House of Carnage

This film, a sequel to "Day of the Ax" (a film I've never seen, but judging from this one won't put it my netflix que anytime soon) is about J. R. Sorg a serial killer who remains 'unapphended' (gotta love misspelled words in preface crawls in awful movies). This apparently tells the back story of the aforementioned killer and his family.

This so-called 'movie' is extremely badly acted, sub-par even for low-budget film standards and seems to owe as much to Rob Zombie as it does to Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Now I'm no where near a fan of Zombie's films (his music I like though), but this travesty makes his movies seem like modern day classics. There's no real story to speak of just a series of (rather fake looking) murders interspersed with nude women (mostly of the kind you would rather keep their close on). Sadly, the fact that Sub Rosa Studios decided to distribute this awful dreck doesn't really surprise me, as for every good film they release they put out 20 other flicks that are utterly unwatchable (of which this is definitely one)

Eye Candy: Morgan Bacon, Jessica Wazelle, and Syn DeVil get topless (but they're not the best looking women to put it diplomatically)

This "movie" is so unremittingly awful that it has forced me to re-examine all my past preconceptions of what defines poor low-budget film-making. I am tempted to go back and award 1 or 2 more stars to every film to which I previously gave only 1 star.

From the opening, during which a badly spelled, grammatically atrocious crawl goes by explaining the history of the murderous Sorg family, to the poor pacing, repetitiveness, lack of acting ability and the director's pointless and annoying use of two second inserts of static, snow and/or old film stock throughout, this worthless Texas Chainsaw Massacre rip-off is a complete embarrassment. It only seems to exist for gratuitous breast shots and spraying copious amounts of truly fake looking blood on young women. There's nothing remotely frightening or interesting here.

One good thing about it: it's barely 70 minutes long. Zero stars.

I really liked this movie. Obviously cheaply made but well acted and well written. Done in a documentary style, the movie contains interviews, flashbacks, and present-day action concerning the evil killer J R Sorg. There are some slow parts, some bad acting, and dumb obnoxious teenagers being promiscuous thereby sentencing them to serial killer death, but the underlying story is fascinating and one you will long remember. It's too bad you have to sit through the bad parts, but the good parts far outweigh the dreck. So put up with the teenagers and J R's irritating brother and absorb the utter ingenuity, novelty, and creepiness of the story and this will be a pleasurable experience. Also, one of the best surprise twists ever at the end...
