Avis à la une
This could have been a lot worse. I will be turning in next week. Ok just watched episode 4. So glad I kept watching this show.
This is a Disney+ series, so naturally I thought it was going to be cheesy, but Disney scored big with a series that beautifully combines sports, real drama, and excellent character development. John Stamos does a great job of portraying the witty, yet relatable Marvyn Korn. His relationships with the other characters, especially his daughter Emma were really fleshed out. I liked how this show also had good arcs for other characters. Even though the stakes were never really high, the show makes you feel like they are. Yvette Nichole Brown also gets points for her superb acting. The show does miss a 10/10 rating for some cringy dialogue at times, and there wasn't really any "wow" factor with this show. It's a little predictable and I just wasn't amazed or surprised enough for a 10 rating. It's still a great show that can serve as comfortable viewing.
Watched it with my teenage daughter who plays basketball. Does it accurately represent teenage girls? After the first introductory scene where he meets the team (which seemed to include all possible stereotypical "teenager" comments), the pacing settles down and generally accurately reflects teenage concerns and emotions. My daughter watched the whole thing, which I took as a good sign. Also, it touches on (but doesn't dwell, thank goodness) how coaching girls' teams is perceived as a "step down" from coaching boys. Hoping this series works to dispel that myth, and looking forward to more episodes.

I look forward to this show every Friday now. Honestly so surprised by it. I really only started it because I was going to Disney anyway to watch TFATWS. I was like okay I'll give this a shot. I don't have a single problem with this show. I'm genuinely surprised how good all the actors are, how fun the show is to watch, and how much I want to see Stamos succeed in the role as Marvin Korn. Honestly, the show is a thousand times better than The Mighty Ducks. TMD is incredibly corny and the acting is so suspect at times but I think the casting they did for Big Shot is so much better than you'd think. Definitely give it a shot.
Interesting to watch while John Stamos exhibits his acting chops as a basketball coach figuring out how to come to terms with his career, his past, and his daughter. The supporting cast is excellent, especially the Principal of the High School whose timing and one liners are hilarious. Especially in the back and forth with Stamos.
