Michael B. Jordan has a new co-star. Less than a week after Taylor Russell exited Amazon MGM Studios' The Thomas Crown Affair remake, her replacement has been found.

According to Variety, Adria Arjona has joined The Thomas Crown Affair, stepping into the co-lead role of the insurance investigator who pursues Jordan's titular billionaire art thief. Russell had been cast in the role since March 2025, but departed late last week over "creative differences." With production having already commenced, Amazon and the movie's producers, which count Jordan and Charles Roven, worked quickly to cast her replacement, with Arjona emerging victorious. She now joins an ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.

“Andor” and “Splitsville” star Adria Arjona is set to join Michael B. Jordan in “The Thomas Crown Affair,” Amazon MGM Studios’ reimagining of the classic romantic heist film.

Arjona joins a star-studded ensemble cast featuring Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk and Aiysha Hart, stepping into the co-lead role following Taylor Russell’s exit. After news broke on Friday, the studio and producers received a flurry of incoming calls about the highly sought-after part and moved quickly to secure a new star. The film, directed by Jordan, is currently in production in London and working toward a March 5, 2027 theatrical release date.

Drew Pearce wrote the script, with plot details being kept under wraps, following a previous draft written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which was based on the 1968 original film starring Steve McQueen. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo are producing the picture for Outlier Society, alongside Charles Roven via Atlas Entertainment.

Months later, he created another web short specifically for Hoover called Sparky & Mikaela, which chronicled the crime-fighting exploits of her low-rent superhero character and raccoon sidekick. Back in April, we heard that Greg McLean, the director of the horror films Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek 2, Rogue, The Darkness, and The Belko Experiment (as well as the survival thriller Jungle), had signed on to direct the action horror movie Graveyard Smash from a screenplay by Old Henry and Would You Rather writer Gus Krieger… and while that project is expected to start filming this year, McLean is already looking ahead to his next project, as Deadline reports that he will be writing and directing a supernatural thriller called The First Exorcist, with production to take place in Victoria, Australia sometime in 2025.

The director of the hit Australian horror movie Wolf Creek, Greg McLean, has his sights set on his next project: a possession thriller titled The First Exorcist. McLean directed Wolf Creek back in 2005, as well as its sequel in 2013, and the television spinoff series of the same name in 2016. Hes also responsible for the underrated horror gem The Belko Experiment, which centers around a group of office workers trapped inside a building who are given explicit instructions to kill one another, lest they be killed themselves.

Per Deadline, McLean will team with producer Mark Fennessy to deliver The First Exorcist, which is expected to begin shooting in Australia next year. Exclusive: Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day franchise) and Mikaela Hoover (Superman) have signed on to star in Dead Giveaway, a comedic thriller marking the feature debut of writer-director Ian Kimble.

Based on Kimble’s short of the same name from 2015, the film follows Jill, who wakes up with a hangover and a murdered stranger in her bed. Jill’s day spirals into chaos as she navigates a tied-up man in her closet, an unconscious roommate, and a knife to her best friend’s neck. The goal? Get to brunch before 3:00.

Superman director James Gunn recently shared an Instagram photo with several actors from the Dcu reboot, leading to speculation that the two new faces in the pic had joined the cast.

Sure enough, THR is now reporting that Mikaela Hoover and Christopher MacDonald will appear in the movie as Clark Kent and Lois Lane's fellow Daily Planet newshounds.

Hoover will play Cat Grant, "a gossip columnist who had her eyes set on Kent," and MacDonald is playing Ron Troupe, "one of the best reporters in the newsroom."

Hoover has appeared in several previous Gunn-directed and produced movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad and The Belko Experiment. McDonald - not to be confused with the veteran Happy Gilmore actor - is a newcomer to the screen.

James Gunn’s Superman has added Mikaela Hoover (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and Christopher MacDonald to its cast, sources have confirmed to Deadline.

The pair will respectively play Cat Grant and Ron Troupe, a pair of reporters for the Daily Planet, where Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) works. David Corenswet leads the ensemble as Clark Kent/Superman, with Nicholas Hoult as the villain Lex Luthor. Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of Gunn’s Superman, the inaugural movie of DC Studios.

The feature is currently in production in Atlanta with David Corenswet starring as Clark Kent/Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan playing Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.

The duo will have company on the news desk. Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett had joined the production to play Steve Lombard, a blowhard and self-serving reporter who in the comics serves as a foil to boy scout reporter Kent.

Sources tell THR that Hoover is playing Cat Grant, who in the comics was a gossip columnist who had her eyes set on Kent. The character, created by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway, has appeared in several TV shows, most notably in CW’s Supergirl in which she was played by Calista Flockhart.
