A delirious, disgusting and delightfully dark concoction, this low-budget movie is the latest throwback creation from Steven Kostanski (Manborg, The Void), whose artistic vision seems perma-stuck in the sugary-cereal haze of a Saturday morning circa 1989.

Psycho Goreman is a necessary explosion of ridiculous fun in a time when it’s needed most. Fans of practical effects and over-the-top horror-comedy will instantly fall in love.

PG: Psycho Goreman is campy, ridiculous, and low-budget, and it absolutely owns it.

With winks at the cheesiness of a previous generation’s entertainment and a razzberry directed at contemporary blockbusters with a thousand times its minuscule budget, Psycho Goreman is an entertaining exercise in low-tech sci-fi camp.

As satire, Psycho Goreman is no “Planet Terror,” but it’s a droll enough schlock-in-quote-marks diversion, and part of its appeal is just how damn cheap it is. In the omni-tech era, it’s fun to see a filmmaker build an FX fantasy out of scraps, from the ground up.

Will good triumph over evil? Who cares, when there's this much chaotic creature fun to be had.

Yes, it gets gassed about a half hour in, with things not picking up much until the Big Finale. But those who like this sort of thing — horror played for laughs, a cult-movie by design — will surely find this the sort of thing they like.

By never attempting to give anyone on-screen a path towards redemption, Kostanski keeps things entertaining.

This tongue-in-cheek gorefest gives the impression of an only semi-coherent joke on the audience.

Psycho Goreman isn’t clever or lively enough to be more than fitfully fun, especially given how much time is spent mocking generic, but painstakingly recreated plot contrivances.
