And Bad Editing.

I stole the idea of doing a review in Haiku from a blog I saw somewhere the other night.

This movie had potential, but I don't feel that the creators put enough thought to fleshing things out a bit (or adding to the budget to be able to add more footage).

They could have used longer, more explicit sex scenes and I don't mean that because I'd want more porn; they obviously wanted to make sex the main purpose of the film and they kind of half-a$$ed it by showing simulated penetration and oral early in the film, but nowhere else.

They also had a plot that was almost enough to tell a story, but they failed to make a case for there being a point to all this in the first place. There was almost a wrap around story with the "groupie", but I really wish that there had been at least something of an explanation. I do understand keeping the audience thinking afterwords by not explaining everything though, and that could have been the reason for the vagueness, but I kind of doubt it.

On the plus side, I did like how they speed up the dialog ala "Chipmunk" style when they were doing (I'm assuming) cocaine. The cards at the very end were actually kind of poetic as well.

The most distracting aspect to this was the editing. From the drums and other instruments not syncing up at all, to the breathing mismatches during the sex and masturbation scenes.

This movie is kind of appalling. First of all, it feels like it is more about the 1970s than the 21st century. The music business is way more business like than is depicted in this film. The fact is, this movie shows utter contempt for rock music and the people who make it. Nobody here is a disciplined artist or even seems to care a whole lot about what they do. The songs they have are simplistic with stupid lyrics. This film was *not* made by someone who loves rock 'n' roll or knows much about it or even listens to it.

A thoroughly unimpressive waste of time to watch. My God, even the sex scenes can't hold my attention. They devoted a lot of the film to depictions of sex and those scenes are just poorly conceived and filmed. Basically, the film makers failed on every single point.

As an expose of 'rock n roll' this a cliche ridden romp into mediocrity which redefines the word 'drivel.' Of far more interest is its X rated status and Brownfield's aspirations to be a credible film maker. If you are making porn films then that is a classic sign that your credibility as a film maker is around zero. As the late great Burt Reynolds said when researching Boogie Nights and I'm paraphrasing here, "These people seem to think that if Stephen Spielberg drops dead they are going to be called as replacements." And of course, Brownfield's self describing herself as an 'erotic film maker' is laughable. The Band is neither erotic as a film and especially for the participants. How erotic can it be if the participants are being instructed by her as to who to have sex with and how? Brownfield calls herself a feminist which must surely be some kind of joke. Surely women should decide who they have sex with, and how they do it? Insight is not one of her strengths. The women in The Band are described as actresses when in fact they are prostitutes. That's what women are who get paid for sex. And Brownfield is their pimp, using money to entice them. That is also, why she advertised for 'performers' on her blog, asking for 'broad minded and uninhibited women', which is just code for women willing to degrade themselves for money. In short, my goldfish would make a better film than The Band. And he also has far more credibility and respectability than Brownfield.
