Avis à la une
"Joshua," helmed by Director Gvm, is a colossal disappointment that squandered two hours of my life. The film is a relentless barrage of mindless fights from start to finish, with the lead actor's exaggerated and cringe-worthy overacting dominating every scene. His forced intensity and melodramatic expressions made me wish I had opted for a wrestling match with guns instead of enduring this shallow spectacle. Director Gvm's lack of storytelling depth or character development left me feeling empty and unsatisfied, as the film prioritized style over substance. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of "Joshua."
Despite its intriguing premise, the film fails to live up to expectations due to poor direction and uninspired writing. While the action scenes are commendably choreographed and the experimental music by Karthick adds some flavor, the film struggles to engage viewers beyond these moments.
Krishna Kulasekharan delivers a standout performance, bringing depth to his character and serving as a saving grace amidst the film's shortcomings. However, the rest of the cast falls short, lacking the necessary acting prowess to elevate the material.
Director GVM's simplistic and stale writing results in a lackluster narrative that fails to captivate. The film's pacing suffers, particularly during conversational scenes where the dialogue fails to spark interest.
Despite attempts to emulate the success of "John Wick" with a Desi twist, "Lost Potential" ultimately falls flat. While it may appeal to fans of action-packed sequences, its overall execution leaves much to be desired. Viewers are advised to approach with tempered expectations and to focus on the few positives the film has to offer.

Didn't watch a film such this film authentic since it reminded me Tamil version of Jones Wicks though it met 100%. The action of Varun is worth to be appreciated for it is pettish triumph to Hollywood
Cultured action movie. Exaggeration is neglected through out the film.love affairs and romantic scenes in the manner of Hollywood which I truly expect in the movies. John wicks thriller movie of killing with gun but this film slightly followed the steps of Jone Wicks with Tamil conversation fights scenery.behind the antagonist secrecy is induced towards climax. Finally shocked climax is that her own father is the villain of the born child.
GVM is a brand in Tamil cinema and his films have always been in limelight at times of release & indeed a notable filmaker of our times...This project was designed way back a few years for Thalapathy Vijay as "YOHAN" giving a "BOND" texture for Tamil cinema after a long time...
Action films aren't new to him but this kind of a "Bond" film is a fresh attempt. Just like in the Bond movies you get the name Bond repeatedly heard, here the name Joshua keeps ringing all the time... The romance fizzles out as soon as it begins and it gets reignited too without any spark. GVM who has masterd with romance scores a zero here...What is amusing is the fact that there are so many action blocks that get underappreciated for its illogical writing...
Varun does well in action scenes, but then falters when it comes to emotions & performance...Raahei looks confused most of the times and her part is just a running woman behind Varun... Krishna is good in a short role & DD does a decent job...
SR. Kathir's cinematography works in parts. Background score by Karthik is effective and the songs though decent do not work on the screen...
Overall JOSHUA is a better package for action lovers & arguably far better than "ENNAI NOKI PAUUM THOTA" & "ACHAM YENBADHU MADAMAIDA"

A contract killer turned bodyguard trying to protect his love interest from international bad elements.
Though the movie had considerable budget, the execution was terrible.
Listing them in points:
1. Acting was horrible, especially of Varun's. There was no expression at all, with so much stunt training going on, I think he skipped basic acting lessons.
2. The movie is basically a copy of Hitman's bodyguard, Bodyguard series (Netflix), John Wick, Bourne and 100 other movies. Just made with low quality.
3. GVM, in the name of so called "classy movie" has made this movie with cringe filled redundant scenes. The generous use of "English" in his movie doesn't mean it's synonymous to international standards or quality. One easily gets distracted from a scene in just a couple of minutes.
4. Lot of logic loopholes with forced and predictable scenes. In fact a movie need not have a well defined good story, even a simple story could be well executed in a good way through screenplay, cinematography and dialogues but this movie didn't have any of those things
At the end it is just an action movie overshadowed by terrible acting and poor story. Watch if you don't want to use your brain much.

- AnecdotesDarbuka Siva, who previously composed for Gautham Menon's Enai Noki Paayum Thota (2019), was hired as the film's composer. However, he was soon replaced with Karthik, who has sung songs in Gautham Menon's movies since the director's debut film, Minnale (2001).
