeptly captures the essence of village life, portraying the struggles of its warm-hearted inhabitants through a comedic lens. Each episode introduces new challenges and struggles, accompanied by endearing characters that wonderfully won my affection. Themes ranging from politics, hardships and career aspirations, the show beautifully illustrates the villagers' affable demeanor.

Panchayat undeniably stands out, securing a spot among my top 11 Indian web series. The second season elevates the narrative, delving deeper into emotions, friendships, and love. The cast's performance is commendable, with Jitendra Kumar's portrayal as the protagonist exuding perfection. Equally praiseworthy is Raghubir Yadav's supportive contribution.

High on Politics, Low on Humour!

One of India's most beloved shows is back with a new season and this time it takes on the world of politics and the strategies behind winning elections. The show dives deep into the political setup. The cast including Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta and Faisal Malik is in their natural and organic element as always, expressing every emotion with precision. Chandan Roy and Ashok Pathak deserve a special mention for their raw presence and authentic dialogue delivery. Durgesh Kumar and Sunita Rajwar are so effective in their roles that you instantly dislike them in every frame they appear.

As the season progresses, it tends to get caught in a loop of political rivalry subplots and overlooks a few storylines and character arcs that had the potential to be explored more. While it remains a practical and grounded take on elections and the drama that surrounds them, it also sets the stage for Season 5 but at the cost of humor, which is still present but not at the level of the previous seasons. The background music blends well, and Aasman Rootha makes you teary. Overall, the new season is a must-watch for all Panchayat fans, but there are a few aspects and subplots that feel either stretched or left incomplete. -

OVERALL 6/10.

Panchayat Season 4 - A Misstep That Lost the Heart of the Series

As someone who has loved Panchayat since its inception, Season 4 was a major disappointment. What made Panchayat special wasn't just its setting or its cast - it was the warmth, the simplicity, and the deeply satisfying feel-good experience it delivered. It was a breath of fresh air in a world oversaturated with gritty dramas and dark realism.

Season 4, however, completely loses that charm. The election result, though clearly used as a setup for the next season, was unnecessarily depressing. It felt like a betrayal to the very essence of the show. Viewers don't come to Panchayat to be reminded of real-world losses and politics - we come to escape them. We deal with disappointment, struggle, and harsh realities every single day. Panchayat was our break from all that.

This shift in tone feels forced and jarring. If realism was the goal, there are plenty of darker web series and documentaries that already serve that purpose. Panchayat stood out because it dared to be gentle, hopeful, and quietly powerful. Unfortunately, Season 4 abandoned that path in favor of drama and despair.

Unless the creators return to the roots that made Panchayat so beloved - the relatable characters, subtle humor, and heartwarming resolutions - the show risks losing the very audience that made it a cult favorite.

Why more content like this is not available on internet

This web series is unique in every way. It accurately tells the story of an average middle class engineering student who not only has to struggle for his career aspiration but also needs to support himself in the process by taking up any Job. In this case, ' secretary of a Village Panchayat '. TVF is realistic and funny in storytelling as always. People who grew up in villages will relate more to the story others will sure enjoy the village setup of the story.

Brilliant Performance And Captivating Story Line Will Make You Fall In Love With REAL India

There are two parts of India - Urban India which has kind of adapted to the western culture and Rural India which still follows the tradition, culture and authentic. If you love to watch a village story, Panchayat is the right dose of medicine for you.

Panchayat tells the story of an engineer graduate who joins a small village, Phulera, in the Bilai district of Uttar Pradesh as a secretary of a panchayat office and in the process re-discovers the grass root issues in the village like frequent power cuts, unorganized office, dowry, family planning etc. What follows next is the measure taken up by him to improve the quality of life in the village.

Created by #TVF (#PermanentRoommates, #TVFPitchers, #KotaFactory), produced by #AmazonPrimeStudio and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat absorbs you right from the very first episode when Abhishek Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar) joins the offices and begins to observe the life, habits and behavior of the village folks. Panchayat has shades of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Swades where a NRI comes back to India in search of his nanny, identifies the problem and finds the solution. The only difference is that Panchayat focuses on the granular level at the various aspect of a village life.

