Ok, don't miss this one, two hours of pure fun.
Not a second goes by without excitement.
Amazing acting. One of the best Greek movies I have ever seen.

What a waste of time after a long period of ''waiting''. A simple rip off of stories similar to stories of Tarantino and Guy Richie.
Extremely bad cast and teribble dialogues especially of the main character that looks more like failled footballer than a singer.
For some kind of reason director chooses the use inappropriate language in almost every scene that not only it is pointless but also leaves a sense that Greeks talks like that and if you own a night club its ok to talk dirty to everyone include your mother ....
Mediocre directing with ''artistic'' meaningless plans. And finally the persistence of the director to use in almost every movie the same actors playing similar roles. Just not worth AT ALL.
I rarely strongly dislike a film that makes it to AFI's festivals but this was a huge disappointment. Was looking forward to what was described as a thriller and a comedy. Neither funny nor thrilling, with characters with no nuance or complexity, only watch if you want to spend two hours seeing people yell and kill each other.
"Ballad for a Pierced Heart" exceeds all expectations and brings something new to the table that Greek Cinema has never seen before. Black comedy, Drama, Noir. Director Yannis Economides successfully merges all those genres into one masterfully executed and acted(!) film, ready to inspire a new generation of filmmakers. The cinematography is excellent and fits perfectly with the tone the director was going for. There really are no big flaws with this "Ballad", maybe if I had to nitpick I would say that the score of the film is sometimes a little bit off but it never takes you out of the experience.
In conclusion "Ballad for a Pierced Heart" is absolutely what it needed to by both for the audience and the modern era of Greek Cinema.
I hope that you can find a good translation to understand the film... in any case and especially if you are Greek, you will love it!!!

- AnecdotesDuring a recent interview, Economides said: "Some of the actors who partecipate are not professional ones. The majority of them are friends of mine, too. I wanted to expose a raw feeling giving a more human approach during the scenes".
