Avis à la une
When I stumbled upon the 2021 horror comedy "Bloody Summer Camp", here late in 2022, of course I opted to watch it, as it was a movie that I hadn't already seen. And I will say that the movie definitely seemed like it could be an enjoyable movie to watch, as it seemed like a movie that would be poking fun at the traditional slasher genre.
So I watched what writer and director David Kerr had to offer. And since I had never actually heard about "Bloody Summer Camp", then he had every opportunity to entertain and bedazzle me.
Well, "Bloody Summer Camp" was a low budget movie, and not an overly great one at that. The storyline was actually fair enough, but the movie was just permeating low budget and subpar production all round, so it was not particularly enjoyable movie to watch. The comedy that was in the movie didn't fall into my liking, and the acting performances was wooden and rigid.
For a horror comedy then "Bloody Summer Camp" didn't step up when it mattered. This is not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on.
My rating of "Bloody Summer Camp" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.

You wont score higher than 6 , so a 10'er for some and 5 outta 6 from the grumpy old man...because this is what makes making a home- carpented movie watchable, crazy caracters, loads of stupid jokes, summer camp outtin nowhere, stunning moments of blood and gore, the sleazy monster lurking on the premisses, bareflashing well embeded spinsterboobs, and hunky hormonfrisking groiningly frustratedladden young men... can you really ask for more??... its just a question of screwing it all tight and firm together and hope for the best of weed and booze, sex and rockn the bed because this is fizzling the summercamp counselers.
This is seeding to become a slasherhorrorcomedy classic, not due to technical wonders, no its trashy sound and vision, not even a misty smokefilled room, and its not the story because its the same stew as every summercamp horror, its not brilliant acting rather a well harmonized ensemble that really wants to play the game of the guild , but nevertheless ,the caracters dumbsomeness and naive look on life and how to get laid are just awesomely done, and for every shift of scenes youll get sucked in for more, and if you love despicable body dismanteling and machetemagic then your in.
The grumpy old man have been hardened over the years on blood and gore, more or less unwittingly, but some of the stuff in here came so swiftly and shocking ,like feeling the fist digging my duodeni more than once. So if you wanna watch tv on your own, then put this one in the player cause your spouce or better half wont (at least not mine)and have a goood time, cause its fun, its dumb and its basic filmaking so lol is my last word.

This was a fun indie horror camp slasher. Acting was good and had some good laugh out loud moments. Definitely felt they did a good job bringing back that 80's nostalgia. Dave Sheridan was hysterical. Had a good twist. Definitely not going to win any awards but I don't think that's what they were going for. If you like indie horror films set a camp. I definitely think it's worth a watch. Run time was a little long but it doesn't feel like it takes forever to get the story going either.
I rounded up my rating. This movie is a 2 most of the way, but a 7 for the last 30 mins. I don't know why the movie is sooooo long. This movie would be much better if they tried to take out 30-40 minutes of it. I think most people would probably tune the movie off 20 minutes in, because really nothing much happens, and it's a shame, because the last half hour really saves this movie if you make it through the first half.
Most of the acting is bad, scenes aren't cut the way they should be, and some of the lighting of scenes is too dark. The sound effects are good where they were used, but there's several scenes that could have used some kind of background sound and it was completely lacking - it's almost as if they switched editors for the last hour of the film.

I rounded it up to a four, cause it's probably a 3.5 in my opinion. Which is low for a slasher for me. It's low budget and what you'd expect for this type of movie. Obviously someone on the crew got a new drone for Christmas! I did laugh at the Cop interrogation scene for some dumb reason, lots of 80s references for old dudes like me. But why on earth was this over 2 hours? Why? Was this directed by Kevin Costner? Someone should cut this down to about 80 minutes and it would have been way better! So much unnecessary filler! A few too many throwbacks / references to Sleepaway Camp but I guess with the star of that in this that makes sense to me. For Camp Slasher fans only!