The direction is impressive handling many sequences with perfection. The scene where Abhishek Tripathi finds out the real mystery behind the haunted tree is hilarious, the wedding scene where the groom shows attitude at the Panchayat office, the fight between Abhishek Tripathi and his team with the local boys at the Fakauli market will bring down the house, the chemisstry between Neena Gupta and Raghuvir Yadav is outstanding. Technically, the cinematography capturing the beautiful locales of an Indian village while Art Direction is simple yet powerful. Dialogues are punching while background score goes well with all the 8 episodes.

While Panchayat will keep you on your toes, there are few insignificant scenes which I felt hampers the momentum of the web-series, especially towards the end. The web-series also shows that Abhishek Tripathi still never liked the village but had to stay back because of the reason which could have been better. Nevertheless, writing by Chandan Kumar is brilliant which should be lauded while the editing is tight.

Performances of Panchayat is the highlight of the web-series. Jithendra Kumar is complete natural as frustrated guy who is transferred from an urban city life to a remote village. However, it is Raghuvir Yadav and Neena Gupta who are just splendid to watch. Chandan Roy as Vikas and Faisal Malik as Prahlad Pandey added more weight to the film.

Panchayat, overall , has the right intention with a good social message which should be the top choice for this weekend. Splendid 4/5

Declining and mixed review

**Panchayat Series Review:**

Season 1 was excellent - entertaining, light-hearted, and genuinely funny.

Season 2 maintained a good standard, though it started shifting in tone. By Season 3, the series became just an average, one-time watch. Season 4, unfortunately, was quite disappointing for me.

Overall, I have mixed feelings about the series. It started off strong with its humorous and refreshing storytelling, but from Season 3 onward, the show began leaning more into emotional drama and serious narratives. This shift took away the charm and simplicity that made Season 1 so enjoyable. I wish the creators had stuck to the original format that made the series special in the first place.

TVF you Disappointed Us .....

A Disappointing End to a Beloved Series Panchayat has always been a show close to the hearts of many, celebrated for its simple charm, relatable characters, and a healthy dose of humor that perfectly captured the essence of rural India. However, Season 4, unfortunately, feels like a major misstep, actively ruining the very spirit that made this franchise so fabulous.

The biggest culprit here is the poor story writing. What was once a delightful slice-of-life comedy has devolved into a meandering mess with little direction or purpose. The plot feels thin and stretched, failing to deliver the engaging narratives we've come to expect. It's truly disheartening to see such a strong concept fall victim to uninspired storytelling.

Perhaps the most glaring flaw is the pathetic climax. After investing so much time in these characters and their journeys, the finale offers absolutely no payoff. It's anticlimactic and leaves you feeling utterly unsatisfied, a stark contrast to the emotional resonance of previous seasons. It feels rushed and ill-conceived, leaving a sour taste in the mouth.

Another significant issue is the almost zero humor. Panchayat's wit and gentle comedy were a cornerstone of its appeal. This season, however, is largely devoid of those laugh-out-loud moments or even the subtle chuckles that defined its earlier iterations. The situations feel forced, and the natural comedic timing that was once so effortless is conspicuously absent.

Furthermore, the season is plagued by lots of unnecessary scenes. There are countless moments that add nothing to the plot or character development, dragging down the pace and making the viewing experience tedious. It feels like filler, desperate to stretch out a thin narrative, rather than a cohesive and well-edited story.

In all, Panchayat Season 4 was a very poor experience. It's a stark reminder that even the most beloved franchises can stumble badly when the writing falters. From the makers, TVF, who have consistently delivered quality content, this season was simply not expected. It's a true shame to see a show with so much potential lose its way so dramatically. Hopefully, if there's a future, the makers can recapture the magic that once made Panchayat a must-watch.
