Lemmings 2: The Tribes

Lemmings (1991) was undoubtedly an instant classic. What made it so special besides its immediate charm was the simplicity of it all and it's that which damages Lemmings 2.

You see Lemmings had a small number of lemmings jobs through which to use in traversing the levels and thats why it worked. Lemmings 2 has considerably more, everything from glue producing lemmings to ninja lemmings to hang gliding lemmings. It took a fantastic formula and made it excessively convoluted.

Don't get me wrong Lemmings 2 is still fun and still has that fantastic charm but what they did to the concept was bizzare and in this guys opinion harmed the franchise (Though not as much as Lemmings 3D from 1995).

With goofy music, sound effects and essentially the same graphical style it's hard not to be drawn into the addictive gameplay but you'll find yourself scratching your head at turning your mouse cursor into a portable fan.

Lemmings 2 is fun, but it was ony the second game in the franchise and it already was looking like it had peaked.

Things I Learnt From This Game:

What was done to Lemmings 2 was like taking Rocket League and adding a levelling system, an advance car tuning option, weapons on your cars and Super Mario Kart like pickups.

Super lemmings were one of the most annoying things in gaming history
